What Do You Love and Hate About Internet Marketing?

by Profit Traveler Banned
65 replies
This making money online journey is a hell of an adventure as we look back on it and into the future.

I would have so say what I love most is the feeling you can get from getting rewarded from your own actions and results. Sometimes even with limited resources we can do amazing things.

We do not have to wake up to the boring mundane overly repetitive grind work that so many can be stuck doing.

We can even sit back and orchestrate projects by outsourcing and watch our empire grow without doing any of the heavy lifting.

What I hate?

That would be the exclusive network of Top Dog Guru Marketers and the fact that I am not included on that list yet!

What is your love hate relationship with Internet Marketing?

Yes can be very addicting in a great way. I try to always keep a notepad or take notes on cell when I get one of those creative ideas. Keeps you feeling alive.

What I love: the freedom in working on a project wherever I want, whenever I want, for as much as I want. (This can also be a curse if you lack discipline.)

What I hate: the claims that some people make about "easy riches" - yes, this happens offline as well but it's harder to regulate these kinds of things online.

I hate having to gamble on my monthly bill money for the purpose of investing in new ways to further business.

So I now work to pay bills and let the business support the business. But this means the net goes back to more campaigning which leads to a break even in the long run.

I just need 20,000 folks to buy on the same day rather than 20,000 folks buying within a 3 year period while paying for ads throughout the 3 years as well.

So my frustration is knowing the sales will be made. But not knowing how to get them all in a month. Lol.

But I will find a way.

Right on with the freedom and creativity. I can get inspired in the shower or anywhere, get an idea and make it a reality the same day! An idea for a post, product, video, old contact that would be perfect for a new venture on and on..

You know I was just thinking about the never ending pitches we are exposed to here. Does it effect us at all? I guess we become like the mortician who can eat lunch while preparing the deceased for Funeral.

No doubt about that. What does a Guru do who invests in hypnotizing professional sales copy for his mega launch then emails you to tell you how he had record sales? Sends you his new campaign the next day that was already set up weeks or months ago!

So true..if we want the fast money we have to be alot more hands on and attentive to the process because variables change rapidly..

You said a mouthful. We may have a single task but it sometimes involves research, including watching videos, organizing and filtering, images, editing, bookmarking on and on.

If I created a new blog today I would take it upon myself to look up everything I already knew to look up in 2015 and do it again for 2016 just in case. Tools, resources, social media, rules and regulations everything can change.

A man of few words but definitely in the heavy weight category.

Right now some do not know what they do no know. But once we begin to expand and reinvest in our business it becomes crystal how important testing is and improving even on winners for optimal profits.

I had my first WSO about the same time you joined Salegurus and it did pretty well about $30.000. "Called Cash In with CPA Offers".

I actually have a book I just wrote on the subject of that lifestyle many of us pursue but I did not feel that would be appropriate to mention.

Thumbs up on WF community. Have to be careful though. There is whole lot of opportunity away from the forum that we can experience and come back and share.

One of the Best parts about being an internet marketer is we can bring a product to market much faster than a huge company.

And yep people around us begin to respond differently when they see the results then they want to learn.

    What I hate about is......

    • I've become very introverted, disconnected from the "old habits" and "routines" that blindly occupied my time, and while I was much busier physically... I realized it was leading me away from my greater ambitions
    • I too hate the fact, people assume that just because you've invested (roughly $10,000 to date) into the studies of various "processes and systems" being used online... they think the internet is for playing video games, chatting, flirting, and all about leisurely wasting time... and these are the people screaming; 'Go get a job... just be like us"
    • I hatethe "technical challenges" as I entered this arena, a complete noob, never even used until email 7 years ago!

Yes so true Bennettboy we get freedom and sometimes that very freedom is what dooms us if we are not disciplined.

That is fantastic comment dyevan. Never give up. We all need to remember that from time to time.

If I spend money with terrible return on investment it motivates me.

If people online leave you hanging I do not let it eat me up inside..mostly I use it for fuel to succeed no matter what.

You are so right about the challenges. Everything has its own techy side we have to overcome. Even if hiring someone else to do tasks for us we have to educate ourselves on that entire process as well!

Yes that is true but do not let it bother you. Even if you did know you would not know how much they spend, how much sleep did they get, and do they shop at discount warehouses or pay full pop Just joking on that last one.

You know there is a strong motivation in seeing people have success already then just reading and someone pointing you in that general direction.

Yes there is not doubt about it that we marketers sometimes are the cause of marketers caught in the endless cycle of learning and learning and learning and not implementing.

I think many people are still not fully aware of just what a fabulous resource the internet is, and it is the basic research skills that are lacking. This 'secret hidden in plain sight' is that you can learn to do just about anything if you have the will to learn.
Take a platform like YouTube, for instance, to many people this is a playground, a superficial and trivial distraction filled with entertainment - if you bother to look a little deeper however there are terabytes of training videos on just about every subject, often of very high quality, you can learn how to build websites, how to use applications, how to do everything you need to start building your own online empire(!)
Sites such as Udemy.com, Cousera.com, as a small example have tons of free courses.
There is absolutely no excuse at all for not knowing how to do things online - if you are capable of learning you can do it all.
In my own case I became increasingly focused on internet marketing from about 2009, after being online since 1996 and working as an IT network administrator in my 'day job'.

It was all new to me but I was drawn to it all, it was completely compelling. If a vintage model like me can do it, you can too.
There is just so much opportunity available to all in these times, there really is, people get discouraged on here a lot because it is not easy; nothing of value comes easy! If you fail at first, just learn from it and try again, this is important.
I am trying to provide as much value to others as I can, I think this is the crucial part of being an internet marketer, you must have a generosity of spirit. If you seek to profit from others by 'tricking' them, or fooling them you are doomed to come to a sticky end, the world is full of trickery and con-artists so you have to be discerning and use your common sense.
The part of internet marketing I dislike is the seedy, egotism and deceptive people who pretend to be caring and all for helping people, when all they are focused on is exploiting the inexperienced and digitally naive folks - there is still too much of that going on!
Mostly I love it, it is the most fun you can have wearing whatever you choose! Opportunity is all around us, the means to make life better for all, we are connected and exchanging culture, ideas and knowledge, we truly are blessed to live in these times. With an internet connection you have the world at your finger tips and with just your skills, will and imagination you can actually build a whole new life for yourself.
Mr Fume you have totally exposed the paradox in Internet Marketing.

I am overseas now and sometimes if my signal is weak I pop into a nice AirCon Cafe and work a little.

All I see is social media and video games!

I remember when all we had were Encyclopedias for information!

Now I can go to youtube and figure out a techy problem on my blog or if I am doing an exercise correctly.

I have created helpful resources from nothing but freely accessible online sources but people still appreciate the fact I saved them time and also provided content they may have never found.

Marketing involves scientifically proven research on how the brain works and how it can be exploited. Talk about 50 shades of gray!

10 Tricks Companies Use to Get You to Buy More

When I first started marketing I was too shy to even create a mailing list!

So somewhere in the middle we have to find our own happy medium on how far we will take it and who's interesst is priority ours or our customers.

      Thanks for that great comment.

One of my biggest HATES is affiliate managers sending advertising violations to you when their policies are not very clear int he first place.

It should be more like a #alert Send to advertisiers ( when such is th csae) the first time and then they should explicitly modify thier terms to make it easy to comply too.

Yes and with that freedom comes a whole lot of self discipline or freedom lost. .

True on the investing as well. Sometimes it takes a while to figure that out.
