What's Up With Viralurl?

I went from getting around 6 or 7 leads per mailing to about 1 or 2 and the last couple times (Zero) Not exactly sure what's going on just wondering if some of you are having the same problems?

I got 10 on my last one. Which is average for me but it could be higher if I tweaked my emails.

Are you sending the same offer? If you are, that could be why. I send different offers as when I always do the same one, it drops.

    Also, how are you tracking?

I used viral url just 2 days ago, and no...

No I am not experinecing the same problem.

This is just a problem YOU have right now you have to figure out
    to see whats wrong.

One thing that comes to mind is to check your email copy and
subject line in SBI's spam checker to make sure your emails aren't
    ending up in peoples spam.

I'm sure there maybe other reasons, but you'll figure something
    out.

I personally get about 10-15 leads per mailing. Very easily.

Why is it when one person is experinecing a problem with any aspect
of their business, they assume it must be happening to everyone who's
    using it?

There's nothing wrong with trying to fix a problem asking questions on a forum, but the tone of a lot of posts lately have been, "I'm having this problem, is anyone else having a similar problem so I know It's not just me, my business, my approach,
mycampaign, my problem to solve? Who else is failing along with me..." kinda attitude.

hmmm, I find that intresting...anyways, I'm rambling on, back to making money and
    having fun

In spite of Mr Josef_Benjamin's quick rush to judgement, there are a number of people experiencing the same problem. ViralURL got shut down by GoDaddy the other day and quickly switched to another ISP. I don't really know what's going on with them but things have drastically changed.

I thought that they were completely down this morning when I initially posted this message (now edited) but discovered that their URL had been somehow automatically added to my firewall's blacklist (my bad this morning). Anyway, they may be having some problems with results but they shouldn't be blacklisted.

As far as the simplistic answer just provided by Mr. Benjamin, my ViralURL email messages for months typically got a 20% to 30% conversion and occasionally almost 40%. But even very carefully tested messages have been having dramatically lower results for a month or so now.

Please excuse my earlier mis-statement of fact about the URL being down but there is no doubt in my mind that ViralURL is got some serious problems with declining results.

        Hi Lou,

Frank Bauer here... co-founder of ViralURL & ViralHosts.

It was actually the ViralHosts domain that was suspended for two days by GoDaddy. After paying their ransom they released it again (and we moved it to NameCheap).

        ViralURL's domain was never suspended.

I just checked the typical blacklists for our domain name and IP's and it looks pretty normal right now.

The main problem are people that use ViralURL links in spam emails that we have to cleanup after (... after suspending them).

Josef's tip regarding using the SBI's spam checker is actually a smart one.

You won't believe what kind of emails some members try to send out... scary!

I am actually considering to start a video review series to teach members what to do and what not to do to improve their mailing results as some members are seeing awesome results while others do not.

Well Frank... I am sincerely glad to see that you actually exist. I've been trying to get some answers through your help desk and quite frankly, they haven't been very helpful. But I digress.

As to the issue a few mornings ago (and elaborated on here for the benefit of any of your other users on this forum), I found out that it was/is Spybot Search and Destroy that is blacklisting the viralurl domain. They are "immunizing" their users Hosts file and browser blocking lists. You might want to contact them. The domain that I use for your service was also recently listed by SpamCop and here almost two weeks later, they have not removed it even though I send no emails other than the viralurl ones. So I'm losing everyone who's ISP is using SpamCop.

Anyway, the question of whether or not ViralURL is becoming less effective is not limited to this forum and not all of us out here are the idiots that the non-help answers from your help desk folks suggest.

I track everything, rotate and tweak messages and am absolutely certain that effective usage has, at least for me, dropped off over the last month or so. If I hadn't been getting better results for months on several of the same messages, I would assume that it was my copy. But the messages, technique, timing and form haven't changed... only the results. So when I see folks talking about it, I know that they just might be seeing the same trend that I'm seeing.

Now, if you have any real suggestions or ideas why this is happening, I would be most eager to hear them.

          Thank you and best regards,

I have had good results with the guaranteed traffic that ViralUrl offers, I know several people that have used their paid to email services and bought Gold memberships that initially have had great results only to see the drop in responses that everyone else here has seen. For the cost of the membership just to send the email, I don't think so, but their users that actually look at YOUR webpages are great.

Well, I think that's not like what you think, sir. They ask if someone else have same exp., to give them suggestion how fix it.

It make sense to me, that people with same experience can give better solution than others that do not experienced the same thing. So for me, there's nothing wrong asking that way.

I don't like to rain on another service provider's day, but what happens if ViralUrl goes down completely? I mean, permanently? What happens to all of your work?

Wouldn't you guys be better off to set up your own service using a domain that belonged to YOU? Or am I missing something about the service that they provide?

Sorry for answering late, wish I had more time to hang out in this forum.

Colin's VP of Operations just pointed out the discussion in here continued, let's see up to where I read last... ok, I see.

@LouSmith: Yes, I do exist... and I am pretty glad I am.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the reply you where looking for in my helpdesk. Quick tip... if you continue asking in the same ticket and the staff runs out of answers, they do escalate the ticket to my VP of Operations and if he can't help, he assigns the ticket to me or Colin. So, please just don't give up.

Obviously the VA's that do 1st level support don't have the same experience level like the developers of the system, but they are trying to answer questions to the best of their knowledge.

Regarding Spybot Search and Destroy that is blacklisting the viralurl DOT com domain, that's correct... we have been trying for ages to get them to reconsider and getting close to the point of hiring a lawyer and suing them. If you want to know more on that topic and help by complaining to them as well, please check out our blog at How to fix the SpyBot bug...

Which domain is listed by SpamCop? How can I check?

I am glad to hear you are doing it the right way and you do track everything, rotate and tweak messages. I wish more people would do that.

The reason you might have seen a drop could be due to a specific URL used in your messages that other users (that didn't see a decrease) didn't use. If you let me know your ViralURL folder name, I can look up the messages you send to get a better picture.

Regarding OutBlaze... can't be the reason if it just dropped a few weeks ago and you take a closer look:

12.68.137.0/24 is on the Outblaze Spammers List.
        Reason: Direct Spam Source
        Blocked since: 2009-07-24 04:45:47 UTC

        a) It's not specifically our IP on there... it's the complete IP block (our host is informed and they are working on it).

        b) It's since late July... and not the first time. We are getting on and off those lists all the time as members that agreed to receive emails complain instead of deleting their account (or upgrading) or because of people spamming using ViralURL links in their spam messages (not mailed from our servers).

@sanjid112: The "scary" email are referring to are those that look and scream "I am spam!" from far away. But joke aside... I have seen subject lines that nobody would believe even if they just came only 5 minutes ago for the first time in their life.

Also the email message bodies are often written as ads... not as as an email message that is trying to build trust and get the click. I should really start doing the video reviews, wish I had 8 arms and 48 hour days.

@MarkH45: How would that exactly work? Are they able to guess the senders email address? In case you don't know... ViralURL members send emails using our system and our email address.

@ahlexis: If it's just about cloaking a ink... sure, people could buy a script that they install in their servers and use their own domain. They could even use their own domain using ViralURL, anyway... what excites most of our users is the advertising leverage they get using our service, specially with upgraded accounts.

@Clint Butler: Glad to hear the GV's are working for you as well. That's our main objective... providing a service that actually works for the advertisers.

That's the reason we are taking these kinds of discussions seriously. If there is something wrong... we are the first ones that want to hear about it so we can work on improving matters for everybody.

ViralURL is now already close to 2 years in age... but so far we didn't find any signs of aging that we haven't been able to reverse eventually.

@Tony Dean: We never had ViralURL with GoDaddy... and strongly advice now to any Internet Marketer to move your remaining domains away from GoDaddy as we did with our ViralHosts domain (that's the one we run into trouble with GoDaddy).

In a previous post to this thread, I reported that it is your server's IP address that is blocked by OutBlaze.

Frank, thank you for making my point. We've been talking about declining ViralURL traffic since July on this and several other forums.
          a) It's not specifically our IP on there... it's the complete IP block (our host is informed and they are working on it).
That's really nice Frank but your subscribers are not paying your IP, we're paying you. How about extending our service contracts for the period of time that you don't provide the service you've sold us? Does that seem fair?
That's the reason we are taking these kinds of discussions seriously. If there is something wrong... we are the first ones that want to hear about it so we can work on improving matters for everybody.
It's great to discuss it Frank but you can't keep collecting for services you aren't providing. Let me say in all fairness, when your service works, it is definitely worth the money. But, if you can't deliver what we're paying for, we need more than a discussion.
ViralURL is now already close to 2 years in age... but so far we didn't find any signs of aging that we haven't been able to reverse eventually.
That's nice Frank but those of us who are paying for something we're not getting are not smiling. "Eventually" is costing us money.

A closed ticket can be reopened at any time if the answer was not sufficient. To get a ticket escalated, simply request for 2nd level support.

My experience has been that anytime the service was made unavailable to me they HAVE given me credits of some kind, usually additional mailing credits.

The CS has however been quite slow in responding it would be nice to see a little quicker response time.

Overall I have seen a pretty consistent 12-15% click through rate and 10-15 optins

Anyone notice an incredibly terrible click thru rate with ViralURL these days? I am allowed to send 6,000 emails and I am lucky to get six clicks from a mailing. I even used ViralUrl to get some Social Monkeereferrals and not a clic, using the Promo Email in the Social Monkee site.

Also, here is a screenshot from my tracking account that I just took from a mailing 1 week ago:
