How to find a good niche to start in?

I have been beating myself over the head for the last few weeks. I feel like I have all of the knowledge and the steps necessary to build my audience out, and properly solve problems. My BIGGEST problems are :

1. Not being able to find a niche/product to create.
2. Information overload, which leads somehow to self-doubt.

My career is in IT Security, but have been reading about this online marketing stuff for like 3 years. Different life things have cause me not to take action yet. I am very technical, and have a knack/personality(so I am told) for the problem solving and communication parts of it all.

I need severe help finding the right set of questions for me to zero in on an industry or passionate enough to work in.

Experienced Warriors, if you were to start from scratch today with no ideas for a product or niche but knew how to implement systems to get started, what would you do?

Sometime you can take the other route.

If you know you have found a buyers niche, build the list of them first and then find out what product they actually WANT.

So put the product on the back burner and focus on finding a niche.

I have a friend who is a reporter of local newspaper. He once said; to sell a great info we must focus on just 3 areas, which are: sex related, crime related, & sport related. Hope that helps.

You gotta think and dig deep and find something you're interested in that has broad appeal. If you're interested in widgets, are others?

Then you need to figure out if this niche has a lot of problems people are trying to solve. If so, good.

Then, Google keywords related to the niche to see if there are other sites or ads related. Are others selling products and making money? If so, good. Competition is your friend. It means there's money to be made.

There is a lot to learn about picking the right niche. Search online or here and you'll find enough reading material for months!

Here are some examples of popular niches that have ENORMOUS amount of people interested and trying to solve problems:

    Make Money Online
    Home Based Businesses
    Weight Loss
    Fitness
    Self Help
    Dating
    ForEx trading
    Popular Hobbies (Nascar/football/cooking/golf, etc.)
    Survivalists

Quit thinking of it as a Niche...

You get into trouble because you start looking up "how to pick a niche" in google and then you have Information Overload...

Just pick something you like and you know...

    Super SIMPLE

let's say your love is MMA

    1. You create a blog about MMA and since you love it you post to it daily.
    2. You target people who are also interested in MMA and share your blog.
    3. You find a problem that people may have who visit your site and you offer a quick solution in exchange for email...

    Example:
10 Jujitsu moves you can pull off with no skills

You promote that and gather leads...

Then send the leads back to your blog and your offers.

SO PICK SOMETHING YOU KNOW AND LOVE

OP, you can always do affiliate marketing as this solves the problem of not knowing what product to create - you can just leverage products that already sell well.

As for the niche selection process, you'll get a lot of different advice but this is how I personally approach it: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...l#post10634582

To solve your problem of information overload, that really boils down to disciplining yourself to focus on one course of action.

Information overload is what happens when you allow yourself to be distracted - so fix that ASAP.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Sometimes a person is a bowling lover and can't find a niche they love.

Their entire family is in law enforcement or medical field or athletes or have diabetes and they can not think of anything they know alot about.

    Money is a good niche.

Study High Ticket Products/Services like Live Events, Financial Investments etc.

If you like more cut and dry type of conversions I would suggest Desperate buyers niche like people looking for more urgent cures to problems.

    Just some thoughts.

What makes you jump out of bed every day enthusiastically?

Even if its "Video Games" there is a profitable niche in there.

    Niche selection is very important.
Here’ are a few things to remember.
    1. If you can , stick to the most profitable niches in the top 4 market â€" wealth, health, relationship and hobbies.
    2. Go into niches where people already spend money
    3. Go into a niche with competition. (Don’t enter a niche that has no other marketer. This usually means there’s likely no money in it)
    4. Find an evergreen niche. Not a niche that can disappear in a few years
    5. You don’t have to be passionate about a niche to enter it (most people disagree here) but you can get people to create products etc for you in any niche
Some time ago, I created a resource of 101 handpicked profitable niches. It helps you find a profitable niche in 5 minutes. (Saves your time)

Some of the best advice is "You are your niche." If only we could figure out what that means!

Basically, it means that we best connect with people like us. What are the three or four things you know best and have gone through that you now can help others with? Have you lost a lot of weight? Have you been through a divorce? Have you figured out how to date the women you want to date? Have you developed a reliable investment strategy? Did you lose your job and have to find a new one? Get three or four things like this in mind.

Now take out a notepad and write each one across the top of the page. Then write down the steps that you went through to reach your objective.

As an example, let's take weight loss.

    1) Looked in the mirror and said "Man, I'm a chubber!" I admitted I'm overweight. (Or maybe the doctor told you that you need to loose a few).
    2) Looked up info online to see what I should weigh. Set a weight goal.
    3) Researched diets and picked one I could live with.
    4) Researched exercise plans for weight loss and picked one.
    5) Picked a start date and target date for weight goals
    6) Got an accountability partner either to lose weight with me or to check up on me.
    7) Threw out my junk food cache.
    8) Followed my diet and exercise plan religiously.
    9) Lost the weight.
    10) Went on maintenance plan.

Do that for each of your potential niches. Which one came the easiest and felt right? If you can list out what steps you took, you can create products, you can coach, you can blog about that niche. As long as there is a significant market for it, it's what you should go for.

    You are your niche.

One of the most powerful things that make people act (including buying) is fear. Your IT security and technical background allow you be above most marketers and copywriters in the field of security or other technical fields.

As an example, a field of WordPress security is pretty hot. With your expertise you can become a great ambassador of a security product and earn well as an affiliate or consultant.

Once again, your technical expertise is your competitive advantage. Use it to help people and be useful.

I myself come from technical (and analytical) background and see that a lot of people in the Internet lack these skills and they really happy when they get advice on the topic that I know (or can to get to know easily) well.

Use your skills and expertise to help people. That's the main strategic thing.
