Thanks Brian... I dont really know why I didnt think of that.

But I guess what I mean is, compared to the number of say, knitting crafters that belong to a forum, how many do you think of those people would also be on Twitter?

Outside of Internet marketers and all of the other techy/bloggers (non IM) people, is Twitter really that popular yet?

One thing that really got me excited was seeing CNN using Twitter, so I kind of assume the majority of Americans now at least know about Twitter, but may not use it.

Some niche market examples: woodworking, car care, scrapbooking...

Is Twitter being used by these markets? Or are only people who use the Internet on a multiple times a day basis use it?

Blogging for example is more popular and people in every market blog, but is Twitter even close to that stage yet?

How popular do you think Twitter is?

Gag me with a fork. You act like this is a hard decision...like whether to pull the plug on dear ol' mom. Spare me.

Why is it that "pipe smokers".... always need validation from others before they have the balls to jump in and exploit a new trend for profit????

Grow a set of wavos, bro....and jump in and take a shot at Twitter.......and if it fails...so what? At least you're in the game. That's better then sitting on the bench......which is where you are now.

By the time you figure out Twitter might be right for you.....you'll have wasted a lifetime....waiting for the rest of the world to tell you it's "safe."

    By then it's too late!

No one gets rich, Joel....sitting on the sidelines.....scared to make a friggin' decision.

Well no doubt twitter is creating headlines and many webmaster started to using it as well. I think if you will start at the early stage than you will be in more benefit than if you start later on.

    Now its upto you ...

Hey VegasVince ... I admire your aggression ... thats really give me some encouragment ... thanks mate

Wow... that's basically all I have to say.

Why does it seem like people can't understand that fact that there may be hundreds of reasons why someone may not have done something yet.

Why is there the assumption of a "pipe smoker"?
Maybe it was in how I asked the question, if so, ok that's fine.

Joel...really, take no offense... but are you a pipe smoker?

PS. Vince is on a roll.

Edit: Oh, and to answer your question...twitter is like a snow ball rolling down a mountain.

    Thanks Steve:
No, I dont consider myself to be a "pipe smoker". I am using Twitter, but just not for non-IM niches. I am focusing on other parts of my business now and dont have the time to really use Twitter in other markets.

I just thought I would ask to see what other's have experienced or noticed since I have been thinking about it.

I know Twitter is growing, but wasn't sure how fast. Since offline the only time I have heard of it was recently on CNN.

Tom: Yes, I do have a Twitter account and use it for IM. But I was referring to other niches.

Believe me Joel...the IM sector hoped on it first.
As soon as your local, big city rag papers catch on and do reviews on it, then every grandma, senior sit, sports fanatic, chess player...etc. will jump on board.

      Like I said...it snowballs.
I've hardly done anything with one of my accounts and I'm getting followers on a daily basis.

If I did just a one line update, I would double what I'm getting now.
And this is in a very elite niche.

I'm just seeing how far I can go with this on it's own without doing anything.
The nice thing about twitter is that you can give "teaser" twits...a new term
Then I'll hit them when they don't expect it.
Maybe the wrong way to do it, but we'll see.

I really aint tryin' to offend anybody.

Truth is...I don't know shit about Twitter....I don't even have a Twitter account. And I aint losin' sleep over either.

My home girl and fellow Warrior Dana W...put out some good info on Twitter via a WSO...and despite the fact I'd like to sleep with Dana W....doesn't mean I'm gonna sell out and tell you'se people Twitter is the turnkey ticket to a lifetime of orgasms....et al.

Cuz to be honest...I don't know how effective Twitter is or isn't. But at least I'm honest.

My point is.....that sometimes you'se got to take a shot at life....on your terms. And damn the rest of us....cuz aint none of us gonna pay your bills, home boy. Aint you'se figured that out by now?

If Carmen Electra shows up knockin' on your door tonight.....wanting to have springy mattress action with you, Joel....are you gonna till her to hold on while you'se ask your fellow Warriors whether you should do the deed or not????

        That's my point.

Sometimes you have to just "go with it."

Sometimes you have to just say what the fu%%.... and just do it, man. Stop lookin' for permission...cuz that indicates you're scared.

And what I think...or anyone else thinks doesn't matter......

Too many peeps give up their own ambition....and dreams.....cuz the rest of the world don't go along with them.

Put the pipe away......Twitter away for better or worse.....and give Carmen the best 23 positions in a one night stand you got.

At least you did it on your terms. That is called living...bro. You don't need validation or permission to do that.

I use Twellow :: Twitter Search Directory, Twitter Search Engine to look for twitterers in my niche markets. I found 38 people in one niche the other day!

That's not to say that I can't be the person who introduces the market to twitter.. a great way of establishing authority and expertise in my niche.

You know, I do love Vegas Vince. Every time that I see that he's posted something I read it right away. When we thought Hurricane Ike was going to roll through Florida he even offered to shelter me during our final hours and we could toast our final moments with warm ripple.

But as I told him, I'm at least holding out for that boxed wine they sell at supermarkets.

Back to Twitter: here's a list of Twitters with specific interests. By no means all inclusive, but if you check people with a specific interest like crafters, then also check to see if they follow a lot of people and if they have a lot of followers. People tend to follow other people who have similar interests.

TwitterPacks wiki / Twitter Pack by Topic

And here's another resource for finding Twitter people with similar interests:

    Find Interesting People On Twitter

I certainly think Twitter caters MORE at the moment to tech-y people but I also think that the general public is quickly becoming aware of Twitter.

Twitter is ranked #1017 on Alexa right now.

I think that makes it pretty popular
