My Amazon Affiliate Situation

Hello,

I have a Travel Blog that gets about 4-5k views a month. I have managed to send, via text links and widgets, over 1,000 people through to Amazon but have never received a penny. Apparently nobody has ordered anything after clicking through my links. Does this sound like something is wrong?

My blog is about my travels in Europe and I link to related products (often European travel guides) on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
Joe

Have you checked demographic of your visitors? Are they allowed or attracted to purchase at your Amazon sites?

It sounds like your traffic may not be targeted enough. Just because your visitors are travelers does not mean they are looking to buy anything, let alone a guide off Amazon.

If you did reviews on specific guides this would be much more targeted and probably create some little sales.

You may want to revise your monetization plan.

Other than that you might want to check your links are working properly.

You should change to travel affiliate. Guide on Amazon is very cheap commission and it did not convert well. I used to try it, it did not work.

  • I would change to CPA offers in the traveling industry or even join a MLM traveling company and promote that insted of using Amazon that clearly isn´t converting.

It could be a few things:

    1. Your link is wrong.
    2. Your audience are not targeted.
    3. You send people through text links which may not be good. Send them links in an email to their computer.

I think you may want to rephrase or expand #3. As written, it violates Amazon's TOS.

If you want to send links by email, direct the links to actual redirect pages on your site so that Amazon records the click as coming from your site.

OP, 1,000 clicks with no orders is odd. As mentioned, it could be your links. Even if they are properly formatted, they could be directing to a version of the Amazon storefront that you are not connected to. For example, if you are using links to Amazon's UK storefront, and I follow your link and end up buying from the US storefront, you won't get any credit for the order unless you are also signed up for the US program.

As suggested, check your stats and see where your visitors are coming from. It may turn out that geotargeting your links might get the ball rolling.

I noticed Amazon now a days hard to convert????

I used to get sales now like hard...perhaps due to competition from others online store? whereby they sell more cheaper....

Yes things are wrong with your strategy. Here's what you need to do:

    - Track your visitors. If you haven't already, install some sort of tracking code on your site. Pay attention to what source they are coming from, what country, what they are looking for when visiting your site. In short you must know what the structure of your visitors is.

    - Amazon works fine and the fact that you haven't made a sale after 1000 clicks means that you're sending wrong people to wrong offers or that your visitors are not eligible to buy on Amazon

    - Once you establish who your visitors are, where they're coming from, what they're looking for then you can direct them to the right offer. If your visitors are looking for free info then they will not be ready to pay for anything. In this case you need to place AdSense or CPA offers on your site or you can just create some interesting guide and sell it right there on your site with a PayPal button.

Amazon is great but you need visitors who are targeted. This means you need visitors who are used to buying online, who are interested in products not just free info, who come from the right countries...

Anyway, if you have 4-5k views per month then you can make some money. Just do a research who your visitors really are and give them what they want. If you want to make money with Amazon then you should gear your websites towards products or at least towards topics that people are very passionate about which also have closely related products. Don't worry, it may take some testing but your traffic can be monetized!
