Hello Warriors,

I have a legal question about web hosting. Let say I open a new site and host it in the US and not in my country (I don't live in the US). Which laws should I respect? The US laws or the laws of my country?

For example, is it legal to host in the US something legal for the US but illegal for my country of resicence? Keep in mind that the site wouldn't be in English, but designed for people in my country.

Thanks.

It is a difficult one as you host will be bound to the laws of the country they in and according to there TOS will say which laws they must adhere to. Also if the host is a reseller they will have to adhere to the data center TOS

I suggest phoning Liquid Web liquidweb.com as I am with them and they have good support. They have phone support. Ask them where they stand in what you want to do.

That's hard to answer, even the governments and lawmakers from the different countries have no clue how to handle this yet. They could not keep up with the speed of the internet.
