Name Change Not Allowed?

I was recently trying to change my username to my real name but I guess that ship sailed when WF was sold to freelancer?

Frustrating to say the least - I understand if a name change is being done for malicious reasons but one should be allowed to change their username should they wish to use their real name. Perhaps they should look at what Digital Point does - Allow a name change at a cost.

Disappointing freelancer.

    I was looking to do the same myself.

    I have a feeling it must be possible somehow, Tom Addams used to be GRM (GetRichMethods) if I'm not mistaken and has only changed in the last few months I think.

    Maybe contacting the admin/mods may bring some clarity.

    Have they told you that you can't change your name or are you just assuming that? If they haven't told you that, then go to the Help Desk link up top and request it. I don't know what the current rules are, but it used to be that you could change it one time. I don't know if you've already had a name change or not. You can't change it yourself, however. You need to request it from Freelancer.

    I submitted a ticket about a week ago to change my username. I even offered to pay a fee in my ticket. They said no.

    I changed mine a couple years ago. At that time there was a "Name change" option in the help desk.

    Seems they have changed that.

    I submitted a ticket and freelnacer responded saying it is not allowed (this was my first request) - I guess they changed the rules recently

    FL changed it to "no changes" and have stated that here. Changing it was something Thomas was willing to do in the past - he's not here now.

    One thing you can do is add your real name to the line right UNDER your "forum name"....several members have done that.

    Thanks Kay - Great Idea - and on a side note and in regards to your sig - so true. My dog was rescued from a dumpster as a puppy, he was being fostered until my wife and I found him. We gave him an incredible, loving home with lots of walks, runs, and swims. He was truly loved and it broke are hearts to have to see him pass away a few weeks ago. We did so knowing that although he came into this world unloved and tossed away he left this world with more love than he probably could have ever imagined.

    Funny that people have to pay for something that's in the forum's interest as well... users using real names give a forum more credibility. I hope WF allows this for free at some point.

      It's true Ralph - Using real names gives the user and the forum more credibility. Unfortunately it is not even a paid option, it is just not allowed. I hope they listen to you though and allow this for free at some point - free to change if you are changing to your real name.
