I have been using Wordpress for a couple of years and am just not getting into serious IM -- I've heard about XSite Pro and decided to give it a whirl and it is excellent but since I have been making websites since 1995 and have taught the skill too, I have very little problem with webby things.

Xsite is great but I don't know if it is the learning curve thing or my familiarity with Wordpress but on my latest endeavour which is to be my big launch into IM -- thanks to Jason Fladlien who recently did a report in which he said if your web site isn't making money then you're making a mistake --I have fun for me websites and one of them even got a page rank -- not a great one but for a personal page, it is kind of nice. Anyway, the issue is that I find it takes me a lot of time to get things done in Xsite whereas Wordpress seems to just build itself.

Actually he says If you're doing something that isn't making you money, stop it. So I did!

But I digress -- what I really want to know is what the wisdom is on Xsite vs. Wordpress. I appreciate any advice on whether one is better for optimization than the other if a person knows the basics of optimization anyway.

I wanted to post the link to Fladlien's report which is free but can't yet.... It's at goldmembercoaching and is called the failure report. And no I am not affiliated in any way...

hahah, both are just as good. If you have a website that do not have a lot of pages, using XsitePro is a great idea.

But if you have a lot of content coming in as the day pass by, then wordpress blog is better.

Of course, the best deal is to use both area in their own strength, and further increase your website using wordpress as added frequent content, strengthen the static website (XsitePro).

Try it, I have great result using them both instead of just one.

I still keep some of my "static" sites but I'm much more focused on WP. It's really easy to maintain WP blog and you do almost anything with that including squeeze page, optins, popups, etc..etc.. because of all that wonderful plugins you can install.

Aha -- I am glad I asked this question here as it makes it clear to me that both are great. I do/will have static pages but I have hundreds of pages and want to be able to trickle them in. So I can see using both together as Joshua suggests.

It doesn't really makes any difference whether you use a static site or a wordpress site. It is what you do to monetize the site that is important.

I had a static site with a page rank of 3 but didn't have a clue on how to monetize it. So I gave up and am now transferring all that information to a wordpress site for the simple reason that being somewhat technologically challenged I can now manage to do far more for myself (though I still ask a lot of questions).

Even if I start out a site as static, I usually end up switching it to WP because I think of something I want to add that I can't on a static site. So now I just start out with WP!

It all depends on what you want to do. Xsitepro is a great platform to simply, and easily build out content sites.

Wordpress, imo, has a lot more going for it since there are a ton of plugins, themes, and other flexible user interfaces out there that allow the wordpress site to conform to whatever you're trying to build.

      Hi,

I am very familiar with both WP and XSitepro for years.

All Xsitepro features can be done with WP + plugins.

After my skill with WP very well improved (now), my XSitepro is collecting dust in my hard disk since last year.

If it can be sold as second hand or used software, for sure i'll sell it.

WP is free and Xsitepro is paid software.

IMO, keep your money for other stuff. Or, give it to me lol

      Cheers..

      Nothing to sell

    GeekGranny,
You can always get your feet wet first by using wordpress, since it's a free software platform. Try it out and see if it's something that fits what you need to do. You don't lose anything in the process except the time it takes to learn something new

I just recently picked up a copy of Xsite and I have to say I am disappointed. I find it way to constraining for my needs. I think it really kills the creative juice.

I use Web Builder 6 and find this software to be pretty easy to use to build HTML sites. You will like it, if you like to have total control of the design process.

If you do a lot of Wordpress, and I do, try Artisteer template builder and also pickup this little piece of software to make installing a Wordpress site a breeze. It's called Wordpress Blog Installer.

Thanks, Rob! I am looking at Artisteer now. Yes -- while Xsite has some great features, I felt constrained. And uncreative.

          They both have a place.

In my opinion Xsite pro is much easier to learn for the beginner as far as customization goes. Wordpress is easy if you just get a theme and plugin your content, but if you want to customize it as a beginner, it will be a challenge.

Xsitepro is a complete package, but is not for blogging obviously, but what it is good for - affiliate sites, advertising monetized sites, it works very well.

I have had sites ranked higher using xsitepro than using wordpress in natural search.

It also keep everything very well organized. So you can have like 50 websites all with notes, coding, etc all together in 1 neat package.

Wordpress is wonderful as well of course. With a good theme, you can get a blog up and running in no time - if you are familiar with wordpress. If you want to customize it, it will take a little more time.

The thing to ask yourself is, why must you use one over the other?

They are all tools not the end product. Don't fall in love with the tool, that's the advice I always give.

I even still use adobe golive. It works great, is easy, and I can put up a page in 5 minutes. Even though it's outdated, and not sold anymore.

Good points, I do tend to get hung up on the tool and waste time that would be better put on the end product....
