Amazon Affiliate Application Denied

Well i made a site where i list top 10 products, and i got 2 sales after 1 month, and yesterday my application was reviewed, and apperently denied. This is the e-mail i got:

Hello,

Thank you for applying for the Associate program. Upon review, we are unable to accept your application. A part of our criteria is that your site has to be established with enough unique content. We rejected your application due to one or more of the following reasons.

- Lack of content which is original to your site and beneficial to your visitors
- Pages that are mainly empty when advertisement content is removed

Unfortunately, we arent able to review an application once its been rejected. If your website has been further developed and now contains appropriate content, youre welcome to submit another application by using the following URL:

https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/join

Thank you for your interest in Amazon Associates.

What can i do now? I Just was starting to get traffic and i get this email. Everything on the site is written by me personally and nothing is copied. The pages are Top 10's of stuff, and all i did was list 10 items on each page with a short description about each item.

What can i do? :/

Amazon have told you what's wrong and by doing so have also told you how to fix it.

I don't know but I suspect your top 10 site looks something like this:

TOP TEN BESTEST EVER THINGY MA JIGS

    1. This is an advert for a thingy ma jig

You should buy this from Amazon.

    2. This is an advert for a thingy ma jig

What's wrong is pretty much what Dave said, just above, except that you're promoting wireless routers rather than thingy ma jigs...

Your content is very "thin" (looks like a series of AdSense ads), and it is all ad content. If you have "reviews", you should put the actual review on the same page as the affiliate link to Amazon.

Each green box is an ad that consists of the product name, it's description, and a "buy" button.

If you remove each of those green boxes... you have an empty page.

They have explained EXACTLY what the problem is and have told you how to fix it: MORE ORIGINAL CONTENT!!!

What more can anyone here tell you?

Even if you wrote the descriptions yourself, you lose on this one. Looking at the screen shot, and for each item you get Picture > Ad Copy > Buy Link.

Try adding content that explains how you came to choose these as YOUR top10 and why you ranked them the way you did. Otherwise, you'll keep getting the same reaction.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I dont think there is any other way to do Top 10's, except adding 2x more words than it currently has. If the words is the problem, i can do more, but will that solve the problem? What more should i do?

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

1337Teh, you are confusing copywriting with content writing.

Copywriting is using words to persuade someone to buy your product.
Content writing is using words to provide interesting and helpful information to potential buyers.

        For instance:

Soccer Mom Cheering for the Netgear Nighthawk

Julie, a busy soccer mom with 3 kids in high school and a part-time job, was dismayed to come home after a grueling day to find that Rover had once again gone bonkers, this time in the home office.

The computer chair was on it's side, and the vase full of silk flowers was, well, everywhere. Worst of all, the computer router was chewed to pieces. Thank heaven, Rover didn't swallow any of the plastic bits. As far as we know.

Julie would have been more upset about the router, except that it never really did work all that well. She had been promising herself, and the hubby and kids, that she'd get a new one as soon as she had a few minutes. Heh, heh, no excuses now, eh Julie?

She did her research, like any responsible soccer mom minding her budget, and knew when she read the specs and saw all the little yellow stars next to the name, that the Netgear Nighthawk was going to make everyone happy.

The minute she got it up and running, or rather, as soon as her 14-year old did, she was overjoyed. It was doing everything the company promised, no blips, no download delays, no problems. Yep, that day was twittered.

So what, exactly, is so wonderful about the Netgear Nighthawk? According to a review by Corny&Corny (Netgear's Best Router), this puppy ...<< insert information about the router from other sources, re-write any text you can find, be authoritative.

THAT'S the content Amazon is looking for.

I know you want to make money as an Amazon affiliate but the truth is that you need a site that doesn't just give basic description of the product and a link to Amazon.

All you have on the photo you posted are the names of the products and some basic product descriptions. The problem is that the product description can be found on hundreds of other sites. Product descriptions on your site add no value.

You should put reviews by real people, you should put comparison between products. That's something that users and Amazon would see as benefitial and useful. The other way to go about it is to post 15-20 posts about general topics related to the niche you're targeting. In other words, no matter what you do don't make your site just an affiliate site, put some text and reviews or comparisons. Make it look more like a resource not an affiliate made website.

Add more content to your site, then reapply
    or
start a new site with more content..

Just do what they say: add more original content then reapply. Start a blog, post some articles, etc.

Remember "Original Content" is just that. Taking the info from amazon or another source and changing the words is not original.

Yeah the copy on your page is all very 'salesy'. It reads like a longer version of what each product says on the back of the box, rather than your own opinions on each product.

I would try rewriting your posts to look less like an ad to buy a product and more like a honest review list. Once that is done I don't see any issues with reapplying!

I get the impression you have no idea how to write engaging reviews. I STRONGLY advise you read Erica Stone's "Extreme Review" Guide to writing Amazon reviews. She first published this back in April 2011, but she's updated it every year since, and only the other day I received a notification from her to download the 2016 update (all her updates are free).

If you don't want to pay for this (foolish decision ) she also offers a free Course Via Email.

Also, a significant amount of your content should simple be articles talking about the products you are selling. Just useful information, helping and entertaining- NOT selling.

here is an example of how your post should be formatted. Note that each one is a mini review.

This is for email popup software but the process is the same

The 7 Best Email Subscription Popup Plugins for WordPress (2016) (I have no association with this site, I was just looking for different solutions)

You could also just google "Best hosting" or "best digital cameras" or anything like that and you will fine example after example on how these type of posts should be formatted

Thanks a lot for your replies everyone. I started adding more content, and i am writing at least 600 words per review page right now.

By the way, should i compile everything into one site or should i just make seperate sites for each niche? I am using Youtube to get traffic mostly so i dont think doing niche sites is worth it.

    Thanks a lot!

You have shown them the top 10 routers but you haven't told them why or backed it up. Think as the customer when looking at it.

    Add more content.
