I am starting a new site with wordpress and having problems figuring it out. How do you add quote boxes, etc.. to the pages. I have the html code, I just don't know how to put it in and move it around on the page. Any good videos or tutorials out there? I appreciate the help!!

Not sure what you're saying but I'll try & help with what I know. So if you have the html code already, it's <blockquote></blockquote>

All you have to do is put what you want to be quoted in between the two. Moving it around, you just put it wherever you want. That's about it...

Jayson, in the admin area.. Look for the "Appearance" menu then choose "widgets". The Choose the "Text" Widget from the Available widgets and place it where you would like for the box to appear on the page. For the Widget click the drop down arrow and then paste your html in that box.. Click Save and check the results on your page.

I guess I need more information to be able to help you. I have many blogs and all are wordpress.

Some use widgets, but then you are limited to them and the code being on the sidebars.

If you are trying to move the blockquote around then it boils down to html in each post.

Give me a little more of what you are trying to do specifically and i will try to assist.

    Peace, DJ Bill

    Hello Jayson,

The thing about Wordpress you should know is this, "NOT ALL WORDPRESS THEMES" are created equally! You are currently using a Theme called NEOease, which I didn't take any time to check but the rule of thumb is; if it is a low cost or free theme, the functionality will be limited (Coders don't give away hot Themes for free or for cheap) and the Theme won't be as robust as a paid Theme.

Some of the top themes are: Church WordPress themes by Brian Gardner, Thesis WordPress Theme by DIY Themes and of course the Flexx Themes.

In terms of SEO Optimization, even with WordPress, it IS NOT automatic! (a). You will still need to perform your Keyword Research (b). You will still need to insure that your Permalink structure settings are correct. (c). You will still need to market your website.

I see the box up at the top...however it is jumping off the sidebar to the right! You may need to adjust the CSS a little to make it a bit wider to accomodate.

I am thinking you will get a lot of different people chiming in about the Permalink structure.

    I use a custom one of /%postname%

    ...some say /%postname%.html

    ...some say /%category%/%postname%

The post name works well....so make sure your POSTS have your keywords you are targeting in them.

    Good luck...hope this helps.

Ok, I'll make this real simple for you; grab Jeff Johnson's WordPress SEO Plugin at undergroundtraininglab.com. There's a free version and a professional version. The free version ROCKS! I use the pro version on my sites and the free version on my client's sites. It's an easy installation and setup because Jeff even includes videos. Once you complete the install, the Plugin will walk you through tweaking your Blog for optimum performance including properly structuring your Permalinks. It's so awesome, you don't have to know what a Permalink is. It will simply tweak all of your settings. When you use the WP Plugin together with the, "All in One SEO Plugin" you've got an awesome combination to help you build a solid SEO campaign.

Of course, before installing any plugins, perform a back up of your files, (as always) and make sure you're using the latest version of WordPress, which is WordPress 2.8.4.
