Try This For Monetizing Your Blog

I have a blog that gets about 1500 uniques per day,
and I am constantly trying new things to improve
the site's monetization (i.e., make money!)

Typically the most responsive approach is some
sort of zip code submit campaign where I get paid
on a per lead basis.

This morning I tried something new just for grins
and set up a banner ad featuring one of my own
"make money" products. But instead of using a boring
ebook cover as the image, I used a funny picture of
me fishing and added some text about making money
while having lots of fun.

Now the day is still young, but so far I've had lots more
clicks than I normally would have from the site at
this point. It's actually kind of fun to keep checking
my stats!

So my tip is this: try something silly and eye catching
when you create your next ad (maybe use an actual
photo like I did).

Granted, it's nothing earth-shattering but worth a try.
I'll post back in a day or two with my results.

Actually, that's a very good idea. I think people are used to the hum drum, work from home, make millions banners and links.

    Thanks for the idea!

    Thanks for that tip, Brian!

Maybe one of you guys can help me out with this:

My wife (and I) have three blogs set up right now related to teen celebrity/entertainment (the popular stars, etc). In July, we had nearly 100,000 Unique Visitors to all sites combined, but we are still only making money (Adsense) on the smallest of the three (6,000 uniques/month, $4-7 avg/day).

With that kind of traffic, I've got to believe we should be making a LOT more money than that, but not sure what other monetization to implement that would be appropriate for our audience.

Any ideas from you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The reason why you have experienced a higher click through rate is because people relate to real pictures as it makes it more believeable to them.

Using a picture of a persons head or just a real picture is a very good attention grabber when it comes to advertising.
