It's here: Noitartst.com. I am loking for specific laundry list of improvements to make on it. What are they? To wit, I want an About page, a Blog one, and a Contact.

The landing page, though...that is the Question. I'm thinking of merging the Home and About pages.

  • Here are my thoughts.

First you need to either remove the header image or move it so that you text is not bleeding into it.

Next you need to have a line that separates your sidebar from your main content. This is on your homepage.

I also noticed that your blog posts don't have a sidebar. I would add a sidebar so that you can allow your visitors can navigate your site better.
  • Is it a personal blog or do you have a plan to sell services as I see you have a services button?
  • 1. You might want to consider adding a logo for your title "Noitartst". Not really necessary, but it's worth considering.

    2. Your header should be moved further up and placed below the Navigation, or place above the navigational bar.

    3. On your About Us page, the huge image covers much of the screen real estate. If the visitor doesn't notice the scroll bars on the right, he might click away.

    4. For your blog entries, I recommend having the blog post titles underlined so the visitors will know to click on it.

    5. For your Contact page, I doubt there's a need for that photo of a train track. It seems needless as the visitor is more interesting in contacting you, so the form should be front and center.
  • Are you trying to sell something with your site?

If yes, text on your homepage should focus on benefits that you visitors are going get.

    Hope it helps.

    • Well, yes, but first, I'm trying to get others to view it, first, and I've been reading up on a lot of sites, trying to understand how to monetize it, once it's working. Basically, this blog is my spin on the news, and for the kind of people watching, I suppose that advertising pay-to-see media sites would be the best bet.

That, and eventually becoming one, myself; those are the best monetizing ideas I've yet come up with.

For now, I'm just focusing on making my site decent; it needs work, and I'm trying to learn how to work an organic t=call to action into my blog posts.

Thank you for the comments; I'll be utilizing them on my site.
  • do really see this as being a list building site.

I have a client who had a similar site, and told him to put optin top, and on every page/post.

His income basically quadrupled in the months ahead.

So I would tell you to do this. Start building a bigger list, so when you post you can email all your customers and keep you on their brain. If you content is good, you will start to make things great.

Plus you can sell affiliate products in your niche [there are a ton by the way] and this would be a way to increase your success and also your profitability.

Do a lot of SEO and start doing keyword research to find good keywords according to your content.

    • Okay; how do I monitor it? Via Google Analytics? I'm still trying to get help to set that up, right.

Also, how does this tie in to getting my whole site ranked on Google, as opposed to pages? I know SEO-ing my posts are important, but what of my whole site.? I'm trying to understand what I need to know, better.

But, build a list, right from the get-go: Got it.

Oh--and here's my elevator spiel on Fiverr: Hello; I'm basically seeking someplace that can provide me effective site updates on my blog. I'm trying multiple iterations, to make my site look good, and effective. Do you provide that kind of service?

      Hopefully, that works--whadya think?
  • Oh...and I found a gig, here.

Do you think it's what I'm looking for, in terms of website help? And then pay someone else for smaller updates?

Found another, here. Will this do for my purposes?
  • Add more photos to your page.

Make your write-ups a bit longer.

    Make your page more appealing.
  • Ditch the theme you are using or rewrite the code using BootStrap, you don't need to capitalize the theme folders.

The sidebar is overlapping the banner on the homepage?

Change the blue to a softer tone, match any blue on your site to this. Use primary and secondary colours.

    Remove italics.
  • You are using a crap theme - the list of blog posts is obscured by the wide screen graphic, what is that graphic doing anyway?
If you use a better organised theme it will allow you to position your page elements in a more attractive and logical manner. I suggest one of these:
Any of the Elegant Themes collection
    Genesis Framework
    WooThemes Canvas
I think most of your site issues are the result of that shitty theme. If you want a decent theme let me know I can let you have one (no charge).
  • People have been giving you advice for some time in various threads. At last one thread was deleted because of your defensive attitude and anger at anyone who critiques your blog in a negative way.

I just went to the blog (again) - and nothing has changed. You have not taken any of the advice people here (in several forum sections) have provided to you.

What is the point of hiring someone to promote a blog with posts dated 2014? The writing is just as pretentious and convoluted as many COPYWRITERS told you some time ago.

I won't be visiting the blog again - you haven't made a single change that was suggested to you in several threads. Just advising you not to spend much money trying to promote it as I think it would be money wasted.

I know this is not the first time I've made negative comments about the blog. Clearly, advice isn't being taken seriously so I won't try again. Good luck to you.
  • I have no idea of what to do, or what the site is about when i visit your page. Make it simple. Present an offer of your services, offer something for free, and just sell. Right now i doubt if anybody understands it. How many sales or clients have you gotten so far? It also needs a redesign.
  • Well, I don't know how to update my blog, that's why; I don't know what to do, or who to ask; I'd take a college course had I the funds, so instead I'm looking for help over Fiverr, or Craigslist; I found someone capable of helping me video edit, who's an ongoing resource, but none for my blog; it's a pain.
  • Choose another theme or layout.

Add more testimonials. Add more photos. Maximize your page.

    • That's the goal. In any case, I've constructed a list of upgrades for my site. Here they are:

Anything I missed, in there? For one, the primary and secondary buttons need to be deleted, if they just aren't doing nothing.

      What good're they, anywho?
  • In my honest opinion and no offense meant I think you should change the whole look.

Find some photos that are more appealing. Use more background that suits your site.
  • Re: How Should I Improve My Blog Site?

    You could delete it !!
  • what you need to do is make your page look better. it is all so confusing and the theme you used nedds to be changed. Make it simple for the visitors.
