Warriors, Is My Squeeze Page System Old School Or New School?

Hello Warriors,
I wanted to share with you something you all probably know and do already. But we'll see! What I do with my squeeze pages now after picking up tips here and there is this:

I send traffic to my squeeze page and some people sign up for a free ebook, then I send them to a tell a friend script(viralfriendgenerator) where I offer them another $97 value ebook and website for telling 3 of their friends about my initial offer(ebook). They can choose to tell their friends or they can choose "skip this..I don't want to tell any friends". Either way I then send them to a one time offer for digital products. If they order they will be taken to clickbank and then get an email about the ebook they signed up for and where to get it. If they choose not to order the one time offer they just click the link at the bottom of that page and go to the downlaod page where they can download the ebook they signed up for in the first place.

So basically it goes like this:
Traffic>Squeeze Page>Tell A Friend Script>OTO>Download Page

What I was wondering is if anyone else is doing this or is this old school now?
Is there a better system out there? Or do you think I have overdone it with the 2 extra steps, of the tell a friend script and OTO, to getting their free ebook.

I like it because I can have others help me build my list and also have a chance at making some money while building my list!

    Interesting layout. Question - how well does it work for you? Do you lose optins because of non-confirms? Do you actually get sales through the process?

    I use a straight landing page with signup and then success url that gives instructions to confirm and get the freebie. I only have about 10% that never confirm.

    Once they confirm, THEN I send them to my freebie download and they get the first email with the freebie DL link again and a "soft sell" on my product.

    My sales generally come from email 5 or 7 in my autoresponder sequence.

    Once they buy the product, THEN I do an upsell. I want to make sure they are dues paying, CC waving fans before I try to upsell them.

    I'd be interested in your answers.

      Actually I never do it like you do winebuddy. I never make them reconfirm before they get their product. Even if I didn't use the Tell a friend and OTO I would still send them right to the download page upon submit and let them reconfirm later. I still only have about 10-15% who do not reconfirm. It works Ok. I get a low 1-3% OTO order rate and most of my sales also come from the emails I send them.

    Here's an alternative that I use on a couple of my squeeze pages.

    opt-in page > confirm page

    When they click the confirm link from aweber 2 things happen.

    #1 The first email thanks the new prospect, and gives the direct link to the download page - be sure to have some affiliate banners, if it's an IM report then Jeff Dedrick's instant bonus page is fantastic.

    #2 Set up a confirm link in aweber for your OTO, what I have done is record a video that explains about a product I'm a reseller of, and how today only they can get a 50% discount. By doing this your list will get to know what you look like, and that you're going to making them offers as part of your marketing, very important tactics for building a relationship.

    Finally if you do join Jeff's site be sure to include my site on your download page.
