Hi everybody. I just need a little clarification from the pros out there...

Lets say "Blue widget" is searched for more often than "blue widgets". Everything else being equal, would bluewidget(dot)com be more valuable than bluewidgets(dot)com (for SEO purposes)?

    well you will need to check if there are more searches using the 's' or without it.

      If your sales page is about "blue widget" and you are lucky enough to find bluewidget.com available, then grab it.

      But if you have to take bluewidgets.com then it won't hurt you. Just optimize your site for both blue widget and blue widgets. Google is way clever enough to realize what your site is about.

      Then you want some longtail keyword phrases in there to reinforce the blue widget theme and pick up extra traffic.

      "desktop widgets"
      "desktop widget"
      "dashboard widget"
      "midnight blue widget"
      blah blah

      Then you have the LSI stuff. No keyword stuffing, just stay on theme.

      "The most popular of our widgets is the blue one"
      "When you're looking for a widget, then the blue version will give the best results"

        If the domain is important to you try to also get the dashes

        ie ... blue-widget(s).com ... they also have value ... one of my sites is number 2 on google

        ahead of Fox News and Wikipedia because of this.

    so I would think it would be best for domain name.
