Do you HAVE to have a blog for affiliate marketing?

The idea is to build a list before you do anything else.

Then you can build relationships by sending that traffic to your blog, youtube or any other platform that you have valuable content so they can watch it or read it.

Then you occasionally promote an affiliate product to them.

But because you've taught them to open your emails, click on those emails and because you provide massive value upfront - they will know that the product you're promoting is of great value as well (and hopefully it is).

That's how you make those sales.

So is having a blog important?

    It is.

But only if you know what you need it for.

Posting just a few outsourced articles from a writer in India and hoping you'll get some free traffic from Google to make money from your ads is not the best blogging strategy.

At least, that isn't how I would use one.

there are some successful WF here managed to earn from blog and allifate without building list. ( well no doubt a lot will claim they leave another pile of money on the table ) but anyway i believe ....is up to individual ...way of marketing

as long managed to earn ....who care what methods ...be it white hat or black hat way.....

of course black hat way will have some pit fall as like a " time bomb " you don't know when it will get Red alert.....but anyway up to individual preference.

The same can be said for 99% of the questions asked around here or anywhere else. There's really no point anymore to allow people to post questions and answers, because it's all out there somewhere on the Web. Why do we need sites like this?

oh wait... that whole "community" thing... yes....

Yes, of course, most of the answer are already out there, BUT like you said it is mainly about the COMMUNITY.

Believe it or not, i think it's important because it is like family.

Getting an answer from a newspaper or from people who you can interact with I would choose people all day long.

Is it absolutely crucial or necessary to have a blog as an affiliate marketer?

    No.

However, depending on the niche, a blog can certainly help a lot.

It can be a place to publicly showcase your expertise, brand yourself as the go-to-person in that niche, help establish networking opportunities, and generate organic traffic from search engines and social shares.

To me personally, a blog will be more personal, casual and can creates more "humane" touch. It has personality, expression and attitude of a person or entity. Whereas a website is more commercially-driven and product/services-driven.

      Hi schaschwin,

There is not much difference between website and blog.Blogs are considered as a website as well. But if you really must get an answer for this let's take an example.

A website is something which will represent your entire niche or product. For example, you can have a website about internet marketing. Now within your website you write something about a specific niche or topic let's say it will be considered as a blog.

That is more or less a difference between them. But as I said before, blogs are considered also.People use this term interchangeably.

A blog helps people do business with you and not just some random affiliate pitching his/her link all over the place. People like to do business with people they know, like and trust. A blog will help do that.

Having your own blog is not "crucial" or "compulsory" for an affiliate marketing. You can create many money making niche websites to earn money without having your own blog with your real name.

But having a blog helps to gain trust and make direct and useful connections with real people. People only buy high ticket items from real people only.

It's not crucial to have a blog. It is crucial that you have an email list though to continually market to. What made you think that you *needed* a blog? Blogging can be used for relationship building, but the same can be said about forums and social media sites.

It's not crucial but it can only help your Business. For some of my Niches ( like MMO I am in) I use a Blog as a "dumping ground" to syndicate all my original content from my Broadcasts and Follow Ups.

Ben Settle does the same thing. Limited work and limited Focus on it. But it works well

Nope. But you need some type of traffic method. I think email marketing + affiliate marketing is a great combination.

That being said, if you conduct email marketing, you may as well have a blog too, right?

(YAY Ben Settle. He is SO cool)

IMO, no. A blog platform is not necessary. All that is needed is an online presence of some sort.

I'm not into WP 'cause I started out in HTML, so I go the standard web site route to build my presence, and load it with articles. I used to write 2 - 3 articles a week. That was before the blog platform was invented for frequent writers.

There is some selling I will be doing with nothing more than a Fan Page and FB store - and of course, the opt-in because, again IMO, email marketing is incredibly lucrative.

However, there are those who do phenomenally well using only the small screen social media. It's not for everybody, mind you, but if you have the genes and stamina to do it, go for it.

Recently a Warrior friend of mine, Verena Ho of Journey to 10,000 Visitors Per Month fame, wrote to me about a woman named Mari Smith.

Mari is drop dead amazing. She started on Facebook, but did eventually start a blog. Her main claim to fame is her Twitter following of more than 500K. She is what is known as an Influencer. Mari Smith does not worry about paying the electric bill.

Dark Knight, it boils down to what you feel you can take to the moon and back. If blogging isn't for you, don't do it. There are a ton of other methods to use that will net you a freedom lifestyle.

I agree with Danieldesai comment. It is not necessary but it can definitely help you eventually brand yourself as an expert. Really you want to ask yourself... " Do I always want to sell for other people and make them money" or "Do I want to become an expert and have other people sell for me". That is what a blog will do for you because as you post your experiences on you blog people will start to ask you questions and these questions can give you ideas for an info product you can create and have other people drive traffic for you. Affiliate marketing is great but it takes a lot of time on your part but if you can transition to becoming the expert yourself you can just sit back and watch the dollars roll in.

As others have said above, a blog is necessary if you know what you want it for.

Consider your marketing business as a quiver, your customers as a target, and your marketing efforts as the arrows in your quiver. The more arrows you have, the more chances you have of hitting the target. The more targets you hit, the more money you make.

Your blog is another arrow in your quiver

I don't think it is really important that you should have a blog for affiliate marketing. If you have a blog that could be a great advantage but not mandatory. You can bring targeted traffic from Facebook. You can also use Facebook Ads to bring targeted traffic. When you are trying to promote through Facebook, I suggest you to customize your Ads.

You don't need a blog to make money with affiliate marketing but I highly suggest you get one so you have a web property you own and control. If you have a free blog on Blogger.com they can shut you down for any reason. If you're marketing with a Facebook page the powers that be over at Facebook can shut you down...you get the point. Get yourself a self-hosted wordpress blog setup for $50. Spend $10 a month on some hosting plus $20 for an email service provider like Aweber and you're officially in business.

Well, it depends on what kind of business model you want to do and what you want to accomplish with your blog. However, there's no harm creating a blog so that on and off you can get traffic from it and even direct traffic to your blog for valuable content. However, maintaining the blog and coming with content might be challenging.

One thing I have always liked about tying blogging and affiliate marketing together is your ability to create credibility through pre-selling.

The way to do that is...

    1. Buy the product.
    2. Use it and learn everything about it.
    3. Write reviews that include both the good and bad things about the product.
    4. Publish them in a blog post.
    5. Link to your affiliate link sales page, or to a landing page for list building.

If you don't want to go that route consider building a niche email list for your product and do some email marketing. I call this TOMA which is short for "top of mind awareness" advertising.

This way you are in front of your prospect when they are ready to buy whether it is today, 6 months from now, or longer.

I don't think you have to have a blog, but I believe it's crucial if you want to brand yourself and your business.

I look at it as my "base of operations," so to speak. I use it to post relevant articles, product reviews, my videos, etc.

It's also a fantastic way to build a list of really targeted and quality leads. If somebody subscribes to your list because they were truly impressed with your content, that's a high quality lead IMO.

I would say that if you are serious about starting a real Affiliate Marketing business and carving out a reputation for yourself in the industry, you will definitely want to have your own blog.

You may do this business for short period of time without any blog site. Even you can use the free service of Blogger or, Wordpress. There is no problem. But it is better to have a site to be more success in the affiliate programing. Best of luck.
