Niche Ideas: 4 Years from now

I don't know if this will be popular in 2020, but you can start to monetize this new technology right now.

4-D TV.

This is the latest technology jump from 3-D and Regular HD.

The prices are pretty high right now, but as the price will eventually come down so that everyone will be able to afford a 4D TV.

It may be worth some time and effort to get established in the niche before the masses learn about it.

PS. Another way to learn what new technology is coming down is by going to electronic shows where they show you whats coming in the future.

Noone knows, but I would advise you to continue working on already created sites, at least they're popular now (I hope)

Virtual Reality is going to take off in my opinion. That would make all sorts of courses teachable in a new matter.
Not to mention games, movies, perhaps even dating. Will be interesting to see.

This is one of the reasons why you should always work on evergreen niches, sure, people will always be amazed of technology, however our basic needs will remain the same.

I also agree that VR will be big, along with the technology surrounding it. Evergreen things will always be popular, as people will always want to loose weight, lose acne, find themselves and have dogs that that don't eat their furniture!

In 2020, social media will be powerful and if you able to capture some ground over there then you will be making tons of money.

Your question presupposes what I consider an incorrect definition of a niche. A niche isn't a type of product or a topic. It's what you do; how you fit into the business landscape; the value you create.

Take the 4-D TV example listed above. 4-D TVs may or may not be a big deal in four years, but let's suppose that they are. Even so that's not the end of the story when it comes to what niches will be popular in 4 years -- because 4-D TVs aren't a niche. Instead there are dozens if not hundreds of niches related to 4-D TVs.

For instance, there is a niche to be filled by electronics manufacturers who actually build the TVs. There is a niche for the large PR and advertising firms who will work on behalf on the electronics manufacturers to market the TVs. There's a niche for the retailers who will sell the TVs to consumers. There will be a niche for bloggers and other media outlets who will write about the TVs as they come out. There's a niche for the script writers, actors, animators, directors, producers and all the rest of the content creators who will be creating all the programming that will be played on those TVs. And on and on and on.

The reason I bring this up is that it's pretty clear that even though technology may change, for the most part the niches will remain the same. There are electronics manufacturers now, there will be electronic manufacturers in the future. There are PR firms, retailers, bloggers, script writers, actors, animators, directors and producers now and there will still be all of those whether or not 4-D TVs become ubiquitous.

Sure there will be some differences. When "talkie" movies supplanted silent films, there were new opportunities for sound engineers and actors like Reginald Denny (who had a thick German accent despite playing "All-American" cowboys) had trouble making the transition. But many actors did transition; the same studios made the movies; and people for the most part went to the same (though upgraded) movie palaces they went to in the silent era.

To me the lesson is this: rather than worrying about predicting the future, the best way to ensure you'll be in a successful niche in four years or fourteen years is to be in a successful niche now. After all, how much different will it be blogging about or retailing 4-D TVs than it is blogging about or retailing the current generation of 2-D TVs? Probably not much. And while all businesses need to adapt and improve in order to grow (or just survive), it's more likely a new competitor who's going to put you out of business rather than some new type of product.

Online conversions will always be a great niche

I'd concentrate on products and services for the elderly. Baby Boomer generation will be around for a long time. Save the products you promote and the strategies you employ for the millennial's time around. They're another sizable segment of the population.

Security will always be a factor. Maybe drone protection.

Too much reliance on satellite networks I think.

Contrary to what a fraction of Americans believe including one actually running for president Global Warming is going to have huge implications.

Pollution as well. I remember some guy who had nose filters on Shark Tank will probably do very well.

If a new president cancels affordable health care act, there could be a lot of disruption in the health insurance sector. Perhaps providing leads to a insurance provider could work.

We know a few things about demographic trends: People in the industrial world are both getting older, yes even in China, as well as getting more diverse.

We also know a few things seem like obvious areas for growth: transportation, what if the HyperLoop works? What's the next health care disruption? How does it effect culture as more people work from home? What if more people work as freelancers than ever before?

I have some ideas here-but in a future oriented discussion your own opinion is going to be more important anyway

I'll bet, with the "rise of the machines" there will be a lot about robots and artificial intelligence software and products.

You don't need to identify "what will be new" - you need the ability to adapt to changes as they occur. That is what keeps YOUR business relevant. It's something that has sunk marketers here in the past.

If you become overly attached to your own idea/niche/product and unwilling to change it or abandon it for a new product or a new promotional method - you can easily become yesterday's news.

The niches that are relevant in four years will be a result of events far outside our control. Wars, stock market, natural catastrophes - and many much smaller societal influences are beyond our prediction or control. However, almost every event has associated opportunities for those able to adapt.

A different way to consider, and while it doesn't answer the OP's question, it might be equally worthwhile:

What do you wish you'd done 4 years ago? For me, it would be more focus on list building, and consistent efforts applied to a few authority sites and social media efforts.

Four years goes by before you know it; don't look back four years from now and say "wow, I wished I'd done/stuck with/started/etc. four years ago".

Health & Weight Loss will always be popular. If 65% of the country are over weight now, what will it be like in 2020? Same thing with the Relationships & Men's Niches.

I think some niches such as: health, cancer, technology, mobile, AI robot will be the hot trend until 2020. Just focus on them and maybe you will get a high profit

I guess for my generation nothing will change much. The 3 P's....

Prune juice, prostrate and poverty will still be a problem for many. Actually making money online will be a great niche because old people are becoming more Internet savvy and computer literate.

Yes, the make money online niche will be more saturated but those who take the right actions now, will become the wealthiest of affiliate marketers for years to come.

Hard to say when it comes to niches like those.

Who knows...

Maybe in 4 years someone will come in and dominate Amazon / Facebook / any other big platform.

Less seriously, I'd consider my niche and whether it relies on search traffic from Google. If so, is the niche something Google will make it harder it rank, or even impossible to rank for, as Google takes more content in-house and takes over selected niches.

With expected grown of voice search, how vulnerable is the niche if a person is not viewing a list of websites on a screen to decide who to visit?

Is this a long-term niche? Or where is traffic going to come from?

If you apply this analysis (and you can apply it for whatever your traffic source is, not just Google) there are a lot of niches not worth pursuing.

Additionally, will more robotics and AI impact your niche? Again, there are a lot of niches not worth pursuing.

Augmented Reality is set to revolutionize computing. Rather than the use of screens we will use glasses.

Augmented Reality will be such a pervasive niche, that it will disrupt many current routine practices.

The leaders in the field state that within 5 years AR glasses will be weightless and not too far from that - they will in all likelihood be invisible ie contact lenses.

Hi, watch what your kids are doing now with I phones etc..they will decide the future. Japanese just bought a UK chip company ARM for 26 billion pounds..IMO TV will become obsolete as we know it in time. Create a craze like pokemon lol..it worked for skate boards, yo yo's and more..
