Setting Up Pre-Payments

Is there an easy way to allow customers to buy a course and put their credit card down, but then not actually pay for the course until it's delivered (say two or three months later)?

Can this be done with PayPal?

Thanks

    Yes...you can do this with paypal. I think it's done with their subscription payment option.

    You can set up a subscription payment with a trial period for as long as you want. Note: The subscription could be a lifetime subscription, yearly, monthly, etc.)

    After the trial period is over, then the payment will automatically be paid via paypal.

    When I look in PayPal, it gives me the option to stop the billing cycle, but the lowest option is gives me is to stop the cycle after 2 times.

    If I use a trail period, does that count as one time?

    If not, it looks like I have to charge people at least twice.

      Paypal assumes that you will have at least 2 payment cycles (after the free trial) simply because it IS intended to be a "subscription".

      Therefore, their wizard for creating a subscription button does NOT provide for just 1 recurring billing, and there is no way to override that with the use of their button wizard.

      However, after the button is created, simply save the underlying code (it's just an HTML form with a bunch of hidden variables) to a file on your local machine. Open that file with a text editor and simply change the value of the 'srt' field to 1.

      example:
      <input type='hidden' name='srt' value='1'>

      Yes, paypal does. And, if you log into your paypal account there is a link to contact them. Use that link, get the phone number and give them a call. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes on hold to talk to them

    In case anyone else is looking for this, I found that Gumroad lets you set up prepayments. You can also change your release date, moving it forward or backward.
