Dear experienced marketers,

I am newbie. I'm strongly willing to start internet business.

I need to know how to select one topic for my online business.

Can You Suggest 3 Better Ways to Choose Niche Topic?

Where to do start the research?
What to do step-by-step?
And more things that you suggest?

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi, I'm a newbie as well, but as far as I have understood by now the first thing you do in your quest for your own niche is just sit down and thouroghly think of two main lists:
First: what you know best (or can call yourself an expert in)
Second: what you want to learn most of all
Both these lists can bring you some idea to start with.

There are also other ways to start: i.e. you begin asking people at your rich what are their most urgent needs and try to find a solution to those needs - not a bad product to ask money for, isn't it?

There's also a way to be honest and address everyone successful online marketer you come across with a kind of interview where you ask those very questions you want to now by the time. In future it may become a great source of information to share (either for free - to get your subscribers or for a consideration - if the information you gather is really precious).

Good luck in your serch and don't forget to share with your progress )))

First of all when it comes to a Niche, you need to know what's in demand and the least people promoting it. I'd advocate that you search for "Casey Gentles" as he has an excellent post on "keywords" if you check out his posts.

You can also use Google's Wonder Wheel which is under "other options" when you do a search. This allows you to drill down, and what I mean by that is you can find similar words related to that niche. You could find something red hot that way.

Personally for me I think that when you find your niche, you can find a product to promote and then do article writing. Don't attempt Pay per click unless you know what you are doing.

Learn how to write articles that bring traffic, but you would need to write a few of them. I can't comment on how many exactly, but someone let the cat out of the bag with product they had bought, and in it they were told to write 75 unique articles over a 30 day period, and 25 rewritten ones, and there were other things they had to do.

There have been some great posts in the forum of late and I suggest that you do a lot of reading here as suggested and learn learn learn!

    All the best

Niches are good, but choose something you enjoy.

I am no expert (as I focus only on a few niches), but if I had to do it I would use
    - Micro Niche Finder
    - Google Trends
    - Amazing Best Selling
    - Keep an eye on Google News for topics
    - Search top viewed on You Tube and other sites

Three tools I would recommend when searching for a profitable niche, are Ezinearticles.com as a research tool. Go to their main page and look at all the article categories. Review a few of the articles in a niche you feel an attraction to. Get familiar with the material. Find the top author in the field you've chosen and study what they have done.
Get the free version of Web CEO and learn all you can about using it. They have tons of tutorials. You will be able to develop solid research results with that tool. I recommend staying with keywords that come in at over 2500 searches a month and with a competition of no more than 500,000 pages.

Once you've gotten a few projects under your belt and you want to get more ambitious, you can swim with the sharks.

You will need to learn how to maneuver around the Google SEO tools. Google Trends and Keyword analysis are vital to getting stuff done. That's it from my corner of the room. Good luck.

I have a hobby that I would rather be doing than anything else in the world and there are many levels at which to make money with it from. What better niche for me to spend vast amounts of time and energy on without getting burned out?

When you decide to do something - look at if you could spend vast amounts of time on it without it driving you crazy. If the stats aren't perfect, it will take longer to work it, but it will be a long term business and you will continue to find better ways to market better services for it.

      Hi,

I think, it is important to first start with the basic that is, give a brief of Internet Marketing Strategies and then start of with choosing the niche.

The Niche topics can be like,
Submitting in some good and relevant directories
Sell your services and products to the niche category of any online business site like Amazon.com or Ebay.com

By this, you can get lot of traffic to your site and also it will boost your revenue also.

      Thanks!!

You have to actually be interested and enjoying
what you will make money on or you will be either bored or hate it.

I guess you have a great deal of knowledge or skills in a hobby.
Try to find a forum about that hobby.
Create a user and start helping people.
Maybe start a blog and share some good knowledge.
Link to the blog in your forumsignature.

In the blog you can recommend products/services
among your knowledge or have it as ads in the sidebar.

    A good tip:
Write a ebook to download for your blogreaders.
    Keep it on your hobby.
Link to that from the forumsignature.
Have links to the forum and your blog from within.
The ebook will spread on the net and give you free traffic.

Also start or join a facebook group within your hobby.
Post good knowledge and lead the people to your blog.

Many people will tell you to find a product first, then research the market, competition and keywords. The whole purpose of the niche research is to dig deeper and uncover a very specific market, identify its target audience and find out what it is they need and are willing to pay for. If you can work in that order, you will notice your return on investment to be far greater when compared to a regular "cracked out" niche site. People will always be willing to pay more for specialized information and services than they are for general market advice.

If you're new to niche marketing then I highly suggest starting off with a niche that you are knowledgeable in, or have a passion for. The reason this usually works out better is because maintaining a website within a niche that you are passionate about will not turn into a tedious task that you are trying to avoid.

I will tell you the way I do it.

First of all go to Amazon.com Bestsellers: The most popular items on Amazon.com. Updated hourly.

Browse through the list of categories and find out what product is hot in each category.

For example, if you go to Home Improvement you will find that Water Pitcher Replacement Filter is on the top (as of August 29, 2009). This means that people are searching for (and buying) water filter.

Now I would to go https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Type in you keyword. For now I will just enter water filters and I will get a huge list of keywords in the water filter niche. Now you should try and find the best keyword combinations and by that I mean the keywords that have less competition and have a respectable amount of monthly searches.

Just Google each keyword (in " ") and you will find out how many sites are listed in the directory for that keyword. Keep searching until you find a keyword that has very few sites competing for that keyword (I mostly go for less than 1000) and that has a fair amount of searches every month (I go for 800+).

After you find your keyword you should write an article around that keyword (Use the keyword in the title and twice in the article). You can post the article to article directories or you can create a blogger blog on the topic and then write three or four articles and (if you can) you should get some links to it but it is not very much necessary because you don't have a lot of competition and your blogs and articles are optimized for the keyword and you don't have any sites competing madly for the first spot but it is always recommended to have links because they can get you ranked for keywords you didn't even monetize your site for.

By the way you can also use Google Trends , http://pulse.ebay.com and other sites to get ideas for a niche and to find hot niches. I will make a list of all of the places I use for research and I will post it on this forum.

Hope it helps and if you have more question PM me.

    Hi,

I am new too, and I have found a thread in the CPA marketing section a big help. I can't link to it as I don't have enough posts yet, but it called PPC TO CPA Making Money Is About The Market Not The Offer - Example Case Study

If you read the thread, one recent post from Firefly does ask Dave how he chooses a market, I think the answer will help you, it certainly helped me.
