Who owns Xsitepro now?

I understood Paul Smithson was selling or shutting it down but it still appears to be in business two years later.

Can anybody fill me in?

    It may be entirely possible that this was just a marketing ploy to ramp up sales.

    I guess someone may have bought rights to continue to sell version 2. My XSP software still works but is no longer supported nor updated.

    One of the last things Smithson posted about shutting down (that's still online, that is) was in 2014:

    After being the Managing Director/CEO of Intellimon, the publishers of XSitePro, XHeader, XHeaderPro, XCommentPro, and dozens of online courses I decided it was time to slow things down for a while. In between enjoying a green tea over-looking the Med and afternoon tea in the Sierra Cortina mountains I'm busy figuring out what to do with the rest of my life. Making business decisions was easy in comparison to figuring out that conundrum. I remember adults asking me what I wanted to do when I grew up and here I am at 50+ still not having decided yet. But hey, there's still time.
    Could be someone bought right to sell or whatever but if so they didn't contact the email priority list of XSP users.

    XSP was the best purchase I made online - made a lot of money building sites with it and selling the software. I was very sorry to learn version 3 was not going to be developed.

      Make that 3 TOO
      I still have a site running that was built with XSP...

      Anyway it's dead and as far as i know has not been sold on to a third party. In the end there were many frustrated users because Paul was not being clear about the state of the platform he strung people along for 2 years before finally closing the Forum and disabeling the BUY button..

      The support was non existent for 2 years before that happened, the only support available were other users on the XSP forum...

      As from July 23rd 2014, XSitePro will no longer be on sale.

      The future of the forum has not yet been decided.

    I was also a fan of the software since I started using it about 10 years ago. I built dozens of sites using the XSitePro platform.

    When the proposed sale was first announced, I think there was generally a lot of goodwill towards Paul Smithson, largely because of his reported illness. But the way in which the closing down was handled lost most, if not all, of that. Shame.

    I still have shortcuts on my desktop. XSP just does not open and goes to a dialogue box saying Windows is looking for a solution. XHeader Pro opens and still seems to be able to be used, but when I go to the Image File that came with it there is nothing in the files (?? just disappeared). They must have been just links to files on a server administered by XSP I am guessing. I can still load images from my own files so it is still useful to do image artwork for headers, etc.

      Xsite Pro needed an entire rewrite of the code to upgrade to HTML5/CSS3 and responsive pages. And let's not forget that WordPress became the defacto website building tool while Xsite fell behind in updates. I'm not surprised it was abandoned.

      It was a great tool at the time. I'm very grateful for it's presence during those early years.

        Yup, it was a great program at the time but Wordpress killed it.

        I dont think so - I think it could have been made fully responsive simply with a CSS template to match the xsitepro tags

        Not a recode of the whole application at all

        Maybe he wanted too much to sell it? Maybe he didn't really want to sell?

        Either way he should have sold & has let us all down in that respect

    My evolution in this business.... MS FrontPage --> XSP --> WordPress.

    I had a great run with Xsite Pro, but WordPress left it in the dust for me, years ago. I switched all my sites from XSP to WordPress years ago.

    So although, nostalgic, I'm not one bit surprised that XSP is history. I'm surprised it lasted that long since they that hadn't updated in years before shutting down.

    This is part of an email I received from Paul a few days ago:

    "Hi Ray,
    After two years rest and recuperation I'm back!
    When I closed XSitePro, and other stuff, back in 2014 I honestly thought I'd never work again. It was a VERY tough decision, but if I wanted to regain my health it had to be done. I'm still not perfect, but I'm definitely on the road to recovery.
    At 53 I felt I was too young to retire, but I didn't want to dive back into the high-octane world of software development. I figured I needed to focus on an aspect of business that I've always been passionate about, and I'm looking forward to telling you more about that later..."

    Someone in this thread said "it was still in business" but that's not true. Paul Smithson bailed out because he got cancer. The site is still up but you can't buy anything Buy XSitePro Website Design Software The forum XSitePro Website Design Software - Messageboard is long gone too.
