New to Internet Marketing. How Do I Start Marketing My Membership Site?

Hello Warriors,

I've visited this community many times in the past, but just recently have decided to get going with actually marketing a one of my products. I have a membership site that offers an extensive library of Wordpress video tutorials. I'm a novice. Where do I start?

Thanks for your help.

Here are some things you can do right now to get started.

    Promote it via social media....

Promote it to your facebook friends
    Promote it in facebook groups
Promote it to your twitter followers
    etc...

For paid promotion you can buy...

    Solo ads
    Pay Per Click Ads
    Banner Ads

Decide on a platform for your membership site.

There are lots of choices depending upon the features you desire. The WF has lots of threads on the best ways to run a subscription web site so make good use of the search function. I use Membergate.

Before you begin promoting, I think it would be important to have your site and some content (tutorials) ready to go. You've got to have a place to send prospects that are interested.

Here's the least complicated way to do it.

You can offer a simple report to get people on your list. Once their on your list, have a daily content e-mails that educate your prospects and let them know about your offer. Include a link to the order page where you offer a $1 trial to your membership site.

No real sales page needed, nothing fancy. Super stripped down version to immediate continuity income. If you want to see someone deploying this at the moment, check out what Kim Roach is doing with her Marketing Lab. There's no salesletter, nothing... just a buy link.

    1. Get traffic to your membership site (social media, PPC, etc.)

    2. Direct your traffic to a landing page and use email marketing to capture their email addresses

    3. Over time, market your premium membership to them, entice them to join with free bonuses and coupons, etc.

Yes, but there's much more to do BEFORE even considering the question and that "much more" no one's talked about it yet and even the OP is ignoring it. If the "much more" is not considered and put in place first you can send all the traffic you want but the efforts and cash spent for that traffic will remain useless and eventually drain you down.

    Great question,

The first thing I would do is identify exactly who your target market is.
Find out who are the folks that are likely to purchase a wordpress video tutorial course.

2nd as stated above I would find forums and blogs where folks normally hang out on, and advertise there. Mind you these are the same people we mentioned who are more than likely to buy your course..

Simple formula here, find out who the congregation is (specifically) and find out where they are congregating at.

Have you tried looking around for other services similar to yours? Maybe they have a facebook page, comment section or anything similar.

You can try promoting your product there for free (this could risk a ban) or buy ads from the platform targetting those pages.

Hi Lakeita Congrats on your new membership!

What exactly is different about your membership and everything else on Youtube?

When you answer that question that is the message you want to reach your target audience.

You could create a Newbie infoproduct and inside recommend your new membership with a nice incentive to join for those readers.

There will be so many other variables involved...the layout of your website, the ease of use, the delivery format etc so try to get user feedback every step of the way.

This may be helpful. Create a Facebook page for your site. Then do a nice post with a picture that has a lot of red in it to get peoples attention. Then boost the post, but only spend about $1 a day to boost the post or do a post page engagement ad on Facebook to promote a post. I have found that is the sweet spot, at least for local targeting, to get the most for your money. I have tried scaling and also duplicating post page engagement ads on a post and the cost goes way up. Like was said in another post, you need to know who your customer is so you can target them using the interest field when building the ad.

    Hi,

    1. Choose a Great Platform for Membership Site
    2. Load your content
    3. Create discussion forum for member engagements
    4. Launch a Facebook Page
    5. Find Custom Audience that fits your product and share a fan page post using Paid ads
    6. Buy Ads on google and use Tracking Pixel to keep following your visitors AKA remarketing
    7. Use email marketing and solo ads to get maximum relevant traffic to your website

It's interesting to notice that the OP post a question and then does not f... care from Adam to any of the suggested answer as the OP does not come back to "discuss" the problem s/he exposes!

It's also interesting to notice that, even though the OP doesn't care about the responses s/he's got, and that is from May 2016, some folks go keep on still posting their "genius advice" on how it should be done.

Maybe the reason why the OP doesn't care is because all the advice are crap? None of them ask the RIGHT QUESTION that should have come BEFORE giving any kind of advice!

One even went up to suggest what membership software to use! While the OP never asked for that, in the contrary the OP HAS/OWN a membership site already as s/he mentioned so what's the use for that "advice" to use a specific software?

There's quite some very weird things going on the WF lately.

Where's the good'ol WF please stand up... lol

Well first its know who your prospects and what their demographics are. Then its finding out where they are online. A big one that sticks out is the search engines. People are going to the search engines and typing exactly what you have to offer and you are putting your product/service right in front of them at the exact moment. Doesn't get any more targeted than that!!! So your can take the SLOW rate and do it organically or you can do PPC. Don't let people fool you with PPC trying to tell you the cost are high. These are people who are paying retail and do not know how to set up campaigns properly.

Using something like this forum works pretty well. You add a signature file!

Just pick two strategies and work on them and get good at them. Some will say only 1 but I have learned never to keep all your eggs in one basket so start the habit now of handling at least two or even three traffic sources. Take your time, don't get a headache but most importantly have fun...

This is not serious online business advice, this is a "meetoo" copy/paste post for whatever reason (exposing a sig file?) I strongly doubt you have ever been successful yourself with this business model. So why proposing it then?

But then again, even if the advice was kind of "plausible" it would still be useless as one has yet to address the very first issue that should be addressed BEFORE thinking of sending traffic. Moreover, before even thinking of sending traffic. hehe..

We run many websites with membership in place,

We setup many types of membership websites, some are free to join, for list building, and then are setup to offer products in the members area.
There are many ways to setup a lead capture list building membership, this is one way to get the list going.
Also this is for traffic, Try YouTube marketing, FB marketing, and Google + and strong SEO,

We also have been building websites for over 20 years,
So you just come off and say, we are here for (exposing a sig file?) is wrong, and to say all the other nonsense, you think you know about.

    Hello there,

And thanks for the great feedback and advice! I've been trying quite a few methods suggested here, but nothing seems to be getting the attention I thought I would get. So... I'm considering a few new things suggested here:

    1. Give the membership away for free or $1 and upsell something else once they're in. I'm learning now that may be called a tripwire.

    2. Maybe there isn't a unique value proposition when compared to videos posted for free on youtube. Maybe I should reconsider the value of the product.

    Thanks for your feedback

    Who is your target audience?
I'm guessing people who want to learn Wordpress but more specifically, who?

I'd work on trying to form a strong social media presence pointing to your website

Go to your warm market first. That would be friends and family,Facebook followers,Twitter followers, people that have liked your fan page. Market to them first...gather up a few testimonials then start to market your membership site via paid advertising.
