What instruction should I give my VA for Kindle niche research?

I've hired a VA to find hot Kindle niches with low competition for me. What instructions should I give my VA to maximize her chances of success? In particular, I'm interested in parameters, as well as avoiding false positives.

Any helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Have you written any kindle books yourself? Have you done any research yourself?

Or, have you bought one of the many Kindle programs for sale here and elsewhere and are now winging it?

You need to have a basic Idea on how to do the research yourself then just explain your steps to your VA

Wouldn't that depend on your definition of low?

Ask your VA to pay careful attention to WHEN a niche book was published

Many publishers use a 6 month window

If trying to determine if a niche is 'hot', checking the top 10 to 20 self-published books' publication date is crucial

If a book is too recent, it may be ranking well due to recent promotions

You might be getting a distorted view of niche popularity
