Ghostwriting and Copywriting on Warrior for Hire Board

I have a few questions before I do this.

*I have experience with lots of freelance writing: ghostwriting novels and screenplays, Amazon descriptions, product descriptions for listings on websites, and articles. Would it be best if I posted one ad for Articles, and then did everything else under Content? (I think I know the answer to that, but I wanted to get opinions of experienced people.)

*Let's say I get hired for an article where I need to do some research to brush up on the topic. How do I bill for the research? Would I just estimate how long it might take and roll that into the overall job cost? Would I split that out and bill for research on an hourly basis? If so, then I have to be honest and say I don't understand how one would bill for an hourly rate. I mean, how do you PROVE you spent 3 hours on something? Are we going by the honor system here?

Is that more than just a couple questions? Okay, you got me there, but I want to be sure I understand as much as possible before I try posting anything.

You're overthinking it. Set a rate that you believe will fairly compensate you for your time, including research. For example, I won't write anything for less than $50 per 500 words. That includes basic research. Something more complex will cost more. Most content you write will not be research heavy and you could probably knock an entire article out in an hour or less.

Also, don't charge by the hour. Clients will always question why it took you x number of hours to write a "simple article." Charge by the project istead. That way everyone knows exactly what they're getting and for what price. As you gain experience you'll start to get a better idea of what your writing and time is worth.

That is probably a good rate for novels too. As for screenplays, since they have fewer words than novels, I charge by the page for short films while doing a flat fee for feature lengths.
