If you're at a crossroads with your website traffic and want to know how you can generate more qualified traffic, especially in a way that's cost effective for your business,
here are seven easy, cost effective changes you can make to your website that can help increase the type of traffic you are after.

1. Post Quality not Quantity

This is probably not the silver bullet you are after but it will help with your effectiveness and your efficiency. If you post content that is quality it will help with engagement and drive the right type of customer to your site.

A quality blog 2-3 times a week is a far more effective than 3 sloppy posts per day. The same applies with images and video content. If it is well thought out, personable and relatable it will enhance that qualified traffic.

Unfortunately too much content that lacks relevance can look a lot like spam and can turn away prospective traffic. In a cutthroat environment where you really only have one chance at making a good impression, you don't want to make this mistake.

2. Be selective with your imaging

You just have to look at your Facebook feed now to see how effective imaging and digital content can enhance click-through rates.

A word of caution for selecting your imaging: using real, relatable imaging is key. If you want to attract qualified traffic you have to use imaging that reflects your content and connects you to your customers. It is nearly impossible now to find that connection with stock photos.

Take that extra little bit of time to upload and use your own quality photos. This helps break down trust barriers and impersonal nature that is often associated with Internet marketing and online business.

3. Make sure you have visible sharing options for your content

The use of clearly visible social media plugins on the same page as your content can go a long way towards driving qualified traffic.

When viewers see social media plugins in close proximity to your content it allows them to share it immediately via different social media channels. This is extremely advantageous as it is likely to draw in likeminded people to consume your content.

Social media plugins are a way to get your current content viewers to do the hard work for you. A few quick tips for social media plugins:

- Make sure they are large enough and easily visible.
- Place them as close to the content headline as possible.
- Another plugin at the bottom of the article is recommended.
- Ensure the social media plugins are directly relatable to the content posted

4. Are you tracking your content analytics?

Sharing content without having analytic tools in place is like having a ship without a rudder. There are so many social tracking tools in place that can help you track your data and ensure you are posting your content at the optimum time to gain qualified traffic.

5. Make sure the content you are creating truly reflects your business

This is a key point but is often overlooked in driving qualified traffic to your site. You have to ensure that the content you are creating is going to draw in your target audience.

Once you have identified your niche, then it is imperative to research the type of content they consume.

For example, it is easily noticeable the rapid rise of video content for millennials. Creating video posts on your social media platforms has become an absolute must for businesses targeting this audience.

6. Utilize your current customers and those already consuming your content

They say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

When you already have customers on board use them to be your voice. Do not be afraid to simply ask them to share your content to their network. By utilizing your current customers you can drive qualified traffic organically.

Word of mouth is a powerful tool in online marketing and if you can harness the persuasion of those already converted to draw more followers in you will drive qualified traffic to your website.

Give it a go, ask your customers to help you share your content. Chances are they know more people and connect more easily with people that fit in your target audience.

7. Timing is everything

This flows on from understanding your target audience. Once you know what your niche are consuming you can piggyback your content on timely current events and dates.

For example, a lot of content creators use important dates in the calendar to promote their content. Does your target audience like Valentine's Day? Great! From two weeks out you can start producing content that ties in your website with this date.

Using current events and dates in the calendar can help you align your content and keep up to date with your audience easily. If you keep your finger on the pulse with what is happening you can drive the right traffic to your website.

    Good points

I'd add: build friendships with influential folks from your niche. When they promote you, and endorse you, and allow you to guest post on their blog, you will attract targeted, qualified traffic and more traffic, at that.

Comment on authority blogs. Promote them big dawgs LOL. Draw in quality traffic by befriending top bloggers and IMers in your niche.

These are very good tips mate.

Quality over quantity, I agree 100% with you, that's one of the most important factors at least for me, you can have a lot of content but if it's crap, what's the point?

It's better to have less content but with insane quality, your reputation is everything these days.

Having visible sharing options is a MUST too, a lot of people want to share your content but if they find it hard, they will not do it, instead if you have a floating bar for example where they can share at any time with a single click, that's perfect.

    WOW!

One of the best traffic posts ever written. Many times you may have e-books that are 80 pages long and the traffic methods are either outdated or worse... DO NOT WORK AT ALL.

This post will last for the life of internet marketing and is ageless.

Great post, stick to the fundamentals and keep it simple. Good stuff.

As stated in some of the replies above, a lot of content out there is 80% padding or worse but posts like this are of real benefit to rookies and old hands alike
