I'm In Dire Straights Here And Need Help Badly

I have been trying to earn money online for 1 year. I have spent close to $10,000.00 on various products, hosting, mail services, books, processes, and other stuff. I just want a couple of $$ a month coming in. I have had scam artists tell me to follow these steps and you'll be getting $50-$100 an hour. I ignore them. I can't find anything legitimate. Yes Fiverr, work work work. Yes hours of writing for $10. I get that. I just want to build, automate, activate, start, and see a $1 sale that came in. Then keep working and get $2. So on and so forth. I have grinded and blown my money on people who I thought were kind and gave a care about truly helping me.

Now I have lost my job. Yep, negative income every month. I am desperate, yet have my wits about me. After one year you think I would have seen at least a 1$ commission. Not a red cent. I posted something like this on another forum and I found there are three types of people - 1. The ones who don't care and can't be bothered / 2. The ones that think "SUCKER! I can sell him something." / 3. The ones that just want to be kind enough to show sympathy, refer me to places to make nickels and pennies, and don't truly help me get something that generates income that I can build off of.

So, I'm trying Warrior Forum to see if there are any kind caring moral people who could give me step by step instructions that will boost my confidence and actually bring me success. Just a 1$! That's it! Then I won't feel like the $10,000 resulted in a dead end, but possibly a precursor to success online.

Thanks.

    Yikes.

But nexxonyxx, I have a serious question you need to ponder...

Did you spend more than just a few months on any one business model?

After all, you said you've tried various processes, and clearly spent far too much to have nothing to show for it.

I suspect the problem is that you've tried too many things, instead of focusing on ONE thing.

    Are you sure about this?

What exactly did you learn about that's not legitimate?

We need to know more about what you did to be able to give some advises. I would advise to spend less (10 grands without any result is not effective way) and focus on one simple thing.

The questions asked by Daniel in response to your question is really good and even I would have asked them at first.

I am also getting a sense here that you didn't stick to one model or another and that's why seeing all this failure.

For now, in your situation... I would only advice to look for giving your services in any manner which you may have learned in the last one year and give yourself some time to focus on ONE and only ONE system which you already know work e.g. List building and affiliate marketing.

Appreciate the replies. I have been building mailing lists and following the system of email marketing for 12 months. I have been unsuccessful for 10 months doing TeeSpring, etc etc etc. I don't stop doing anything. I just keep adding things and then adding $$ and adding my time. I started an hour or two a week. I got up to 30 hours a week at one point and nothing, nada, zilch.

Think about when yall first started. What did you do? What were the detailed steps you took to get to your first sale? Would it work today?

I'm fine with everyone trying to diagnose what I'm doing wrong, but I'd rather hear positive success stories that I could mimic or follow.

this is how i got started. i did things that i enjoyed for 80 hours a week making ZERO dollars. i started learning programing at 16, then when the www came out, i learned web design and then learned seo. i did work for people for free to master my epertises. i didn't mind working for nothing as i enjoyed what iu was doing and i was learning a skill that i knew could make me money in the long run. in the early 2000's i started charging or my work. i undercut everyone at first and was finishing a job twice as fast as most people in the industry. from there, i thought why am i doing all this work for other people so i decided to create different websites in different niches for my own self and started learning affiliate marketing. then i thought why send my traffic to other people where they can steal a list from me so i started learning product creation, list bulding, copy writing, and email marketing. i learned along the way while still maintaining my offline clients from years back.

looking back, it was A LOT of work but the secret was always doing something i enjoyed doing and making that my #1 priority. making an income was always my second priority or just a benefit of my #1 priority. working 80 hours a week making ZERO money may not be for everyone just starting out, but it worked for me and i was happy.

before online, i was buying jolly ranchers at the local 7-11 with my lunch money and reselling them at my jr high for .10. after school, i had a newspaper collection route i made and recyled every month. i would read the business section of the newspaper every day on my way to school and i would invest in a few stocks(through my dad who was a stock broker).

i was always business minded and creative. i never lied or cheated people. i worked hard doing the things i enjoyed and that was good enough for me. i am not a millionaire today(but i guess i could if i wanted to be). my inspiration was never money. it was always doing something i loved to do and helping people.

if i was a teenager today, what *I* would do for some quick easy cash is to research and buy something at the dollar store and resell it or buy something at walmart and resell it. doesn't take a genious to know what you can resell something for now a days. if i was an adult just starting out trying to make a buck online, i would do the same thing and resell on ebay.

nothing has changed in a hundred years in regards to marketing and sales. find a need and supply that need. ya better enjoy what you're doing though because if ya don't, most likely you wont be happy and fail. i look at marketers today and they have the wrong mind set in more ways than one.

get off this website to find some answers, be creative and find them yourself. if you can't, you're in the wrong business.

In all honesty, your first priority should be to get a job. Online marketing should be put on the back burner until you secure a consistent stream of income. Dreams of success online is not going to pay your bills.

If you are losing money online right now, and you don't have a job, shut it down. Cut your losses until you do secure employment.

I'm assuming of 1,2,3 "types of people"....you want #3? Is that the "help" you were offering here a year ago?

Here's what others haven't noticed yet:

This is the FIRST time you have asked for help since you joined the WF a year ago.

Last summer you were posting advice to people here - talking about "my students" and what you did that succeeded. In many threads you posted "PM me if I can help you" or "if you have more questions, PM me".

On FB, on this forum and elsewhere for all I know - you presented yourself as someone making money online....as someone helping others create 'multiple sources of income'.

You were faking it - you were doing the very thing you are complaining about here. But eventually you either live up to the rep you've created for yourself - or you hit a wall.

    Hello wall.

If you did indeed spend $10k in the past year - you have more than one product that WILL help you earn online. Go through what you purchased - toss out all the "money for doing nothing", "fast, easy money", "secrets", "guru tricks", etc.....identify 1-2 REAL processes/methods/ebooks/blueprints (whatever) where you can verify the person who PRODUCED that product actually makes money himself.

Then make yourself a plan of action and get to work. It's sad to be in such a fix but it's not someone else's fault.

Take a deep breath - start over - and do it better this time. Take a methodical approach to working online - don't make claims you can't live up to - and ask for help here when you need it.

I'm fine with everyone trying to diagnose what I'm doing wrong, but I'd rather hear positive success stories that I could mimic or follow.
Could that be part of the problem in the past year? What if the success stories you were reading or listening to - were no more true than the ones you were spinning?

If you are in a negative cash flow situation - I agree with Mike - get a job. Get any job that will pay the bills and try IM again when you aren't quite as desperate.

P.S. I'm not saying you can't do this "stuff" - I think you can. Just sayng you need to start from a position of honesty with yourself about what you have done and where to go from here. There is no reason you can't earn online but it's more than a "surface appearance" business.

Then I can assume that the MLM you use as a username isn't really working out for you?

Or are you one of those people you mentioned, looking for suckers to check out your mlm deal in some kind of twisted recruiting scam?

I am definitely looking for a job. That is full time.

The other stuff... Yep I follwed a bunch of bad advice, plans, people, and heartless money grubbers and did what they told me. I was fortunate enough to have someone contact me and tell me to drop this user/business/ID name due to the negative face it could produce. Bad juju. This is a fresh start.. sort of. I get it.

I'll go back through everything, pick something, and hope it's the right thing. For 2 months I have been hitting forums, emailing marketers, and other communication. It must be some hidden "code of conduct" to not share success steps. Everyone I have talked to tries to tell me what I did wrong, guess how I screwed up, diagnose my problem, or advise me to go in different directions. Nobody gives their own autobiographical account of their first step to their first commission.

I guess it makes sense. You can't sell it and give it away for free.

    Thanks

That is nonsense. There is tons of free actionable advice on this and other forums.

The secret to online success is not a big secret.

      1. Identify a problem.
      2. Offer a solution.
      3. Get the solution in front of people who have that problem.

The tricky part is how you go about #3, and that is the one that generally will make the difference between making money or wasting money.

Why would someone hand a complete stranger their money-making blueprint? If you bought into all those scammy and ridiculous "get rich quick" schemes, that is your own fault. You should know by now that all of that crap is complete garbage. And I wish WaFo would quit allowing people to try to sell that stuff here. It's snake oil and it's dishonest.

Stop sounding so self entitled like the world owes you something. If you need money, better get to flipping burgers instead of asking people to hand you the keys to their kingdom.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for people like you who think the world owes them something. You tried and you failed. Try harder next time instead of throwing a fit about "boo hoo hoo, people won't share their money making secrets with me."

Wow! Lot of salty old souls out here.

For some of the negative half empty bitter lemons posting on this thread: I'm not lazy, have always worked, will flip burgers if I have to, not asking for handouts, not self entitled, willing to work hard, not begging, don't want the keys to the kingdom, and not expecting something to appear out of nothing. I could very very easily have quit, licked my wounds, and never posted, but I'm back for more because I know I can make it work..... with the right help.

To the helpful people who are keeping these forums helpful, I thank you and please keep posting. I'm sure others are reading to embarrassed to say what I did out loud.

Nobody is being salty. They are telling you the cold, hard truth.

You have to work towards your goals. There is no such thing as an overnight success, easy money, or quick riches. You should know by now all those ebooks/offers/whatever that you've been wasting your time with are pure garbage. The only person getting rich from those is the person selling the product.

Sorry if I came off a bit harsh in my last post. Good luck in your future endeavors. Failing is how we learn. You dust yourself off and get back to the grind.

After a very long and messy thread, I can say this; Thank you to some. lol.

No really! The ones who gave constructive advice and ideas really did help me zero in on a couple of ideas. I went back to the drawing board. Grabbed some of the helpful comments and road mapped out what I want to build going forward. I spent about 9 hour screwing around with various things, went through a whole note pad, and have a pretty good rough draft. While doing all of that I was playing around on CB and posted an old affiliate link to FB for a friend of mine. He forwarded it on and evidently someone clicked on it.

            I GOT A $17.95 SALE!!!!!!

Nothing major, but shows things can happen.

So thank you for getting me back on track. For the crusty-cynical-"newbies suck"-"10 minutes of degradation is better than one minute of help"-A$$HOLE$, I was told Warrior Forum was the place to go for help, ideas, and confidence. There are a ton of troll forums out there with people begging for a textual flame war. So, why are you here?

So, what's your plan for a viable online business?

The truth is that most business fail both online and offline. I'd argue that due to the low barrier for entry for online businesses, more online businesses flop. I'd also argue that because most people aren't very heavily invested in their online business they jump from project to project without ever getting any traction.

This forum is known for its endless "take massive action" rah-rah posts, but only a few people tell you that having a solid plan before doing anything will go a long way to achieving not success.

You have obviously never studied any kind of persuasion sales tactics.

Maybe you get results. What's the attitude about though like you are the most successful human being to browse this forum.

Naturally as human beings we are drawn to certain people, science behind influence presents that establishing yourself as a alpha (leader) will make people side with you.

Of course, you could be trying on a persona that quite frankly doesn't fit or you could just be someone who likes to think having slightly more knowledge than someone gives you permission to speak to people how you like but it doesn't.

You no longer look like an alpha figure so step down from the pedestal that you think you belong ever so much on when really you have nothing to say on this forum but a heap of dribble.

That means s*** for those of you not in the UK.

Yes, you got a response out of me. Maybe that's what you intend to do but the response you are getting is not the response that you want to get.

I'm all for arguing/debating but you generally aren't even here to talk marketing, you just post your posts with your sassy teenage girl attitude promoting that signature link of yours which quite frankly will remain like a locked door for me...

I'll never know whats on the other side.

    $10,000??

That's just so much spent... you sure are stucking in the buying products mode, or people just keep asking you to buy different system all the time...

You need to focus on 1 system if you're going to invest in 1 ONLY... this time if it doesn't work...

    Continue life with j o b...

I heard you lost your job as well... but it isn't too late to find another job, continue on studying the online community and while you having job again,so you can support your survival life with the money you earned from the job.

But if you're going to investing with money again, definitely definitely focus on 1 system...
And really spend 10,000 hours to it... and never spend your capital again...

-This is the point when you give up... but noone should give up.
-And an online mindset is very important, how about shifting the mindset from rush into becoming a millionaire tmr, instead... focus on providing customers a great service.

This is likely a standout amongst the most profitable posts I've composed. I recommend you read it.
I wrote this for my one on one coaching students to help them see the big picture of what they're creating and how to reach their goals.
I thought it would be valuable for all of you to follow so I decided to let you read it.
I often see people making the mistakes of looking for the next loophole and buying the next course that a marketer sells them on a new angle.
I've been there and I've fallen for those tricks as well. The key to your success is your ability to focus on the right things and use your time wisely.
I spent around an hour writing this and I'm pressed for time to take my little ones out for a walk so I didn't have time to edit for mistakes. Here's the rough draft. Let me know if this is helpful to you.

Amateurs focus on money, Professionals focus on â€Å"PROGRESSâ€Â.

In order to make sure we constantly are growing and make this a profitable year I want to share with you the system I follow.

When I focused on making money I never made much money. I would work hard in shorts bursts and when I didn’t see the results I wanted, I gave up or started a new business thinking that was the answer to my problem.

The real problem was â€Å"Myself†and how I thought about business.

Our focus to guarantee our success is to measure our small wins, not the big goal.

Most people set a huge goal and that is what they measure their success against.

Example: I want to make $20,000 a month.

They’re overly excited, super pumped and ready to take on the world.

30 days later they’re no longer motivated, they feel like they’re wasting their time and they begin to wonder why nothing is happening.

At this point they start looking at other successful people, comparing themselves to others and they become bitter and jealous of their results.

I had one coaching student in the past who was actually angry at me because he watched one of my other coaching students doing well.

What he didn’t look at is the amount of work, dedication and time this person put into their business and he was starting from scratch.

Building a successful business take time, commitment and consistent action.

â€Å"NEVER, EVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE COMPARE YOUR RESULTS TO SOMEONE ELSEâ€Â.

This is a horrible habit to get into.

Most if not all people get into this habit of â€Å"comparitis†where they spend their time looking at other successful people and then self-sabotage themselves.

    They say things like:

    - It’s easy for them because they’re smart.
    - They got success because they had more resources.
    - They had money to start so it was easier for them.
    - I could succeed if only â€Å"insert excuseâ€Â.

Never make an excuse as to why someone else is successful.

People often tell me â€Å"Anisa, I can’t do what you doâ€Â, but really yes they can.

What people are really saying is â€Å"I choose not to do what it takes†to succeed.

There is a huge difference between want to and choose to.

Most people want success and they like the idea of success, but they choose not to do what it takes to get the result.

    I had to:

    - Learn how to setup websites.
    - Learn how to setup squeeze pages and web pages.
    - Learn how to write so people resonated with my message.
    - Get over the fear of doing video
    - Learn how to speak and emphasize my points so it speaks to my market.
    - Learn to be consistent in what I do.
    - Learn how to drive traffic.
    - Work on my mindset daily so I don’t quit when things get hard.

Right now I’m going to share with you the secret to success and give you the permission to succeed in whatever goal you set.

The secret is that life is freak’n tough and you will face many obstacles in business, your personal life and things will hit you that you never could have planned for.

Most people are weak and you need to be mentally tough to succeed.

Don’t try to avoid problems in your life…...welcome them with open arms.

When you accept that this will be hard, you’ve gained your power and now you can set out to accomplish your goals. When problems strike, you will be prepared to set out to find the solution instead of giving up like most people often do.

Now I just told you this for a reason before giving you the actual frame work I follow.

The reason is that it’s going to be tough, you will be tested often and if business was easy…..everyone would be a massive success.

The good news is if you just keep following through, you have almost zero competition.

So let’s move on to the frame work.

Amateurs focus on money in this business. Money is important, it allows us to live a great life and it makes doing business rewarding, but it shouldn’t be your measure for success or you will quit.

We need to focus on short term goals we can achieve to stimulate your brain to want to do more work and achieve more goals.

My ultimate goal is $100,000 a month, but if I make that my #1 goal I will never achieve it.

To reach my goals I set small goals I can measure to ensure I’m moving one step closer to my bigger goals.

Before I set my goals I can measure I must first get clear with what I want to accomplish and why I’m doing it.

    Your focus should be:

Building a community- You can’t sell anything without a community.

One huge mistake I see people doing online is only focusing on making money. They don’t care about the people they’re marketing to and they’re only focused on themselves.

This is why they don’t make money and if they do make money, they’re constantly grinding to keep the money to coming in.

They have to constantly generate fresh leads because they only view people as â€Å"how much money can I extract from themâ€Â.

People aren’t stupid and if you treat them this way you will constantly be grinding to make your next dollar and you will feel your business is never stable.

If you follow my frame work you will create raving fans and repeat buyers.

Your #1 focus should be on building a community of people who know, like and trust you. Once you have that in place the selling becomes easy.

So do both of us a favor and take your mind off money and switch your thinking to focusing on building a tribe of people you can help.

We need to focus on becoming valuable to your audience regardless what niche you’re in. When you become a damn good problem solver you will be in demand and people will then see the value in buying your products.

Building your assets- Think of your business like real estate.

As I mentioned â€Å"amateurs focus on money†and they’re looking for short term wins and quick cash injections.

We want to think of our business like real estate.

We invest in assets like our list, blog, social media channels, FB groups, etc.

In real estate the big earners invest in properties that bring them money every single month.

We don’t need to spend even a fraction of what real estate costs and we can make a big return, but we must first lay the foundation and put in the work.

Once we have the list and the community we can then continue to make profit month after month.

So in order to accomplish this we need to set realistic goals that show we are improving and constantly making progress towards our big objective.

Depending on where you’re in your career will make the difference of what goals you measure.

Your focus is to constantly get better.

If you’re brand new or have very little experience you won’t be measuring how much money you made this month.

You will be measuring small goals like below.

    Things you will measure:

    - I learned a new skill.
    - I setup my first blog.
    - I created my first landing page.
    - I learned how to do a screenshare video.
    - I learned how to setup my email autoresponder.
    - I learned how to optimize a blog post.
    - I learned how to setup a membership site.
    - I learned how to create a powerpoint presentation.
    - I overcame my fear of doing video and shot my first video.

Now if you’re a little experience you will measure things slightly different.

    Things you will measure:

    - I’ve got my first email subscriber.
    - I’ve made my first sale.
    - I’ve blogged consistently 2 times a week the whole month.
    - I’ve setup and ran my first webinar.
    - I’ve created my first sales funnel.
    - I’ve setup my first paid ad.
    - I’ve learned how to create my own information product.

These are all slightly more advanced skills and bigger goals to achieve after you have the basics of online business down.

Now if you’re intermediate your goals may be bigger.

    Things you will measure:

    - I made 10 sales this month.
    - I’ve ran 4 webinars this month.
    - I’ve created my second information product.
    - I’ve generated 100 leads from FB ads this week.
    - I’ve setup an A/B split test on my landing page.

These goals would all be farther down the line after you’ve got a little experience.

Now I want to talk about how you actually measure the goals.

    Focus on your Focus

The key to achieving your goals isn’t to be a jack of all trades.

    It’s to master your time.

Time is your most valuable asset.

Most people don’t succeed because they’re multi-taskers. Let me go on record by saying â€Å"multitasking is for the brokeâ€Â.

You need to focus on one thing at a time.

    The average person’s day:

    - Wake up check social media and email.
    - Spend more time on social media.
    - Watch Youtube.
    - Text friends.
    - Work
    - Check email and more social media.
    - Read blogs.
    - Study courses.
    - Watch Tv

The sad part of all of this is that most of us are doing several of these things all at once.

    Example:

Studying a course to learn a skill, but at the same time you’re surfing your FB feed looking for something interesting.

You’re not engaged, paying attention or retaining the information.

You need to set a specific time you will work and shut out all distractions in your life.

No cell phone, no social media, no watching Youtube videos and anything that distracts you…...CUT IT OUT!

Here was I do get things done and to measure the effectiveness of what I’m trying to achieve.

I never look at the big goal. The business I’m working towards right now scares the life out of me if I look at the big goal, but I chunk it down and focus on what I need to do daily.

Example: Let’s say you’re brand new and learning about business and you want to make $10k a month. It’s not going to happen in 60 days. You first need to learn a few basic skills before expecting to reach your big goal.

Things you would need to learn or figure out:

    - What product you will sell or promote.
    - How to setup a website.
    - How to setup a squeeze page/landing page.
    - How to setup your email autoresponder.
    - How to create a video.
    - How to drive traffic.

These are some of the basic skills you absolutely have to learn before you can ever achieve the $10,000 a month because there is no magic secret to skip you ahead of the line regardless what people may try to sell you.

So you need to ignore the big goal and focus all your energy on learning one thing at a time, setting a deadline of when you will complete each task and celebrating your success when you achieve that goal.

This is how you move forward in your business, stay motivated to do more and continue to grow as a person.

As a human being you’re hard wired for success and achievement and when we aren’t moving forward we get depressed, experience anxiety and we get down on ourselves.

So let’s map out our plan and i’m going to be very generous on the time frame. It could be done much quicker.

Step 1- What will I promote to make money online.

Timeline = 2 days if you’re brand new.

This time is spent 100% focused on deciding what niche you will focus on.

    You would figure out:

    - Who are the authorities in the niche.
    - What products do they promote.
    - What blogs are people reading.
    - Where is your target audience.

All of this would tell you if the business is viable and what products you could promote or create to sell yourself. This doesn’t take weeks. It could be done in one day.

    Step 2- Setup your blog

    Timeline = 1 week

You need a home base to create your content and to be able to deliver value and build the relationship with your audience.

So you could either A.) Learn to do it yourself. B.) Outsource it.

If you do it yourself you would either buy a course or go to Youtube.

Learn how to do it and set it up. Don’t waste time making everything beautiful and perfect.

I’ve seen people in the past spend months doing this and there blog looks better than mine. Design helps, but it doesn’t make a difference if you haven’t learned how to create good content.

Step 3- Setup a squeeze page and free give away

    Timeline = 1 week

Now in order to build your email list you need to have something valuable to offer your audience.

This needs to be something helpful they want. It can be a PDF report, Checklist, video or webinar recording.

If you’re brand new it will be the easiest to create a PDF or Cheat sheet.

I gave you one week because you want to spend time researching what your competitors are giving away and then create something awesome.

I prefer creating 3 day value sequences in video that help people learn the basics of business or a specific skill.

    This is what’s called â€Å"results in advanceâ€Â.

Don’t just skimp on this and giveaway crap. If you wouldn’t like it then why would someone else?

    First impressions matter.

Once you have your freebie created you need to setup your squeeze page with whatever service you’re using.

You can learn how to do all of this on Youtube or in a course.

Step 4- Sync the squeeze page with your email autoresponder.

    Timeline = 2 days.

You can reference your email autoresponder tutorials or Youtube and learn how to setup and use your autoresponder.

    Step 5- Drive traffic

    Timeline = 1 week

You would pick a traffic source and either buy a course or study a free resources of how to do it.

Then focus on setting up and consistently building that traffic source.

Now you will notice on all of the steps I set a deadline. The deadline should be an actual date on the calendar.

Then you focus on nothing except completing that task.

Nothing else matters except getting that task done. You don’t buy anymore courses, read a blog post on a new traffic tactic or pay attention to anything except completing your task.

Once you’re done you celebrate your success and be proud of yourself that you made progress for completing the next step.

You don’t worry about the 100 steps you have to take in order to reach you big goal, they don’t matter right now.

You just focus on completing one step at a time, remain consistent and celebrate each win and be proud of yourself for accomplishing that goal.

When you do this it will move you towards your big goal much faster and you will be one of the successful people in business.

I apply this in all aspects of my life. I only focus on doing what I have to do for that day.

    Final tips:

Make a daily plan- Each night before bed write down the one thing you need to accomplish tomorrow.

Not 10 things, just the one thing.

Everyday I focus on one task at a time. If I have time for something else I can add that in later, but I focus on getting the one thing done that I know must be done.

Read or listen to motivation daily- I’m not huge on feel good motivation, but some people like that and if you do and it works for you great.

I personally recommend the book â€Å"straight line leadership†which you can find on Amazon. I read one chapter everyday.

This book is all about holding yourself accountable and getting things done.

Whatever you do I suggest to read daily to keep your mindset up and your belief system firing on all cylinders.

We are filled in a world of negativity and your belief system is what will make the difference if you stick with it or quit when things get tough. Trust me, it won’t be easy.

Focus on one thing and eliminate distractions- The key to your success will be your ability to focus on the one task you need to get done.

The second key to your success will be to shut out distractions so you can focus on the one thing.

No one can hold you accountable except you.

You have to truly want success for yourself and be willing to do the work. Nothing or no one can do it for you.

Do keyword research first to make sure that there are enough monthly searches for the keyword and that the competition of the keyword is not to difficult.

Build or buy a website coherent with the keyword

Do search engine optimization on the keyword for the website

I've been there honey. Have not invested $10k but did put in the blood sweat tears and depression with little to show for it.

My success story is pretty small... I wrote PLR articles for awhile ; sold those. Did tons of freelance writing . Then went into ghost writing . Then wrote a few books for WF. They did well and built me a nice list. Had a baby and took a long break in the hopes of using my writing to earn my own money. Sadly didn't work ... instead continued to ghost write. Built a massive account on fiverr with over 300 reviews... but hell the money sucked! I did make something but it was no worth my worth . Closed my business in February and started beauty school in April. Pretty dull right?

Like you ... I had a bunch of shit that went wrong. From depression to horrible clients to horrible affiliates who were just plan evil. So many times I wanted to quit ( you can even see the postings on here!) but I still tried. I stopped writing because I got burnt out. Only time will tell if I got back to it. For now I'm enjoying beauty school.

    Okay so some advice now!

I recommend you find a single passion and determine what you can do with it WITHOUT investing any money.

If.... lets go with an example that I love ... it's cats how can you turn that into money? Blogs are great but they are slow to build sadly. Facebook is a good idea.

The example another posted said is the best low cost idea. Buidling a list is a must have as well.

The same technique can be applied to any niche you can think of. The only one I don't recommend is weight loss and work from home. Simply because they are cut throat and can take longer to profit from. Going city based is a good idea but it will take more time and you'd have to find local vendors to market on your page. BUT old lady niches like quilting or crocheting ( which I do! ) is a good niche if you can find products to promote within the niche.

ANOTHER way is to start a turn offline business. Visit the offline section for ideas or even check those silly home business magazines. Things like food on the side walk , car washing , gardening and even home care aid are all great businesses to start that provide instant money. Be sure you provide great service and a great value.

The main thing I have to say ... is don't quit. Take a break and really look within your self and decide where you hope to be -- it can't just be money . it has to be something not based on a material. Relax , pick a single idea and work with it. Things work and don't work all the time. It's time to be frugal and get it done.

    Keep moving forward honey!

Ok, Glen. Fresh start it is. As for the ID, you can start by changing the tag line under your user name. Instead of "Glen from Nexxonyxx", how about trying your full name. Or just "Glen". I know changing user names here is harder than it used to be thanks to a bunch of scammers, so you might be stuck with that.

There's a difference between "sharing success steps" and holding your hand while you press the keys on the keyboard. And this passive income you dream about is possible, but it takes work to reach that point. Unfortunately for you, the work you put into the various schemes you tried didn't pan out. It's a hard lesson, but just about every successful person has learned to duck by getting their noses bloodied a few times.

My first online income wasn't a commission, per se. I ran a website that sold fishing videos - mostly VHS, with a few BetaMax thrown into the mix. It was an ecommerce play that worked out fairly well until my source decided to sell the videos direct for the same price he was charging me.

The success steps were simple. Find a product people were willing to pay for and that wasn't always easily available. Make it available. Put that availability in front of people who wanted the product enough to pay for it (and jump through hoops that ecommerce sites don't have these days).

The what steps are simple, and haven't really changed in generations. The how constantly changes, and is earned by trying stuff, failing, learning and trying again. That learning has a value, and the people who accumulate the value have the right to profit from it.

You had it right above. Pick through what you've accumulated, throw out the stuff that you know is junk, unethical, or that you know you just won't do. Take what's left and pick one plan. Follow it. When you run into snags, and you will, you can come back and ask specific questions and get specific answers. Keep at it, and soon you'll have something to be proud of.

Gun to the head, dire straights? No work. What to do:

    A) Stop focusing on chasing the money

    B) Figure out what your skills are:
    1) Natural Born Skills
    2) Learned/Job Skills
See how these skills can help anyone, be it a neighbor, a stranger, a small business, etc. and find that "fit", the one person/business that could use your skills

    C) Don't sell, consult with people, talk with them to lean more about THEM and THEIR business needs to be able to slowly ease into conversation of how you can help them with those needs

    D) Offer to help for free, as a trial initially (this has worked for me almost 99% of the time), many times this will lead into paying work (not Fiverr one-offs nor piece meal, but steadier larger gigs)

    E) LinkedIn is a great source of such people that you can start conversations with about THEIR needs not yours.

    F) Your LinkedIn Profile (and you should have at least one, and others based on other businesses/skills that you offer) should NOT read like a resume, but more like a list of solutions that you have to address other LinkedIn's needs (that they may pay you for very well).

Remember, LinkedIn is NOT Facebook, it is where serious bossiness is conducted (i.e. serious buyers of your skills). Your LinkedIn Profile should be as professional as the profiles you seek to connect with.

    G) Once you have all the above done/covered, start connecting with others on LinkedIn, especially trying to be part of/connecting with LinkedIn groups that match your skills/target buyers of your skills.

    H) This is an important one: Do not blatantly post ads/solicitations for your services to any group nor any individual on LinkedIn, rather try to freely contribute to LinkedIn individuals and groups via posts/chats about things/problems they are having and your input on that (again not outright coming out with first post/chat as "I am so and so and I have X years of experience with this and I can do this for you right now for $15"....too pushy as the first post/chat.

You want to ease into the conversation, offer solutions/ideas, then after a series of chats/posts and you see that the other party is interested in your solution or may seem to think that you can help, then, only then, pitch them (although I would not pitch them myself outright, I would rather offer to help try to solve their problem for free initially...human nature is such that if you do solve it or come up with something that helps, the other party will feel obligated to pay you something, or even better, hire you.).

    I) There no longer really is such a thing as a steady job (particularly as you get older), the whole idea of work is transforming into a freelance economy with everyone putting together several gigs to make it a year of work or to replace their past "job" income.

When it comes to most products you can promote online the problem is the only people getting rich are the product owners themselves. We've all been there, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that by investing in such products you'll be able to turn around and also become wealthy, or at least earn a few bucks each month. It doesn't work that way sadly. There are so many fancy banners and advertisements to draw your attention and that give the illusion that by paying to become part of certain programs you too can have a luxurious lifestyle with oodles of money, fancy cars, etc. Not to take away what you're going through as I know it's tough and stressful, but some people fall into such traps for years and years on end with no results. Now you find yourself in a position where you need to dig yourself out of a hole but you can do it, even if it means getting a part-time job for now or something until you can afford to spend more time with online marketing. If it makes you feel any better, just remember you're not the first person this has happened to it has happened to millions of other people too, but when you're on the bottom the only way to go is up. Chalk it up as a lesson learned and don't let it discourage you from moving forward.

I'm very sorry, you seem to have wasted a lot of money on products, you could of have made a lot of money INVESTING that money to grow your business, Instead of buying scammy useless products for scammers who only want to take your money.

If you want to build an Automated business that will bring you enough money to fire your boss, then you need to follow this tried and tested Step-by-step formula:

✓ Find a profitable niche that you are passionate about, or at least interested in
✓ If you can't find anything, then pick a niche in this evergreen markets: health, wealth, and relationships.
✓ Get a domain name and web hosting
✓ Install the world's best CMS - WordPress!
✓ Buy a premium wp theme, and Install some useful plugins
✓ Write some 5 blog posts, that have at least 1500+ words
✓ Buy an Email Service provider, or try Reachmail(they have a free plan for upto 5000 subs)
✓ Write a lead magnet report or eBook to giveaway to build your list fast
✓ Or just giveaway a PLR product
✓ Write some Autoresponder sequence of at least 7 Emails of 1 day interval
✓ Find some affiliate product in your niche from Clickbank, Amazon or CPA networks
✓ Plug it in your Autoresponder sequence and promote that product to your list
✓ Finally, Work on getting traffic and writing more blog posts
✓ Or, to grow your list fast, Try Solo Ads, or Facebook Ads

This seems like an easy thing to do, but it takes a lot of time to set everything, but It's worth it, It won't cost you more than $100 to set everything up... But the ROI is much better.

THIS is a great business model that has worked for years in almost every niche out there. And it will definitely work for you.

      City Cowboy,

No offense intended but from your other posts, it seems you aren't in a position to be giving this kind of advice since you are still trying to find your own way. If you were positive (from experience) that the following worked then you wouldn't have asked some of the things you have recently asked.

The OP is trying to escape his past of doing just what you are doing - giving advice that is questionable or copying and pasting other people's opinions.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just saying that if your system was truly good enough to
bring you enough money to fire your boss
you already would have done it, right?

Going to take a different track. Marketing isn't about products. It isn't about processes like building lists, subscribers, followers, or any of that crap. It isn't about a putting up a "build it and they will come" website, or building a commanding Twitter/Facebook presence. It isn't about finding the right affiliate product/company and driving traffic to an outlet promoting it. It isn't about keywords, SEO, SERPS. Those are tools, which may or may not be used by actual marketers, but they are not, in and of themselves marketing.

Marketers have one task: Influence a decision. Yes or no. Yes means sale. No, means no sale, or not right now. Here's the thing: to a true marketer a "no" is a positive thing. It's testable data. A no-sale is an opportunity to tweak the process. For that matter so is a "yes".

To a non-marketer "yes" is a sign of success and "no" is failure. The problem is that neither is independently true. Marketers know this. Non-marketers do not. You've lost $10k. To someone who knows the process of marketing, that $10k could be invaluable data. If you had gone the other direction, and lucked into 10k in profits that would be great. But if you aren't conducting test to improve the results you are leaving money on the table. If you haven't got a clue why you had success in the first place, you aren't actually marketing. Marketers are constantly testing and tweaking. Non-marketers are not.

This is the best advice I can give you. Do not spend another penny, or do a single hour of "marketing" (as you currently understand it) until you undertake the due diligence to learn what marketing actually is, and decide whether or not you love it: LOVE - IT.

Read books on marketing psychology. Anything from Seth Godin, Simon Sinek, and Malcom Gladwell are a good start. Read "The Psychology of Influence". By chapter two every commercial you watch hence forth will piss you off. Growth Hacker Marketing is a fantastic, simple read.

Watch every single video from these people https://www.youtube.com/user/mktgexperiments. Fantastic marketers, and their studies on how to interpret data are life changing to anyone interested in being a marketer.

Here's the bottom line. You were sold a false bill of goods by ACTUAL marketers, unscrupulous as some of them may have been. What you must recognize from here on out is that Internet marketers have no vested interest in teaching you what they know, because, at that point marketing psychology ceases to work on you - meaning no future purchases. To a marketer the most important sale is the next one (from the same client).

Don't follow a single shred of advice until you independently do the work necessary to determine whether or not you love the act of marketing. Not making money online. Not internet marketing. Marketing: the art of influencing decisions.

If after you research what marketing actually is, and decide you love it, then you have a basis upon which you can build a lot of success. Or, even better, maybe you decide it isn't for you. Then you can be free to pursue something for which you may be better equipped and have greater passion.

    Be blessed.

A really simple concept that not many people pursue is just to pick one very high quality product/service and personally ask the creator for the best suggestions they have on promoting it as an affiliate and MAKING THEM MONEY.

(Trust me they will not steer you wrong and will be very motivated to assist you in that pursuit)

In that process YOU will also make money.

Hey guys we have heard a lot, can any one post here a simple method that could give at least $10 or $20 a day fast ? which is that Nexxonyxx needs not to build a website and expect tons of traffic from night to day. It is being said the the WF is the best place for advice and I know there are hundreds of marketers here at the WF that have had great success to get rid of a 9-5 job, so let give this guy a real advise to make those quick bucks. If after that he is unable to make money. We all and he for sure will know that online business is something he will have to lat aside until he get the right mindset. He's telling us with his story that he needs a mentor, someone who guide him on the right direction only he really is not asking us for money or giving us his paypal account to make a donation. Let's hel this guy up. I'm brand new on IM to give him a quick advise for that, my methods are for medium to long term because I'm on mobile marketing and develop mobile websites and apps. Thanks a lot to all. And you Nexxonyxx please pay attention and add a pic to your profile if you can. Regards

Hi I do not know how long you sticked with one of the businesses you were involved with, The advice that I can give is that don't jump around on different biz ops until you see results in the one youre in,If its legit. Jumping to another biz op or method of making money in the hope of making better results in that new biz op doesn't work. Focus on one biz op and give it time. Best of luck.

Interesting thread. Chasing shiny objects certainly don't help you to make it. Apply the FOCUS method: follow one course until successful.

Also: change your mindset. I used to pay too much attention to the things that weren't working and when I changed that, certain things turned around for me.

You made $1? Celebrate that and analyse to see how it happen. You may find that you could rinse, repeat and scale that!

I do believe in reading to stay motivated and to keep your mind on the positive path, as well as meditation to envision where you really want to be.

How is it possible to spend $10,000 on various products and not have one that you can make work? The honest answer is that most of the programs probably work, but YOU have to make them work. There is no "do XYZ and you'll make $xxx per day." All businesses - online and offline - need an owner/manager that can make the decisions that make a business profitable. At the end the day, it's up to you to create, implement, and monitor/tweak the plan.

The other thing the OP is missing is listing his/her assets. What do you have to show for your $10,000? What services can you offer? What problem can you solve? Without knowing your assets, any advice is pretty much a blind guess.

Running a business is a continuous process, not a set it and forget it thing.

Yea you can offer services on classified sites and outsource through fiverr.

To be quick, I will give you a method that I did. Find an affiliate offer via jvzoo or
Any network that will give you instant commissions through paypal.

Use animoto to make a free 30 sec video, only show free images and
Have some words targeting their problems, then put your website in the
Video to offer the solution, save the video once your done as the keyword
    Of your target market.

Post it to Youtube via animoto which is still free, make sure you put your
Website address in the beginning of your Youtube description.

I made a sale within 2 hours when I did it. I know I kind of ran through
It but Im giving you an idea as to how to make money.

    Rinse and Repeat.

Keep finding products and creating videos and target BUYER keywords.

Have fun, and make some money man!

The best thing to do at this point is to find somebody who has achieved the success you want using a business model that you like or resonate with, and reverse-engineer what he has done. If possible hire him as a coach and focus solely on what he teaches and disregard any other business opportunities that may distract you.

Nice post - but I'm calling B.S - there is no way you have spent $10k and have not succeeded to make a penny... perhaps you are indeed being truthful and with that I feel your pain - however, I've been Forum Marketing long enough to know a phish for information when I see one.

The usual response most P.C marketers would give you is: 1) It's not your fault. 2) Try this or that method. (usually relating to a product or service they are selling or promoting)

    Here is the simple truth:

Business is business, online and offline - if you were to spent $10k you'd be much wiser to invest in a course at a business school of some sort - or at least seek the help of a professional business teacher.

Here is what I recommend you do:

    1) Go to your LIBRARY and loan out books on: 1) Business, 2)Online business, 3) MARKETING.

    2) Go to a provider of promotions or products - MAX BOUNTY OR CLICK BANK

    3) Select something from an area in which you feel comfortable, knowledgeable and insightful. (You might be a dab hand at Poker, so the gambling/poker market could be your target, or you may have rescued and trained dogs in the past, in which case dog training would be an ideal market.)

    STOP!

    It's as simple as that.

Until you have a solid business plan (that you developed on your own), don't let anyone sell you anything. Ever.

      You are right. However...

      They don't have a plan.

      They NEVER have a plan.

They don't know how to figure out a plan on their own.

      That's what they're buying.

And that's why they're constantly disappointed. Because the map is not the territory. The plan they bought needs to be customized and figured out for themselves by themselves, and they are simply not equipped or willing to do that.

First, you need to understand one thing:

YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU MAKING MONEY!

That's what everyone asks when they're first starting out.

BUT HOW DO I MAKE MONEY ONLINE????

    That's your question, right?

"How can I get up in this joint and make some moooonnnney!????"

So, I'm going to tell you that you're asking the wrong question.

First, there is no definitive way to "make money" on the Internet.

Just like there is no definitive way to make money on Main Street in your hometown, there is no single definitive way to make money on the Internet. The Internet is just a network of digital communication. Think of the Internet like a "digital highway." Then, compare it to the streets in your hometown. When you travel down the main street of your city, or cruise around the shopping mall do you think, "How can these city streets make me money?"

No. You think in terms of business.

You think about what you would like to do. You think about what interests you. You think about what you're good at and how you might make money at it.

Of course, we all want to be compensated well, and go on long vacations, and live the life of our dreams. We want time freedom to pursue our passions. Wow. Maybe we can even turn our PASSIONS into what we do for a living....

    Stay with me now.

If you want to live the life of your dreams, you have to work from the back to the front. As Stephen Covey (the author of "7 Habits of Highly Effective People") would say, "Begin with the end in mind."

The first thing you must ask yourself is:

"What can I do for people so well that they would be willing to pay me for it?"

Forget about making money. Why would anyone want to give you any money anyway?

When I was in real estate sales, my mentor told me to imagine everyone walking around with a sign hanging on their neck that read, "What can you do for me?" Your clients don't care about what you need. They don't care about you paying your mortgage, where you want to go on vacation, or putting your kids through college.

In order to make money, you need to solve a problem for someone. The more people who have the problem, the more people you can help, the bigger your pool of potential customers.

What problem are you prepared to solve for people?

How are you going to solve a problem for someone?

Figure out what that problem is, develop a system to automate the process of delivering that problem-solving information, and collect the money automatically, and you'll be golden.

    Pat

Really, you spent that much? Myself, I've spent well over a hundred thousand and I have yet to earn a penny from my marketing efforts. Yet, I know more than most marketers...why is that? Because, I never applied what they tried to teach me, long enough to show that it would work; if, I just stayed the course. The problem with most marketers is that they love to give and over-deliver. This is the worst type of marketer you can deal with; as they will crush you with tons of extras; overwhelming you in the process; causing you to NOT get into ACTION, due to too much info! Info buyer Beware...Too much knowledge can be a dangerous thing...It can totally kill your desire to move into action! Simple steps, do-able, actionable steps is what we need; not tons of data, and more shinny objects!

Hello :-) It sounds like you need to work on your mindset, as well as learning the processes of how to make money online. You should read the book Secrets of the millionaire mind, by T Harv Eker. You can borrow it for free at your local library. Tony Robbins aays that sucess is 60% mindset, and 40% what you know and do.

Step 1 - Get out a pad and pen
Step 2 - Write down everything that HASN'T worked for you (really think about this one)
Step 3 - Stop doing all of the things you wrote down
Step 4 - Hire a consultant/coach for direction and accountability
Step 5 - Get to work!

It's this simple but it's not this simple. There will be lots of hard work but you could save yourself a lot of time and money by getting a good mentor who knows:

      1) The business - IM
      2) The niche you are most fond of and want to pursue
      3) How to actually run a business

A coach/mentor that comes with all 3 of those things will show you how to start to make a living off of the internet.

    Hello my friend

I'm so sorry to hear that things haven't one the way you've planned. This can be a though business to crack when you don't have set structures in place and are thrown about in the tide of violence of never ending turmoil and change.
It may seem very hard at first but as many of the other warriors trying to help you here you must not go from one thing to other to quickly. You must stick to one business plan for at least 6 months to see if it works. The problem is with most people today is that they give up to easily trying to find the silver bullet. The truth is, many niches, programmes and tactics work.
I like to think of it like like a workout programme. There are thousands of workouts on the internet all from different gurus and experts, they are all variations of the same things. As long as they hit the fundamental lifts (Fundamentals of IM) and have enough sets and reps (The amount of time and effort put in) you will see success. If you do one without the other you won't.
You may have sound principles and direction but without allowing the right amount of time following this without falling into the pitfalls of noise that surrounds the internet. you will surely fail. So my answer to you is STICK TO ONE PLAN at least for 6 months.
This plan should consist of a goal.
    e.g
    1) I will be making $500 a month
    2) Facebook, youtube and e-mail will be my 3 platforms of lead generation and communication (Become an expert in a few, don't spread yourself to thin and try and do everything)...
    and so on.

Try and get everything sorted out before you think of watching the money roll in.
Setup a website, get a captivating squeeze page, emulate broadcast messages from the pro's, make awesome videos that are different and catchy, learn free and paid traffic, and read read read (not crappy articles but published books and get content). Become a learning machine.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours my good man.

I will recommend you these things

    1) Go and cut all your ties with internet marketing for next 30 days. (helps in rebooting your mind)

    2) Find a job

    3) Each one of us have lost some money before making cash from internet marketing. If you have lost money, just think about it as a costly lesson. Fact is you dont need cash to learn or earn money online.

    4) Start equipping yourself with some skill. Start learning copywriting, programming or any high valued skill. It will take some time. But, stick with it.

    5) Start writing gratitude list every morning. write all the things for which you are thankful to God. (Its a game changer)

6)Do one thing everyday for next 60 days. Anything, but it has to be everyday. Let's say you start writing gratitude list. Do it continuously for next 60 days. You have to develop discipline of doing same things everyday for longer period of time. Start with something small.

    7) Fill this sentence. "I am successful because .........." Whats your definition of success? It can be anything, but you have to define it. For example

I am successful because I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

Define what is the success for you . Start small again. You need to develop habbit of success first. So, start with a small target. However, it should be something which is really an awesome thing for you. So, ask yourself before writing success statement.

Am I genuinely interested in this? If you have crystal clear yes coming from your soul. Thats the first aim, you should go ahead with.

Do, all of these steps and you will come out of bad phase.

    Hello nexxonyxx'

No proper business plan going into online or offline business can generally end in 'dire straights'. A good business plan will outline how much money you need to invest to break into a market BEFORE you can start making a PROFIT.

I think your immediate focus should be on stopping the bleeding finances, and getting some sort of financial support to start earning income.

Yes online jobs might mean long hours for low pay, but right now your greatest asset is time and you need to invest the time you have to make money. You can also explore both online and offline jobs.

If I had the 10k dollars you had I would have earned interest
by lending out of it. And that would be passive income too.

Firstly no one knows me here as I only keep reading the threads
and try to infer from their conversations. And maybe you should
take me seriously as I have got my own formula of generating a
passive income of 2k $ per month by understanding the meaning
between the lines in the Which I have seen many
products offered by people here in WSO tweaking their old
products and many have become obsolete, the only reason they
are able to sell these obsolete product as the
warriors are increasing and their is no end to it. You have had
the first hand experience of it.No body shares their blue print
or market idea as it would build them their own competition.

Dont give up , you need not go for a full time job you are
at the verge of cracking the formula. Just go through the Warrior
market place dont buy anything. With the experience you are having
you would understand their business model. Just replicate it focus
    on getting the first dollar.

I got some inspiration today by observing a product , which was in
my mind previously but the seller succeeded in cracking it am happy
to share it for you as I dont have time from my full time job and
the online business to tread into new waters.

1- Like everyone is telling you...get a job.

2- It seems like you have a strong desire to succeed. But it also seems like you haven't 'focused' long enough on one thing to succeed. You may be 'chasing shiny objects' and there is a very strong reason why. Today I actually made a video earlier on this exact issue.

Okay, I'm going to share something with you that actually works. I helped a lady who was an expert Italian cook. She wanted to go online but didn't have any marketing skills. I showed her how to set up a youtube channel covering her passion - Italian Cooking. She focused on her branding and wrote all her different recipes. Her daughter took videos of the dishes she cooked and added them to the YT channel. I taught her about using keywords on the title and description of each video. She then applied for YT adsense, asked all her friends to check out the videos and shared them everywhere.

A few weeks later, her earnings are growing as she's adding more videos. She has a passion in a niche that is searched by people who want to cook Italian food. She's solving a problem and rewarded accordingly.

    Just a thought.
