Back on Warrior Forum after 4 years and need some advice

Hey guys!

I joined Warrior Forum in 2012 in hopes of figuring out what to do with my life. I was a college dropout security guard making $10/hour and was basically lost. I dabbled with drop shipping, importing stuff from China to sell on Ebay, and eCommerce. When I built the eCommerce site I was introduced to web development and basically jumped in head first.

Since then I became a software engineer working at a Fortune 500 company making 6 figures a year. I realized that I am near the ceiling of the salary range for my profession and started looking for other ways to continue growing as a person and financially. I eventually stumbled back on affiliate marketing and online sales.

My previous job I was on the conversion team for a product that had 1 million unique visitors a day and our affiliates were making $400k a month. I didn't really think much of it since I was an engineer. I was able to help the product boost in conversion by a few percent but that represented millions of dollars more per year.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone can point me in a good direction as far as affiliate marketing. I am really good at creating and sticking to a game plan so any and all advice helps. I also am open to trading development for marketing mentorship.

It is hilarious that I was able to recall my username and password 10 minutes ago when I somehow remembered about the Warrior Forum. I will try to contribute as much as I can as I learn along that way. Thank you guys!

Where should I start?
How do I choose products to be an affiliate for?
How much money should I spend on running ads in the beginning?
Do I build my own landing pages or do affiliate programs handle that?
What are good resources for driving traffic?

So, you already quit your "Fortune 500 company making 6 figures a year job" or you're just thinking about quitting?

You said: "I was able to help the product boost in conversion by a few percent". Were you doing Data Science, like Machine Learning to boost conversion rates?

If so, I think there are a lot of opportunities in affiliate marketing to use your knowledge and experience. But, my experience is that most of the marketers can't really wrap their brain around Data Science. It's not easy to convince them to learn more about Data and actually try apply it to their business.

    In any case, good luck!

Haha! I wouldn't quit my job without being able to replace my salary. One of my friends did that last year and he has an extremely rare success story from it. He was able to gain traction and bought a house in cash.

I actually just split tested different features in their sales funnel and built a few other products for them. I didn't handle the actual data science part although I do understand how to use data for decision making.
