What Would Be a Good Bounce Rate and Length of Visit?

One of my blogs has an average bounce rate of 45% ever since it launched.

The length of each visit is around 3 minutes 35 seconds.

How healthy is this? From the kind of bounce rates and lengths of visit I get on my other blogs, it looks pretty solid to me, but a comparison with fellow warriors would be nice.

My site put online a week ago has a bounce rate of 48% and avg visit length of over nine minutes, total of 77 visits.

This seems ludicrous to me and I think it must be counting myself when I visit my own blog.

What does bounce rate mean by the way?

I would think it is horrible lol, so is mine. That is strange though, my site is about exactly what I say it is, although I have a boring semiologic theme, I think I will flash it up with a magazine theme or something.

45% seems rather good. That means more than half of the people who land on your blog tend to like it. And the average time of over 3 minutes per visitor is actually very good.

Sure it can be improved like anything. But so far: very good.
