I wonder how affiliates actually make money.

I wonder how affiliates actually make money. If you sell Amazon books, HOW? Do you set up websites to sell others products? If so, do you all know html code to be a successful affiliate? How many products do you have to sell to make over $3,000 a month? Is your business eventually a "set-it-and-forget-it" venture?

How much you make and what your goals are are part of the whole prospecting process.

You can make a site and how you decide to monetize it are all part of the process.

You don't have to know all the html code. Most of the time you can just cut and paste a link.

Or you hire out someone else to to the work for you if you are afraid to get your hands dirty.

    Find a niche.
Research the niche to see if it will be profitable.
Research how others are selling those products.
Copy what looks to be successful.

Gardens need to be tended to. Some not so much.

Oh vey. You have a lot of research to do young grasshopper.

You want to be an affiliate for Amazon. Specifically, Kindle books? I could be wrong, but seems like a lot of work for little return. Isn't the average book like $3 and affiliates only get a small portion of that? But then again, people build sites specifically to make pennies with Adsense so what do I know.

The general idea is to set up a site based around a theme (book club, reviews, etc) or topic (health, pregnancy). Then recommend products to your visitors/members.

Generally, you can do nearly anything with Wordpress these days. So no, you don't need to know HTML and can always hire someone to made modifications if necessary.

I'm not sure, but if your average product is $3 and you get 20% (could be more or less) that means you get $.60 per sale. Then you need 5000 sales to make $3,000.

    Hey, sadikmd
At first you have to know what is affiliate marketing.
Affiliate Marketing has 2 levels ....
    (1) Beginner
    (2) Advanced.
At the beginning you will not earn $3000 per month . You can earn little bit, After that the advanced level you can hire HTML editor from freelance site or You also can run paid campaign on PPC, PVC program.

You must need to know some tricky ways in the beginning level.

Website is not mandatory for Affiliate marketing but it could be an advantage. You can write articles and reviews on product and use your affiliate link. Actually, your earning totally depends on how much traffic you are getting. It doesn't matter where it comes from. You can use social media, SEO, PPC, to get traffic. Facebook Paid Ads and Solo Ads are two effective ways of getting traffic.

Testing , testing and more testing. Test your way to success and build a system. Eventually the system makes the profit. Lots of ground works are required. That's what successful affiliates do.

Well you definitely should educate yourself learn the dos and don'ts tips to avoid being scammed. So really the best thing is to sift through the information online and decide for yourself what is worth researching and what is garbage that is really where you should begin. Making $3000 right away is pretty high expectations but it can happen. Choose wisely and don't pay money right away unless you are absolutely 100% sure that you will see a return on investment.

I know the Amazon books was meant as merely an example, but I just want to say something here. Unless you are doing insane/crazy volume, Amazon is NOT the way to go for people just getting into affiliate marketing.

They have a sliding pay scale for affiliates. You will only earn pennies for your efforts unless you are doing massive volume with them. They are definitely not what you want to be focusing your efforts on as a newcomer in this industry.

All of their tools like the amazon store and widgets are meant to make them money - not you.

Yes, there are people who make a living with amazon, but they are also doing insane volume. The more you sell, the bigger cut amazon gives you. It's not a good place for rookies.

Usually, affiliates makes money by finding higher converting products or offers, send traffic to them (never ending learning process for that part), build a list with that traffic (overtime you get quit a bit of people in your tribe) and then, what is measured is being treasured.

A lot of testing and tracking is involved, and that's where a lot of people give up!

My suggestion would be to google "Ed Dale's Challenge". You may or may not be making money when you complete the challenge, but there is free training on any Internet Marketing topic you can think of. Plus every Friday Ed will answer any question you have. Just another resource worth looking into.

So making money as an affiliate is actually pretty simple. You find the offer, in this case the Amazon ebook you would like to sell, and then drive traffic to it. Like anything in sales, it's a numbers game...the more people that see your offer, the more people that will buy your offer.

I hope that helps and best of luck to you

Personally I like the higher priced offers that you would find on networks such as peerfly, maxbounty, etc..

I don't think many affiliates have a set it and forget it model, most of the time there are constant struggles and work (an offer may go down, traffic source changes it's policy, etc)

    Hey,

One of my 7 figure business mentors have taught me that website are a bit outdated for selling affiliate products.

Best way to go is to use single-page websites and build your email list. That one page will contain a description of your product, some copywriting, testimonials and facts about the product and obviously an Order button.

You won't have to design that website. Now there are companies that will do that for you. You only have to pay monthly payment instead of spending thousands of dollars on building websites. Google this word: "clickfunnels" and you will know what I am talking about.

    Good Luck!

I wonder how affiliates actually make money: Well, that shouldn't matter to you. I think a better question is, How do I make affiliate marketing work for me? Can I do it? (I think that is the real question. So, let's move forward.....because you CAN do it!

If you sell Amazon books, HOW?: Same way you sell any other product.
Do you set up websites to sell others products? : WHY limit it to just books? Why not go to physical products shipped to homes and business people? Why not make money from other forms of things that are easier too?

If so, do you all know html code to be a successful affiliate?: GONE are they days where you have to be a HTML expert.
How many products do you have to sell to make over $3,000 a month?: Well, this depends on your profit....so there is a lot to figure out. IT can be done.

Is your business eventually a "set-it-and-forget-it" venture?: Good question - some are and some are not. I'm most cases, you will want to work on them for a few minutes each day or once a week to keep it all fresh and current.

Well, it is not mandatory to have a website to be a affiliate programmer. But it would better to have the website. You need to choose your Niche related products from the affiliate site. You will get a unique code for a product. Then you will paste the unique code to your site, social media or, other place, where you want. After all when a visitor will buy the product by clicking your unique code (which you got from the Affiliate site) you will get paid a commission from the total amount. Here you need to know you will get paid after a successful sale. Thanks for your asking. I hope your got your asked questions answer.

    1. Wordpress (for your website)
    2. InstaBuilder 2 (I use this to make review videos and bonus pages for the producs I promote)
