Need Advices on My Website. Newbie Internet Marketer Here

I am a newbie at internet marketing and I need help on my site. Here is my situation. The site was just upped last August 24. It is now getting traffic and ranked on the first page at Google organic search using keywords "custom leather bracelets". I also used Adwords to drive in traffic during its first phase. I used Weebly.com paid service to build that site since I know nothing on building websites. I am thinking that the problem may be on my website.

website is customleatherbracelets.net

My problem is, I am already getting traffic but still no inquiry or no one has left their email address yet. Hope you could help me in finding a way to generate conversions. At least to get people to leave their email addresses.

My Google analytics report shows that I got 14 visits from Google organic search. Top keyword is "custom leather bracelets" producing 9 visits. Another is "custom leather cuffs" producing an adwords CTR of 33.3%.

I got a total of 64 (including my clicks) visits, 36 absolute new visitors, 289 pageviews (including my clicks too). I have one Twitter inbound link that produced 4 visits.

I only used weebly.com pro editor to create this website. I know nothing in making websites.

Hope you could all help me here! At least I need to start producing emails and maybe inquiries. Please take note that my website just opened last August 24. Is it still too early to tell though? Need help also in tweaking my salescopy.

Prior to this website, I tested the market and we produced one sale that we successfully delivered.

  • I think that your kind of product is not for emotional sales: probably your target audience will see your site and other 5 or 6 before deciding wich one purchase. You should consider to add an easy way to bookmark your site and make the page more clear.
36 visitors are very few to try to figure out some decent statistic.
    To your success
    Ciao

    • The links "Click Here to Purchase" on the promos page are dead! That in itself is enough to turn some prospects away.
    • Thanks so much everyone!

@ MarkAndrews: My website is actually a sales page for a single product only which is custom leather bracelets. Though there is an online store where customers can easily customize the bracelets according to their needs or requirements. I was thinking that for a single product, a long sales copy is needed which I saw also in websites IMC had endorsed. Do you think I have to shorten my salescopy? Or maybe changed the way it is written to be able to grab the right customers in need of our products?

@ corporation: How do I add a bookmark? Sorry if I am unaware of these terms. In this case, I went for a "what is in for you" type of sales letter where I enumerated the benefits more. Maybe I should revise it and go for a "direct to the point" salescopy? Hope you could also give me samples of a good headline for this kind of website.

      Thanks so much!
  • I'll give it a couple more weeks to see how it's picking up. But I can suggest a few things for now from what I can see on the homepage:
    • The site is cluttered with too many things. If you want to gather email addresses, start drawing attention to the opt-in box (eg big arrow signs, red thick border, etc)
    • Main headline is too long, perhaps focus on a couple of your main products and state the benefits
    • The last sentence on the page is a hyperlink, but it doesn't look like one. Make it look clickable, like a button or something.. draw attention to it
    • You have a great product range. I'd put a few good quality photos of your products on the homepage, right on the viewer's face, rather than that picture you have with 3 people on laptop or the one with the carton box

    • Thanks so much! I guess it seems to be cluttered. I'll take note of your advises and do some tweaks. I'll spend time too to rearrange everything. If you dont mind me asking, based on what you see, what should I remove, or rearrange, or add to make it draw better customers? Need your suggestions too.

  • The site design definitely requires some revamp as others had mentioned. You probably want to look at Xsitepro (just Google it). It's a WYSIWYG editor that a complete newbie about HTML can create good looking site. And add a pop up for the opt in instead of leaving there un-noticed on your page.

Or .. if you decided to stick with the existing editor, try to switch the opt in for discount thing to the top right of the site. I remember Brad and Andy did a test during Stompernet launched that that is the hot spot.

But it's difficult to judge with less than 100 unique visitors.. honestly.

    • I did some major changes especially on the homepage. First thing I did was to unclutter everything and make the sales letter shorter and direct to the point. I also placed in a "quick order" option right at the front page after the sales copy, with another button below it for standard orders. I moved the opt-in to the right and created a more attractive sign to catch email. It has a huge arrow on it. I also placed in a money-back guarantee sign right in front.

If you got more suggestions, please feel free to post it in. Remember, I know no-programming things or even web creations, hence, I had to use weebly to develop my site as all I have to do is to drag and paste. I will fix the other pages soon.

  • Touch people's emotions and you will definitely get some more traffic than you've analysed

    • Hmmm, the first set-up was an emotionally charged sales copy but since I am selling a single tangible product, it was suggested that I be more straight to the point and save some space on that long sales copy. Though I highlighted the benefits or "what is in for me" part, I removed redundant stuff.

Though I kept the emotion part still there by highlighting the benefits, I decided to just remove parts, i noticed that it was too emotionally charged at one point

    • If you notice, I have a 6 thumbnails which can be zoomed once clicked, right in the middle of the sales letter. Would it be better if I move that up, and put my guarantee and quick order sign right below everything?
  • I think it's a pretty good start. Yeah you might look at making some changes but you say you've only got 64 visits including yours. With an average opt-in rate of 1% you still haven't got enough traffic to expect even one opt-in. Conversion will improve if you identify a need that you're target market have, then show how you're going to solve that for them.
  • I didn't see the original site so my input is kind of late. Anyway, It seems like Weebly has a ton of new template designs that you can switch to if that fixed size header is a problem for you.

One thing I noticed was you might want to include some keywords in your page title, which is left blank for some reason?

As a design guy, I think simpler is better. You've got too many tricks going on with the outer glows and beveled edges. The busy background actually detracts from the whole point of the site...Custom Leather Bracelets.

To the point that you've had visitors but no contacts...I was never compelled to do anything on your site. But then again, I wasn't in the market for one either.

I can see a lot of effort went into this, so I will refrain from anymore criticism. Being a father of nine children has revealed that my tendency towards exhaustive criticism can often be misunderstood.

If you want any help, just let me know.

    • Thanks for your inputs. I am checking out also other weebly templates, testing all of them one by one.

Here are a few adjustments I made. I moved the pictures of the wristbands even higher, that when someone enters the site, he gets to see more pictures of the bracelets right away.

2nd, I moved the Money-Back Guarantee logo to the middle of the sales letter and I moved the "Quick Order" logo right above the quick order area right at the home page.

At the lower left bar, I placed in a PayPal and DHL logo as they are my sole merchant and logistics provider.

If you got more suggestion, please send them in! I am trying them out one by one. Click rate is still low but analytics shows me it is continually growing.

  • Hi mondort,

I must say well done! The site has definitely evolved since its first draft and it's getting better each time

One thing that I'll do is to use text links instead of buttons for navigation (which you currently have on the right -- order now, promos...)

Another one from the design point of view is to make the banner simpler (if you decide to keep the banners) and make the text crisp. Also, bevels are so 80s

Then, make sure you keep the continuity across the pages eg if you have menus on right hand side, keep them in the same position through all pages. Use the same font, size and colours in general.

    Again, very well done!!!

  • Another concern. Its just been 2 weeks since my website has opened. Question here is, how long does it usually take before I could reach 100 hits from Google searches? I made a Squidoo page, a blogspot, Hubpage, Ezine, and used Adwords also. If you type "custom leather bracelets" and "custom leather cuffs", I am at 1st page. during my market research, it shows that custom leather cuffs gets good searches with not much competition.

Analytics shows me that out Google had gave me 47 visitors already. Website just opened last August 24. Is this slow? Not a single opt-in yet. Well, one from probably a Warrior too
