Hello warriors,

My first post joining your forum. I have been involved in IM for only two months now, and I am very much enjoying the journey. Some of my favorite marketers and bloggers I have been learning from:

I Make Money Online By Telling People How I Make Money Online -John Chow
Award Winning Internet Marketing Blog - Matthew Woodward - Matt Woodward
Tim Ferriss and The 4 Hour Workweek - Tim Ferriss
GaryVaynerchuk.com - Gary V
http://creativelive.com - Chase Jarvis

Who's content do you like? I would like to hear about some of your mentors.

Thanks, Tim Owen

  • I am a big fan of Problogger Darren Rowse.
  • I've been following Bulletproof Coffee's very own Dave Asprey for a few years now. Never start my day without his grass-fed butter and "Brain Octane oil" enriched coffee
  • One of the most successful marketers (and my personal mentor) is Alex Jeffreys.

You will also learn a lot from John Thornhill if you are in the affiliate marketing space.

    Watch what these guys DO!

    All the best,

    Pat
  • i love lots of marketers, but everytime I watch FRANK KERN, he is just on FIRE and his tactics work.

The best thing is you can buy a course from anywhere, but alot of frank kerns stuff is absolutely FREE, and that is what I love.

Not saying he is for everyone, cause he does use colorful language, and sort of a retired beach bum / surfer type. But I think that is all part of his image. People love him, because of this, cause his content is stellar.

    Hope this helps.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Very cool. I used to follow Chase Jarvis a lot with his photography.

I'm also a fan of Joanna Wiebe purely from the perspective that her copywriting voice is on point and has valid contributions to the marketing community.
  • Besides some that have already been mentioned, I also like Paul Myers, Terry Dean, Mark Ford (Michael Masterson), and Jimmy D. Brown.

    Mark
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I used to follow Willie Crawford. Anyone know what happened to him? I like Chris Lee for blogging and Adsense tips, Neil Patel for blogging and IM tips, and I still am on Darren Rowse's email list.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I am big fan of charles ngo. His newsletters are filled with great stuff.
  • If you want solid, actionable information, without the "I'm a guru" nonsense, try:

  • Celebrity worship in the IM field. Oh God, what next

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Neil Patel and it's not even close. Most other gurus give vague information and save the good stuff for when you give them money. Neil's e-mails are usually very good with useful info.
  • I agree with Celente, Frank Kern is awesome I love watching his stuff.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Baba Ishab.
  • I like John Chow, Pat Flynn, Frank Kern, Devon Brown, Liz Tomey and a few others... Will have to checkout some of the others mentioned in this thread. Thanks.

  • One of the most transparent marketers I've followed is John Thornhill (my mentor)

Other marketers I've followed over the years include Chris Farrell and Pat Flynn

  • ok, I'll weigh in on this . . . might get banned, but taking a chance . . . so here's my question - for everyone following different marketers . . . do you think folks are taking action on what they learn each day in the daily emails?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • There are a lot of good ones, but a LOT more bad ones. Let your conscience be your guide

If it doesn't feel right for you, it isn't.

That said, here are a few of my favorites:

    Paul Myers
    Marlon Sanders
    Dan Kennedy
    Frank Kern
    Ben Settle

    • I agree there's loads more bad ones promoting internet marketing as some kind of magic where you wave a wand and money start flooding in rather than a lifestyle choice that requires loads of work in the initial stages.

Personally I feel the more established internet marketers need to help bring some sanity to this industry.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • I don't mean any disrespect at all, but I'm curious... What exactly have you learned from John Chow?

The reason I ask, is because you're not the first person to say it. I checked out his blog a few times, and just didn't get it I guess. Seemed like there was very little substance.
    • [ 3 ] Thanks

    • I learned from John Chow that you don't have to be good looking movie star to make successful high click videos...anyone can do it~

  • Still looking for one...

  • Hi timowen & welcome to the forum.

There are a lot of great marketers that have had an impression on me, way too many to list actually!

Here are just a few off the top of my head though:

    Gary Halbert
    Matthew Woodward
    Jon Morrow
    Rick Durris
    Robbie Richards
  • I like James Scholes because he is our very owns plus he is an amazing Internet marketer.

I also follow Russel Brunson because he is the forunder of a software company with a sales funnel for it that I personally admire, he is also mentored by Dan Kennedy who i have following very tediously for months now.

I look at Dan Kennedy as the God Father really..

I follow Greg Gomez the Third because I feel in the Sales & Closing department, with I think almost twenty years working as a telemarketer, he brings a lot of experience and valuable advice into his Teachings. plus his Sales Funnel is amazing.

Alfredo Delgado and Justin Beasley are two more Social media Gurus who are great Social Media experts in my opinion backed by facts.
  • The late Cory Rudl and the Internet Marketing Center, Gery Carson at SFI, and Russell Brunson have been instrumental to my success.

    • Look who is saying about who

do you even know what you r trying to say atleast say with some decency

  • I like Jim Daniels at Bizweb2000.com and have been reading his material for years. He's a straight shooter and generally limits the hype.

He is one of the originals who started in 1996 and I'm pretty sure he has seen it all. I like his writing style and he sounds like a very down to earth guy.

I have emailed him a few times and always got a response. You don't see that very often in IM.
  • Russel Brunson?? stay away from that scam artist (potato gun - I will say no more) - I like Kern, Andy Jenkins and Trey Smith - I would also add Matt Carter and Mark Ling - they provide great content on a consistent basis, Kern is great for establishing the right mind set for marketing, Andy Jenkins is the video boss (literally) and Trey smith is awesome at teaching everything about apps for new and established developers, Matt Carter and Mark Ling provide great consistent content on affiliate marketing - Matt Carters blog is one of the best Ive seen. There have been a lot of names dropped here that I would encourage people to do more research on - some people become fans of these gurus and will stand up for them at no cost - do your own diligence but dont fall in love with your guru or you could be paying thousands for services you may be told you need when in fact you dont

    • You should say more to back up your claim - RB is many things, but a "scam artist" isn't one of them.

Potato guns are awesome - I've built more than my share.

  • Nice to have you here mate! I'm a big Fan of Jeff Lenney, he gives a real no nonsense approach to IM and Affiliate Marketing... All the best bro
  • Dan Kennedy (business development and copywriting)
    Neil Patel (blogging)
Gary Vee (social media and entrepreneurship)
Marlon Sanders,Alex Jeffreys & David Wood (internet marketing)
    Marc Barrett (network marketing)
  • Matt Woodward, John Chow, Pat Flyn and Yaro Starak.

I learned a lot with these guys
  • I have to agree with KarlB it is Neal Patel and it's not even close. He gives away more valuable free information than any top level marketer that I have ever seen. Co-founder of Crazy Eggs and you should read some of his post on QuickSprout you can put together your own training manual just based on his post.
  • Neil Patel. He delivers great content almost on a daily basis.
  • Here are some of my favorite mentors:

Neil Patel on blogging and content marketing.
Aidan Booth, Steve Clayton and Tim on ecommerce and niche sites
    Darren Rowse the Problogger
Ryan Deiss, Russell Brunson and more
  • How about Jon Loomer, he's an expert in Facebook marketing
  • [DELETED]
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • He's not a marketer per se, but I read a couple of Robert Kiyosaki's books and I always read his articles etc & I can def say his business skills & just marketing savvy have helped me immensely as someone in digital & social media marketing
  • I opted into a Frank Kern list a couple weeks ago and the three email blasts I have received since then have been helpful, so he is a recommend I have at the moment.
  • Another Vote here for Jeff Lenney, I ALSO like:
    Neil Patel
    Brian Dean
    Dori Friend

    Just to name a few
  • Hey everyone !

Quite an awesome response thread from the community!

Thanks for that - and I bet we all got some new ideas.

I can't wait to check out some more content from the mentors that you've listed!

    UPDATE:

I've been working hard, and I know you have too.

But, I decided that my content sucks.

And for my penance for my sins of writing 500 word blog posts in the first month of my site.

    I seek forgiveness.

I have consulted with the High Sparrow for guidance.

Through his counsel- I have decided to remove all banner ads and e-mail captures from my page until I write a boss ass post that gets ten organic or offline marketing comments.

Thanks for the free advice, warriors!

If any other newbies want to take place in the 7 days no chance for money challenge, please send me a message and we can brainstorm about writing ideas.

  • My heroes are Pat Flynn, John Chow, ShoeMoney.

Pat Flynn, I think, is the most interesting personage. He was an ordinary guy. And he still is.
He inspired me to start a blog, a youtube channel. I purchased a web hosting services by clicking his affiliate link, and he made another $65 from that click ))

I remember, 5-6 years ago I was reading Shoemoney's blog. This guy inspired me a lot as well ))
  • Jimmy Brown
  • Visited John Chow's website a couple times and there is just nothing there in my opinion. Shoemoney as well, all I see is a guy holding an adsense check from 1999.

I like Viperchill, Charles Floate has some good tutorials for the darker side of SEO, Brian Deane, Neil Patel.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • i am fan of moz because i read and follow blogs and i learn and its marketing strategy is good i like it.
  • i think steve jobs is the best marketer in the worlsds
  • jay baer, "Make your marketing so useful people would pay for it." ok
  • These are my Mentors and whom I studied under marketing greats such as Frank Kern, Jay White, Russell Brunson, Ryan Deiss, Sean Mize, Paul Walker, Paul Nicholls just to name a few.

It's really hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to I would have to say Frank Kern, because he was my first mentor.
  • I'm a HUGE fan of Frank Kern. I have learned so much from him. I also really like Andre Chaperon, Ben Settle, Ryan Deiss, Neil Patel, the dudes from AppSumo, and some other marketers I'm forgetting right now.
  • hey I really like the style of Frank Kern (he knows what he do perfectly)
  • For everyone saying Frank Kern - I just checked his website and his courses cost $3k So you all paid that ?!
    • [1] reply
    • actually you do not have to JOIN FRANK kerns stuff.

I am telling you his LIVE facebook videos....are very professional....and if you go watch them every week, you will learn lots more with him there than, a 997 course, or video training.

just watch his updates, study his emails, and writer down his tips. Test em all, and keep doing stuff that works. :-) your total cost = Some of your valuable time. But its time well spent in my book!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
