Unless you have a method for getting customers you will never be able to compete with the big dogs. Extremely competitive and also dominated by EIG.

Hosting industry is very much competitive and needs a lots of work and dedication. There are some big hosting companies out their. So, you have to put your steps very wisely.

The biggest challenge you may find will be in the billing and customer support departments. When reselling web hosting services, you will be responsible for all aspects of client billing and customer support issues.

If your client has a server configuration need or a specific script installed, they will contact you, and you in turn will need to contact your provider. You become the ‘middleman’ for all support related issues and problems. Same is true with invoicing and payments. Plus, your provider will be billing you, regardless of whether you’re able to collect payment from your customers.

This may not be a big challenge at first, but once you are managing dozens or more accounts, the workload can become very challenging.

I wouldn't put your full focus on hosting. I make money from my reseller account but I focus on other areas too. I have several of my own sites and also run several for clients who pay my bills.

There is a LOT of competition in the hosting business and it's highly saturated so consider offering websites alongside this for better results.

If you build websites for clients then yes great idea. Otherwise that stuff is beyond competitive. Just look at Webhostingtalk.com If they see one person asking for a specific type of hosting that bounce on them like a flee on a dog!

Selling web hosting is something great as an add on -- it's not something you can start today and earn tomorrow.
