The best strategy boils down to 2 things (largely) :

    1. Being able to find and acquire relevant potential customers, that is, generating targeted traffic...

    2. And being able to convert that targeted traffic into actual paying customers, which usually includes some sort of follow-up, such as email marketing.

How you go about these 2 things can vary wildly depending on several factors, such as the niche you're targeting, your ad budget, and your personal preferences.

On that note, social media marketing is not always the best way to reach your target audience.

I'll admit that most markets out there can now be tapped by social media due to the diverse demographics, but whether that's the best choice (or most profitable one) for you remains to be seen.

We are getting huge results with BING, I liken BING to what google was like in the good old days. That is the very cheap clicks.

Our most cheap click, is 3cents, and most expensive click on bing is 55cent, and even for us 55cent is dirt cheap.

When it comes down to it, if you are getting leads and quality leads at that for under $1, then do backflips, you have yourself a serious business. Its all about leads, leads, leads. If you do not get leads every day for you business, you are just simply wasting time online and you will not get anywhere.

Traffic and leads are the life blood to any business.

As Alex said, best shot is to deliver high quality content and focus on adding value. On top of that however, the best way in my opinion is to focus on building a list through various social media platform and only monetize the LIST.

On Facebook you can use Custom Tabs to embed your squeeze/sales pages, create contests to grow your list and so on. You can also create contests on Instagram and put the sign-up link in your Bio whilst you mention in your posts (and images) that anyone who wants to win your free stuff can check your Bio.

One strategy that I am using right now is Twitter Hashtags. I use a free service called ritetag that finds the hastags (in any niche) that get the exposure. I then create a tweet using the top hashtags for my niche.

This method allows you get more exposure to your tweet even if you don't have many followers.

Spoken by one that has little experience in marketing. This is an industry that defies "one-size-fits-all." What works best for you, in all likelyhood, won't work best for the next person.

Yes, social media does provide traffic (if done right) in some niches. But I have heard many seasoned marketers say that SM leads do not convert well in their niche. And if traffic doesn't convert to dollars, is it really the best source for marketing? I think not.

Social media can be a good way to "bypass" the Google sandbox. Typically, most new sites won't rank well (if not, at all) within the first 3-6 months of being active. By building up a solid social media following (paying for likes), you'll be able to get descent traffic until you're out of the sandbox. Isn't free, but it works.

This is so true. People go into internet marketing thinking "I want to make money RIGHT NOW". It doesn't quite work that way. Quality content is always the key. Eventually, you'll be saying the thing that people are looking for.

There is no best way. Only the way that suitable to you and you can master.
    Is Karate better or Taekwondo?
It depends on the person who practices it, not the method.

    Same goes for marketing.
Is SEO better than social marketing?
It depends on the person who applies the techniques.
    We know both methods work.

So work on to master the technique. Focus on just one or two.

Please add clarification to the original post with exactly what you have done and what the results have been. Explain with as much detail as you can how you've gone about trying to optimise SEO and exactly what you've done around social media marketing. Explain how you've been tracking the results and what the exact differences are or aren't. We can go from there.

The question as it stands is far too open ended for productive discussion relevant to your needs to occur.

        NOTE:
For SEO read this and the article it discusses here.
This also contains some great information about what has worked for another member.

I agree with you, that social media marketing is one of the best way in online marketing!
    Instead, SEO should include:

    • Relevant Keywords
    • Valuable Content that is Shared
    • A Website that Loads Quickly
    • Both Images & Content
    • Backlinks from Respected Websites

  • There is no best or worst strategy to get people to see your website .It is just that what makes you comfortable .Some people are more comfortable in SEO some are not .Answer to your question is subjective i would say if you r brand new focus on one marketing method and do not leave it until you have made $10k out of it .

    Hope this helps

My advice for online marketing is as follows.
    1.Find a hungry market.
    2. Find a product to fulfil that market.
    3. Test the product for yourself.
    4. Make a review video and put it on Youtube.

People love video. Remember that Youtube is every much a search engine as Google.
In fact, in case you didn't know, Google owns Youtube. So if your video is correctly set up, it will also show up in Google's organic search results.

Which ways are you looking for?
You can think in terms of long term or short term.
Building a website around a niche and creating quality content can help you in many ways.
For a quick start, I will suggest go for Bing and facebook ads etc.
