Sole Trader - Name??

Hi Guys,

I will establish myself as *** Group as my sole trader business, but am I okay to present myself with a different name? I mean, my name personally - like a Pen name..

Ex...

Cal Fadunkadunk
trading as ***** Group

My real name is Brendan Corbett and I hate it. Need to trade on something different.

    Well, sure this is the internet, you can call yourself whatever you want. But if you are registering a business there might be legal implications depending on your local laws.

    Additionally, if your clients/customers find out you are using a fake name it can hurt your credibility.

    At the end of the day, there are worse names than "Brendan Corbett", just saying.

    lol Thanks Steve.

    I just get attached with my name (as in Ronnie Corbett) and sooo many people ask if I am related, and Americans say it wrong. "Cor-BET"

    I would like to take a new name for my business. I wish I could use my own name but, neh. Brendan Corbett - I don't have an irish accent and I am not connected to dear Ronnie.

    So am I okay to be "trading as Brendan Corbett" ..and use a diff name to present myself as a brand?

    ** I know the legalities. Not copying etc etc
