Help: Affiliate Marketing Questions - A Little Disorganised

Hello. I am about to set up an affiliate website based on weight loss motivation, but got a few questions. Sorry, if some of them seem stupid but I have so far been working with random bits of information obtained from the internet, so feel pretty disorganised.

1) I was initially going to create links to products on Clickbank but decided to use Amazon instead, because I understand the products better. However, they are just books so will the commission simply be too low to be worth it? Shall I try to implement Clickbank products too, which obviously provide greater commission percentages?

2) I am just writing a few articles based around ways with which to maintain the motivation to lose weight, providing links to certain books (on amazon) throughout. I have a home page that provides easy access and an introduction to these articles. Is structure this ok? Or should I focus on other elements, such as focusing on certain keywords?

3) Should I focus on getting up all the articles now - I was told about 15/20 (I have about 6 ready), then focus on SEO, Backlinks etc (not researched too much into this yet). Or should I focus on both at the same time?

4) What are your preferences regarding small and authority sites? Is 15/20 articles a good number for an initial affiliate site?

5) Finally, are there produces that answer all of the above questions lol - any good books based on affiliate marketing? When I look up for ones with Amazon, the ones I see have very few reviews - which could well be fake - so I am unable to ascertain the quality. Does anyone have any recommendations? This could include websites - I am already familiar with Smart Passive Income.

I would appreciate you help with this; I am going into this pretty blind and knowing answers to these would really help.

Thanks,

Stephen

    Hi Stephen,
First of all, congrats on taking action! Action is the KEY for success online!
Second, here are my answers to your questions, Hope they will help you in a way

    1) I would focus on ClickBank products first, because they have high commissions - not like Amazon. You will get only a few penny's from amazon.

2 +3) I would create articles that have keywords in them. That's so they can get ranked easier. I wouldn't put the keyword to many times in the article. maybe 2% of the article should have your keyword in it.
I would post an article on different days! not all at once...so it will look natural...like you are creating a blog and writing to help people and not to sell them products.
About backlinking to your articles, I would do them slowly as well, not to spam the sites with your new articles - so you can get quick sales.
When you create backlinks to your site - make sure you put 1-2 backlinks to other websites that can help the reader with his/her's problem. that way you don't look like you are a spammer and that you truly are trying to help as many people as possible.
So I would first focus on creating good articles that have your keywords in them and then I would post them to my site, and then I would create backlinks to them...but all slowly and naturally. (that's just to be on the safe side, and so that google won't deindex my website)
Also, I would create some regular articles on my site (without affiliate links) so that the site will look really friendly and not trying to push people to buy the products! (I hope you know what I am trying to say )

    4) I think that 15-20 articles is a good number. Just remember! Not all of your articles should like to a product you are trying to sell!

    Hope I helped!
    Cheers, and good luck!
    Eva.

    1) Go Clickbank. Amazon is good, because just about anyone who's ever been on the internet, especially buyers, have been and or bought something from Amazon, and most likely already have an Amazon account. However, most products won't pay you very well. You'll never recover the expenses if you don't get more income per sale. Clickbank, as well as JVZoo.com, CommissionJunction, Share-a-sale... They all have loads of products, some physical, but mostly digital that pay much more per purchase.

    2) You want to write articles and post them at various times throughout different days. You can write 3-5 new articles a week, and do that at different times so they don't look scheduled exactly on the hour. This just makes it more authentic to search engines. Focus on the article for effectiveness on helping the person, not just keyword density. Put the keyword throughout the article, but lightly. Make it natural and fluid. Don't seem spammy.

    3) Again, similar to question 2, do it naturally throughout a couple weeks. You don't want to rush these things. Rushed websites look crappy, and without value to search engines. You want to naturally grow it, along with an audience, for instance, from a facebook page for your blog. Get natural followers and send them to your website.

    4) As far as the number of articles... 15/20 articles won't necessarily bring in consistent traffic, simply because if you do happen to get a page ranked first on Google, chances are, if you leave the website idle, your followers numbers will drop, and so will your SEO, because the Search Engines will see that your website is no longer offering new, useful content, and a decline of activity is damaging.

    5) As far as learning Affiliate Marketing from books... Most likely they will all just be affiliate marketers creating books to get people to buy products without actually taking you through the process. Unless it's a detailed, step-by-step ebook WITH A VIDEO COURSE, it most likely won't be more informative than the information you can read on here for free.

Also, check out my article that I wrote. You may find some helpful stuff in that thread as well: Pick a Plan, And Just Do It! Here's EXACTLY what I do for income!

You definitely have to be ORGANIZED :p
And to do that you have to follow step by step approach.
    1. Identify your Interest/Niche, which in your case is WEIGHT LOSS.
    2. Identify Your market (Blogs/websites/social media fan pages/channels/etc) for connection.
    3. The purchasing capabilities of customers in your niche (Conversion rates).
    4. Product Selection.
    5. Continuously engage your customer list with cool stuff about your future product.

And there are many other things that As an Affiliate you must learn in order to enter this business line. And i think Affiliate Marketing Guide is just for you (In Signature).

Must Note: There is no bigger difference you can create by changing your Affiliate Platform like Click Bank, Amazon or any other website UNLESS your product is selling.

    Best Wishes!

Amazon.com pays you for any product people you send there buy within the allotted time. You can send them to buy a $1200 elliptical machine and they end up buying a $29 exercise CD, you get paid 4% of the CD price.

You send them to buy an $8 book and they buy a $1200 exercise machine, you make 4% of the exercise machine.

If you sell 20 products at $12 a week with amazon, your sales are $240 and your commission is 6% (because you sold more then 5, if memory serves). That means, you made 14.4.

If you sell 200, your commission is $144.

If you sell 1 product at 250 on clickbank and your commission is 25%, you made $24.25.

My point? To make your decision, you need to know numbers, how many people can you send to a clickbank sales page and how many of those end up buying and how many people can you send to an amazon page and how many of those end up buying.

That said, obviously, all other things being equal, it's better to promote a $100 product than a $10.

Your best bet is to try both and see which one YOU can make work best. There are people who make great money with amazon and people who make great money with clickbank. Some of them could do both successfully and some would have a hard time doing okay on the other platform. Because there are some differences in what is required to be successful.
