Complete newbie, Completely lost

Hi there!

I've joined these forums and am just beginning to read through the plethora of information available. I just opened my own fitness business as i'm a personal trainer. I just finished my website which includes: 3 fitness e-books (targeted specifically at beginners), customized online training (including app, correspondence, hundreds of videos where i'm demonstrating exercises/form, and more), and in-person bootcamps.

Here's the thing. I have all of this stuff ready to go, ready to be sold, i just have NO CLUE about how to reach my intended audience.

First of all my e-books; I was thinking about buying another domain with the e-books name and just having one of those really long clickbank style landing pages (with video about the product) and setting up an account with clickbank. Is this a good idea? My only concern is i already have a website, i already invested the time getting that all set up along with an SSL, designing my payment gateway, and more. If i did this it would be more time, more money, and all my transactions would be done through clickbank. Is this really worth it for this type of information product? I know this might seem like a silly question, i'm just at the point where i've invested all this time up-front and i'm ready to start making some sales.

Secondly, for online training, what is the best method for advertising this? I want to offer customizeable workout plans to my clients at a discounted price than they would pay if they were to work with me one on one in person. This is an opportunity for me to create effective workout plans for people all over the world, and at a cheaper price.

Lastly, for my bootcamps i'm going to be doing advertising in my local area as well as maybe some facebook ads in my local area.

I guess my main question is, how do i drive traffic to my site? How can i most effectively sell these services/products?

My current plan is to develop a social media presence, start buying some facebook ads, keeping up to date on social media, and maybe contacting some social media accounts on instagram involved in fitness who can advertise my e-book or services. I'd like to know any tips/tricks/dos/donts so that i don't waste time, money, and more on inneffective marketing strategies.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some pointers and i'm sorry if i've posted in the wrong area of the forum. P.S. I will continue to read and learn as i read through the forums so i'm sorry if i've posted a stupid question.

p.s.s. I'm also looking into getting some sort of software so i can create and manage an email list with a newsletter (as well as adding a pop-up call-to-action on my site). I'm not sure what i'm doing though....

    That sounds great...

And it sounds like you already have a pretty good strategy in place on how to market this, because some one the things you will be doing is some of the things I would have suggested to you.

Here are some other things you may want to put in place though...

Make sure to create a Lead Magnet to give away to attract the right crowd of people that are interested in what you are selling so you can start building a list. You are also gonna want to have a Thank You page for that lead Magnet on your website.

You also need to have a good Autoresponder in place, I use GetResponse. Then you are going to want to start creating email campaigns to put in your autoresponder to follow up with your leads that picked up your free Lead Magnet.

Last you will want an opt in page (squeeze page) on your website where the prospects can sign up to your list to get the free lead magnet.

And make sure all you links are working properly, the last thing you want is someone coming through your funnel and find some broken links.

And the final thing you may want to consider is having some blogs on your site about your niche, this is the best way to drive traffic to your page and inside those blogs you will link to your products, sorta of a soft sell if you will.

When using social media, this is the best way to advertise. Either use your blog post titles to get them to your page and boost the post or use and ad for your Free Lead Magnet to collect leads.

If you try to just put up your offer in front of people using ads, you might get a few bites, but if they do come to your page you may never hear from them again. Now, on the other hand if you use a Lead Magnet to collect emails, you can then follow up with them later until they decided to buy.

    Make sense?

Fantastic! I had no idea what a lead magnet was until now, but that sounds like great advice! I will definitely add a blog, a lead magnet, and i will look up the autoresponder you recommended!

      Thank you so very much!

You have done a great job. You don't seem like a complete newbie who is lost. You have planned everything perfectly.

It seems Ronnie has answered almost everything you were looking for.

I would recommend a squeeze page too. That's the best way to get leads if you give away something for free in the same niche. It could be first few pages of your eBook you are selling.

When I was starting out- I started a site about Agoraphobia because I related to it. I started on a low budget, hired an expensive content writer, I created a beautiful Authority site, spent everything I got to get the site up and running. After comparing my site to others in the same niche, I was proud of my work. I got great reviews for my site from my friends and even Google recommended my site.

What I didn’t had was a proper plan in place. My site was up and running, but I didn’t have any buying traffic. Besides Agoraphobics are people who fear to get out of their houses, they fear doing anything new- “buying a product which would help them come out of Agoraphobia was one of them”.

Long story short- it didn’t work out. I lost all my money. I was out there, helping people come out of their Depression, I myself went into Depression and didn’t come back to IM for another 6 months.

You have a perfect plan and a good Product in place. There is hell lot of information out there and it may overwhelm you. If you are completely new to Internet Marketing my best advice would be to hire a mentor who would help you get going. This is not the time when you should be lost.

Facebook Page and social media presence would be a great idea. FB ads comes cheap.
You can get thousands of likes and shares to start with on Fiverr.com for mere $5. They would also help you setting up a squeeze funnel.

Any help with a squeeze funnel, you may PM me.

All the very best with your Website.

Thanks so much for this information! I will definitely look into having a squeeze page! I didn't know you could use fiverr that way, do you just essentially buy likes/shares? I will also look more into a squeeze funnel, thanks so much!

You don't have to necessarily buy likes and shares. They are just likes from people who may not be interested in your niche. But if your page already has many likes, you ave a social proof to start with. People usually follow the herd, if they see a page with thousands of likes they may just like it as well without thinking for an instance. If your page has zero likes and even if you bring a targeted viewer to your page, he may or may not like your page, he may not want to be the first person to like your page.

I guess you understand what I mean.

The absolute worst thing you can do is buy fake likes and shares for Facebook and Twitter followers. Anyone who knows anything about IM will back me up on this.

Don't believe/trust/follow/act upon something, just because you read it on an IM forum. There are a lot of people here than are ready to give you advice that have never made a dime in IM, have questionable tactics and business ethics and truly couldn't care if you succeed or not. They are just incapable of not spouting their nonsense because they have nothing better to do with their time.

You seem serious about what you are doing, appear to have invested a tremendous amount of time and not a paltry sum in real money.

Take your time. Read. Keep asking questions, but above all - tread cautiously. One really bad move can destroy your entire effort.

You seem smart enough. Show me I'm not wrong. :-)

Cheers and good luck. - Frank

    Great job

I am also in the fitness industry so good luck to you firstly,

So in regards to selling your products, I wouldn't mind too much about clickbank, you can just sell your books on your site and automatically send the book when the visitor has paid. If your using wordpress I believe there are some plugins you can use for this process. Also there may be some available where you can upsell more products.

To answer your question about online training, I'm sure you have contact info on your website? Well if you have a big following and your readers have trust in you they will automatically just want to work with you. You should mention this in your book that you offer this service as well.

Like the other peeps above, you should create a lead page and offer an incentive like a free book/report. This will generate emails addresses that you can target your books to automatically using an autoresponder. EASY

Promote your lead pages on Instagram, Facebook ect (everyone loves a freebie)...

Also blog regularly and create rich SEO content, this will create some free content for you

I hope all this helps & if you want to network in any way just hit me up with an email/DM.

thanks so much! Yes, i actually already have it set up on my site: customer clicks "buy now", checks out, and then they receive instant access to the e-book for download, they also receive an email with the PDF automatically.

Same with the online training, they receive a link to create their user/pass on the website or app and then they receive instant access to their training plan/videos/calendar/MFP calorie goal, and more.

I do mention my training services in all three of my books as well. but i definitely don't have a blog up and going yet, and i don't have a following yet.

I will definitely be creating a lead page (not sure if i should give away a few pages for free of my guide or create a simple one for free) but that makes perfect sense as far as building up an email list to which i can market stuff later.

I understand they have to know, like, and trust you in order to spend money in general so that gives me the perfect opportunity. i might also consider doing a weekly newsletter or something to build this list as well. hmm...

As far as "creating rich SEO content", i am kind of unfamiliar. essentially are you saying that if i'm creating varied content and am driving a lot of unique traffic to my site that i will rank better on things like google? Sorry, i'm sure that sounds silly.

And yes! Once i start implementing all of this stuff within the next week i'd definitely love to have people i can network with. Perhaps i'll hit you up!

Yes I would give away parts of your book. This is something that I will be doing. You can then have pages within that book that will link to the full product page - kind of like a "Click here to Access more" feature.

I would recommend spending an hour or so one day per week writing up a few emails that will be sent on autopilot for the following week. This way you will be automating the process somewhat and save you time in the long run.

Kind of. Obviously creating content will boost traffic as say for instance you target a keyword that produces roughly 20 searches a day and you appear on page one of google. That's 20 potential people per day you could get to your website.

Say if you have more than 10 blog posts on other keywords (with 20 searches per day each) thats 200+ daily potential visitors.

(I personally would aim at keywords with higher visitors and maybe target longer tailed keywords)

        **On Page activities includes:

        1. Must-have unique content
        2. Updated Meta Title and Meta Tags
        3. Image alt tags etc.
        4) Make URL's short & Sweet
        5) Use images, videos, Diagrams to decrease bounce rate
        6) boost site speed
        7) Post content should be around 1,900 + words

I would get beta testers offline or online to present as a case study. I would work on a short term loss of 5-10 pounds with a person for free.

I would randomly help people in gym, and give help without asking for help in return. I would offer information that goes beyond personal training to set yourself apart such as women in a certain age may be worried about X, and you speak to that.

Offer a free webinar about tips, hand out flyers to target audience to show up, or drive traffic online to squeeze page.

So, this is something that is done before making your products/videos/etc.

Find the starving audience and feed them what they want.

You are offering steak. Maybe everyone wants chicken.

Not questioning your ability to do what it is that you do, but identifying your target market (and where they are) is key to do in the beginning. You create the products for them - not what you think people need in general.

This is an ethical thing as well as "no guarantee" with buying likes on fiverr. I'd not do it personally. To each his own.

    Hi,
Great stuff and great ideas. If you prefer not to own your own blog, you could trial a system that I'm currently testing with some interesting results to promote your website. (And no, just in case people think I'm getting some type of commission for saying this - I'm definitely not!)

Check out PR Dominator (being sold here as a WSO on WF). You can write articles etc. and include your link - both news, press releases or articles. Simply choose the keyword/s you want to rank for as the title of your article and ensure you cut and past the title into the geo location section.

I've had some interesting results re this method. (Cost around $30 USD - can't remember the exact price) and you can write as many articles you like.) 6 out of 7 articles I've written as still showing on page 1 of Google over 14 days after being published. And the number of clicks onto the articles are gradually increasing. Whilst the link on the Google Page 1 is the link of the PR Dominator website my links are showing in the articles once people click on to read. I don't see this as a major traffic source, just an interesting one and one that can build up over time.

Not saying it will suit your business, simply saying do your due diligence and if it suits what you want to achieve, then test it out for yourself.

    Hope this assists.

Don't forget to consider squeeze page to get the leads. It's better if you collect lead first and then offer your paid product to maximize earning.
    Good luck, mate!
