If Content is the King, Then Who's the Queen?

81 replies
I've heard the phrase "Content is the King" for so many times that I become tired of it. OK, I get it. Content is important. Content is essential. Content is the new black. So, in order to be truly successful marketers, all we have to do is to write, write, write...

I think that His Royal Highness the Content needs a helping hand. But, who could that be? Maybe we need more than one Queen for Content to be truly successful? What do you think? Who is or who are the Queens our good old Content king can't possibly live without?
#content #king #queen

    King = Content
    Queen = SEO
    Prime Minister = Google / Yahoo / Bing /etc
    Ministers = Social Medias
    Guard = Password
    Army Force = FB ads, google adsense, etc
    Chamberlain = Paypal & Visa/Master credit card
    PEOPLE = TRAFFIC

    Now the kingdom success story is still depending on how the author (YOU) write it down!

      This is great!! Thank you for sharing. You put a huge smile on my face. Thank you! The whole cabinet/government is here, LOL.

      That's the point, I guess. No single element can solve the battle. You need to make sure the right synergy is out there. Otherwise, you're going to end up asking yourself what went wrong. I did everything right. Yes, you did, but only with one element included.

      Thx.

        because where does it all come from?

        did anyone ever mention a queen in those days?

      The million dollar answer! BAM! Love it! 100% truth. However, you need to remember that the "kingdom" must offer quality products and services otherwise the people of the town(traffic to website) will not buy anything, thus leaving the kingdom as a ruinous heap without even being through war(trial and error/problems), which eventually happens to a strong and growing kingdom!

      Although, I haven't seen a single fatty jester in the movies. All of them are in such good shape. You know dancing, acrobation and stuff. Guees, I'm too fat for the job, but thanks for suggesting. I liked the idea.

      Excellent points. Really impressive. Without social media, there's not much you can do, so I agree. You're probably referring to black hat SEO techniques. I understand, although to be quite honest, you can also use social media in the wrong kind of way, I mean from the ethical point of view.

    I think if content is king then sharing is queen. Having great content won't do much if nobody sees it. For that reason, how you share your content with targeted customers is so important. Sharing your content on social media is a most ideal approach to get your content read and shared.

      True. I was about to say that this choice is associated with the previous comment about social media. So, it makes a perfect sense. Without sharing, you're writing it for your eyes only. Good luck with sharing and thank you for the comment. Nesha

    Context is queen. SEO is important for link building, ranking etc. but for example, if you post content on social media that is not in the right context - no amount of decent SEO will save your post from dropping into the pit never to be seen or engaged with.

    Context is so, so important. Not only for platforms, but for your audience.

      Very, very interesting point and quite a relevant one. Honestly, I completely forgot about context. Be careful what you write, but you should be even more careful what would be your most preferred context.

    The phrase "content is king" is generally thrown about in SEO circles, and usually by people who have no clue how to rank a page and subscribe to the "if you build it, they will come" nonsense of just writing great content will get you ranked in Google. In terms of SEO, content is not even remotely close to king.

    For any phrase that is at least moderately competitive, I can rank a page with total junk content with enough good quality links. I cannot rank a page with great content with no links.

    If you are talking about just internet marketing in general, there is nothing more important than traffic. It really doesn't matter how you generate traffic, just that you generate targeted traffic. Again, content is still not king because if nobody sees your content, it really doesn't matter. Even with really shitty conversions, you can still make money if you flood a page with traffic.

  • Gotta figure the whole royalty analogy is subject to change.

    Kings an' queens kinda die, in spitea their robes an' scepters.

    That is why nobility demands princes.

    King Henry VIII had that problem so bad, he was prepared to rewrite his content over an' over -- an' he still lost out.

    But see, I figure princesses are kinda cool.

    Kiss enough frogs as we are exercisin' our lips for future adventures -- et voila!

    Prince!

    That makes us kingmakers in addition to bein' creatively transformative an' possessin' super smooth skin.

    Shouldn't the question be:

    If 'content is king' is a trite, overused and useless phrase, why are we trying to create another similar phrase?

    Shouldn't we just let 'content is king' die and bury it in the middle of a moonless night in a place so far from everything nobody'll bother to go and dig it out?

    If Content is King, then Backlink is the most suitable to be Queen, because good content coupled with good backlink will propel you to the top of the Search Engines.

    Content is King, you are the writer of peoples choice. Remember the Town Cryer, think of yourself as one. Imagine the people in front of you waiting to hear your words, give then the content but with the emphasis on emotion and vigor. It not what we did it what we have for you to be inspired with future excitement.
    Once been told I had no future by a specialist, it is easy for you to be negative. Instead as a town cryer.
    "We have stories of grim news, and no that was yesterday. Today is tomorrow's history, make sure it's worth reading with the emotion to make inspire and provoke. It might be content, but the Town Cryer does not do it without emotion

    If Content is the king, I would have to say, Context is the queen.

    Both cannot stay without each other.

    And both are more powerful when they are with each other.

    I think that His Royal Highness the Content needs a helping hand. But, who could that be? Maybe we need more than one Queen for Content to be truly successful? What do you think? Who is or who are the Queens our good old Content king can’t possibly live without?

    I think that a great product needs to feature in this royal analogy somewhere! There's no point having great content, SEO all present and correct, quality backlinks being produced and having nothing of substance to back it all up with.

    This post is turnin' out to be the IM equivalenta dressin' up.

    But I guess if we are gonna go fully romantic on the whole royalty analogy, we gotta agree there might be a perfect arrangement someplace.

    King, Queen, Princess, Wizard, Unicorns, Benevolent Dragon.

    Man, that whole kingdom is so rosy an' divine.

    But you know how it goes with alla the best fairy tales.

    One minute you got chirpy squirrels singin' in evry tree, next minute, evil hordes come a-rompin'.

    Or the Princess gets tricked by a witch.

    Or the King transforms into a deluded nudist.

    If content is king, then what are the festerin' shibboleths gonna suck all life from Happyland?

    Gotta figure any kinda traditional lineage deal gonna be susceptible to changes beyond its borders.

    Assoomin' goodly knights an' feisty warrior maidens can forever keep at bay all evil comers, biggest problem you got is peacetime.

    If the world moves on, who wants Happyland any more?

    Man, they are jus' doin' the same ol' stuff, over an' over — an' it is so tired lookin'.

    All established brands hit this content conundrum — how to preserve the integritya the Happyland nation while remainin' relevant in the facea changes beyond the border.

    So I guess you do not need regular incursions into your territory by armed lizard beests for thereta be any threat to your "content".

    Time is the harshest ravager ever.

    I guess.. rankings or SERPs are the queens or queen. If you are a king, you have best ladies in the queue to be your queen. Similarly if you have good and optimized contents, your chances for getting higher ranks are max.

    I often wonder if content really is king because I will often find a great site with a lot of great articles very well written way back on page 10 and they are older sites. I will compare them to the sites on page one and often it isn't that the sites on page one aren't good because they are but they have thousands of backlinks which google claims doesn't matter as much but they really do. However the articles on the site back on page 10 I believe are much better then what is on page one so it has to be something. Is it the amount of content the style of how it is put together because in many cases I will find sites with not much content living on page 1 for years and don't understand if content is king they why are some of these sites on page on at all.
