Generating upsell ideas?

I'm looking for 1-2 upsells to go with my core sleep product. How do you guys go about deciding/researching upsell offers? Is there any type of tool to help with this? If so, is it worth it?

    Hard to say with the lack of info. Assuming you're selling a physical product, the easiest "upsell" is usually 3 for the price of 2 or 6 for the price of 3. Most people will chose the middle option and your profit will increase.

    If it's an info product, the easiest way to find something is to survey your customers and look at your competition. Cross-sells are always a good idea, look into partnering with another product and upsell each other.

    You know your product best. How can you add value to it? What will enhance your product?

    I think the most important guidance I could give is to make your upsell relevant to your core product.

    Can you write a guide on how to use the core product most efficiently? Or how about a guide on how to maintain your product? Are there accessories that could go along with the core product? Is there a deluxe version of the core product that you could upsell?

    I would try to come up with a way to increase it's effectiveness, make the user experience better, or something that will help the core product buyer to feel that value is being added. Only you (that understands the product) will be able to figure out what's the best upsell.

    Here are a couple things that I have seen used my buying products in the past.

    #1 - Done For You Campaigns - Example: If your guide teaches people how to profit from traffic source, then you could give them the same campaigns that were successful for you.

    #2 - Resell Rights - The is probably the easiest upsell to create because all you are doing is giving people the right to resell your product and keep 100% of the profits.

    How do you guys go about deciding/researching upsell offers?
    They make sense.

    What I mean is; if I sell a blueprint for starting a specific business then it would make sense to offer an upsell of say related graphics, autoresponder series, launch assist, entire websites, etc.

    Can you make a recurring membership out of your product? Like new content every month, coaching, counseling, a bedtime story every night?

    Upselling is important because it’s easy money. But other than that, when used properly, upselling can actually bring you closer to your customers and create additional product awareness. Here's a thought I wanna share. Make the Upsell AFTER the original purchase. Wait until your customer has decided to purchase, then offer additional products. If you try to upsell an item before you close on the original item, you may scare off your customer. For some customers, trying to hard or doing a hard sell is a complete turnoff. In this case, wait until the purchase has been made and take advantage of your multi-channel platform to upsell. In a multi-channel platform, you have to take advantage of all opportunities, be it through voice, email, social media, or mobile.
