I haven't used eBay in years. And I don't know if "Amazon is better for dropshipping".

Amazon has a service called "Fulfillment by Amazon" in which they store and ship your product when a sale is made. They also have a built in platform which can help you get your product in front of buyers (like eBay does).

The main problem when it comes to dropshipping, is sourcing your products and making a good profit margin. Most of the all-in-one dropship providers offer slim margins and come with built in competition. Your best bet is to try to find a manufacturer that isn't a dropship service that will sell to you (and preferably only you) wholesale and then take that product (or have the manufacturer mail it) to a fulfillment service.

Generally, when dropshipping, you're looking for smaller items that will save you on storage and shipping costs.

i hate this business model. why u ask?

at the mercy of your dropshipper

    slim margins

the ugly side of customer service

MAN DONT DO IT. Sell info or printables. If u need to sell physicals then do it via amazon fulfillment service (all u gotta do is send the product to amazon and they care of it all, you just need to worry about stock).

Amazon every time due to their fulfillment like Gambino states. But let's not rule out alibaba.com as well. Think of Alibaba as China's "Amazon" or "Ebay" but even bigger. You can get stuff super cheap on their and then ship it our across the world for big profit margins.

There are loads of people already doing this and even some that buy from alibaba.com and then list their items on Ebay and Amazon with massive markups, I think it's known as arbitrage

Alibaba is not a retail site like Amazon or eBay. It is a B2B site loaded with many thousands of traders pretending to be manufacturers.

I have taught thousands of people how to safely buy small quantities direct from manufacturers in China and other countries. Some have successfully built up a business with only $300 to start with.

If you want massive markups, you need to buy from genuine manufacturers.

I personally looked into it and decided against it because the margins seemed too low for all the work. Not trying to talk you out of it. But how do you realistically plan on driving enough traffic to a site you own which is not Amazon's main site. This is one of the major problems I see. Most of the guys who do Amazon, got their sites ranking earlier on. New people trying to rank a site to compete with other product vendors have a much harder time. So then it becomes driving traffic from social media sites and ads and whatever else that even if cheap, you still have to pay for, and that cuts into any profit margins.

I recommend not selling on Amazon. And i recommend not dropshipping on Amazon either. Also make sure you get a good cut of the profits from the products you've sold. It would be pretty exhaustive to sell a $315 product.... only to make just $6 in profit from it. Don't dropship on Ebay. Find a real wholesaler, and list individual items or create bundles.

    I agree.

Do you feel the ground rumbling beneath your feet? That's the sound of big changes coming.

Here's a scenario: Brent orders a bottle of supplements. He foolishly goes with the lowest price seller who happens to be on Amazon. Nearly a month later (after ordering on Ebay and receiving my order) I finally get a refund from Amazon. The last time I checked the package was in a warehouse in Delaware with an "indefinitely delayed" status.

For me, it was the final straw for Amazon.

    Just food for thought.

  • I would not drop ship and sell them on Amazon or Ebay. What I would rather do is to build my own website and drop ship from there; this way I have control over own content since there are a lot of risks involved with drop shipping, it's best not to sell on Amazon/Ebay.

On Amazon, don't do it. Your profits won't pay for your efforts. I use Aliexpress, but drop-shipping is not as simple as completing orders because you still have to worry about shipping time, and how the items are packed. Sometimes even good suppliers get negative reviews because of the way couriers handled their packages.
