What's The New BAN's Store Alternatives?

I've been looking into an alternative to BAN's stores. So far I see people are using things like Drupal and Wordpress.

What other alternatives are there for creating BAN's stores?

Thanks.

I'm a fan of the Wordbay plugin for Wordpress. It's free, super easy to use, works really well, and gives great presentation.

Check it out here: WordPress › WordBay WordPress Plugins

    Hello Marky!

You know my feeling on this

Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal! Drupal!

    Google loves it!

The BANS script is an arse to get google to like!!

It is funny how the whole issue with BANKS sites getting de-index and now everyone hates BANS. I still make money from my BANS sites. how much? Between $10 to $20 per month just from Bing love and yahoo...
not a lot.. but who cares, it takes 5 minutes to build.

I tried phpbay... but overall setting up a wp + theme.. takes longer

the easier thing to be safe, of not being de-index is WP with Ebay widgets... seems to work fine

I started with BANS sites and realised the money was easy however after running analytics I soon started to notice that google just didnt want to rank them. Its all well and good ranking in Yahoo but why leave money on the table???

I recently switched my last site from BANS to Drupal using PHPBAY API and with only doing simple SEO the site is making a fortune and yet I have done very little to it?

So if you can make Ā£9 with just Yahoo and Bing then by using wordpress or drupal you can sure as guaruntee you will make more money.

As with the speed of building a BANS yes its bloody quick but the autgenerated pages are just not ging to last long in the SE's. The other thing is is that you are very limited to what you can do with BANS but with Drupal or Wordpress its easy to add menus categories ect.

I am not into wacking half a million sites up in a week.... thats not the way I roll I beleive in giving the user good quality content and providing them with a fresh clean site that they will return to time and time again!!

Once you are making "hosting money" thats your costs covered then start playing with WP or Dupal when you see the results you willl soon be switching!

The only time I use BANS is to test a niche as it does take 2 mins to knock one up. if the site makes money within that month a drupal site gets built.

Anyway I hope that has answered a few questions

      Good luck everybody

I've tried wp-o-matic and storestacker ... Haven't done anything with storestacker but have been doing pretty good with wp-o-matic. Nothing to write home about, though - always looking for a better way.

I found a new one a few weeks ago. Greg Jacobs has created a program called wpmage. I'm one of the beta testers and it's pretty awesome. I think it's going to beat anything I've seen so far.

I'm not sure when they're going public ... you might want to check it out - wpmage.com -- (no affiliation).

I tried BANS. I had no trouble with de-indexing, but I find PHPBay Pro with Wordpress much more flexible and easy to work with to create a well-rounded site.

@Patrice - BANS = Build a Niche Store. I don't have one up any more or I'd link it.

Guys regarding BANS let's consider this:
You buy a pre-owned domain name
you put your domain name in your reseller
Let say you invest $300 for 1 year of reseller. and you host 50 BANS sites....
ok, so we are talking that each bans site needs to generate $15 to $20 dollars per year to pay itself.

Will your BANS site will be de-index from Google?
    YES.

    So... who cares?
this is a $20 per year investment.

Will your make your money back?
    Yes you will...
even if you don't make profit... you are breaking even.

The problem is when we expect to have 4-10 BANS sites and generate $1000 per month.

I have a SS (Store Stacker) site. Zero link Building. Seriously: ZERO
Why? I hate the software .... I hate installing it and I hate the way the sites looks (just me)... anyway... the site generated a $149 comission from EPN .

Done. I don't care if that site make every again one more sale.
Will I keep the domain name?
    Hell yes.
    Why not...
did google de-index the domain name....
    Yep.
    Should I care?
    No
Because I just need 1 or 2 daily visitors from Yahoo/Bing searching for THAT product to be have the chance of having one sale.

BANS is a strategy to generate some easy money. but you can't really overthink things, just go out there, buy 100 .info domain names, setup 100 BANS sites and forget it.

Go back in one year and see how you have done and then take a second decision about the future of your BANKs network.

    good luck

As far as I am concearned if you are going to spend the time researching a niche and be arsed to build 50 sites then you may aswell spend an extra day or so building it in wordpress that way you will earn more and well its a better roi

go ahead and leave it leave it for a decade and when you return you will see a lovely income!

I dont need to build 50 crappy thin sites to break even I can break even on my first month of a site going live and normally it will be in profit!! I also make a lovely living from just 10 sites that to be honest didnt take long to build and frankly with good keyword on and on page seo rank exceptionally well in both google and yahoo!

But best of all when you have all this sorted you are making a consistant income you can then diversify into many different niches knowing your mortgage is being paid and your bills are covered its amazing how much easier it is to make money when there is no pressure too.

So if you wanna bust your balls to break even follo wthe above method and watch ebay give you the boot as they will do eventually or you could spend a little more time and build a better site and give the user a better experience!

My online presense is about building a solid online business and have spent many years tweeking and testing I know have something that is a well oiled machine! I have used BANS as I have said before and you can make money but for the time and effort and the fact you know you wont come anywhere near with google just means you are leaving money on the table and to me that is bad business!!

Anyway thats my opinion so I dont mean to offend anybody

Last time I looked BANS was $97 or you can buy phpbay for $79 which is a lot more flexible and you can build a better site.

    Good Luck

Hey Danny I just had a quick question for you if that's okay.

I was just taking a look at your cars site and I can definitely see you have some cool features going there that I wouldn't be able to produce with Wordbay.

I was just wondering, have you tried PHPbay with Wordpress also?

I'm just wondering if it's specifically the combination of PHPbay and Drupal that has given you the best results, or if the same results might be achievable on a Wordpress platform too. What do you think?

    Hello,

I have not tried it with wordpress yet I am a little slow on teh uptake of Wordpress I have used WP on a couple of sites but because I know Drupal very well now I rather just use that.

However you can get some good results with the phpbay plugin for WP though its all about finding a good theme.

Finding a theme is the bain of my life at present however when you find a good theme your always onto a winner!

So in answer to your question I think you can get teh same results and maybe even better.

    All the best

Very interesting, thanks heaps for you answer. I'm a theme designer myself so I'm all good on that count.

Hey I really appreciate your input! I was about to start making some ebay sites using Wordbay, but I'm changing up and going to run with PHPbay instead now. I can see the perks just from looking at your site.

So how do you think the new EPC format is going to effect your business? I think I'll miss those big commissions, but at the same time, getting paid for every click has its upsides as well.

Do you think you'll be better off when the change goes through?

    Hello,

EPN is always adding new rules ect ect I have been looking at QCP and I am set to double my monthly income buts only going on last months figures.

However only time will tell, if it all goes tits up then I shall move on to the next affiliate program.

Only ebay has a clue what they are doing all I try and do is pass on good quality traffic!

The problem with BANS, PhpBay or any other eBay feed scrapping site is that they're heavily targeted by Google. There are indications that they're using an algorithm that cross-references eBay listings titles with content of newly indexed pages as well as some other "thin affiliate site" tells. They're then marked for visual inspection by a new "anti-spam" Google team running out of India. If they see typical EPN 'squares', like BANS and PhpBay display by default, or any other affiliate ads, apparently other than Adsense, during their 10 second or less inspection your domain is deindexed. This seems to be particularly true of new .info domains.

The good news is that you will eventually get some Bing and Yahoo traffic and this can make you money. However, being deindexed in Google leaves a lot of money at the table for your keywords, especially if they're good buying keywords.

I don't think Google are overly fussed on this whole subject and what they really hate is "extremely thin" sites, or sites completely filled automatically. But then again we don't want to get started on the autoblog debate, do we ? hehe

Two months ago I would have agreed with you except that the standard BANS footprint has been in targeted by Google's algorithms for over a year. However, in recent weeks, they've become a lot more aggressive against affiliate program oriented sites regardless of the content. It's probably a reaction to the high profile **** and Google Cash flogs, fake news sites and such but they're taking a scorched earth approach to it, as someone noted in another thread here.

Very interesting, thanks for pointing that out. So it seems then you really want to isolate sites on which you use these kinds of programs and start from the outset to target only Bing and Yahoo. That's good to know, as I was just toying with the idea of adding some of these kinds of listings to a site I have that is doing well in Google. I think I'll keep them in their own separate Yahoo / Bing box.

One thing I have had a lot of success with though, is going to Ebay and finding the most interesting and appealing product I can for the niche I'm targeting, ideally something that looks great, and then writing up a post about it with a big picture. I usually grab some pictures of the product and piece them together in to a bit of a montage, so that it's really eye catching. The CTR on these kinds of posts is really strong, and so is resulting conversion.

I might keep the "super interesting post" approach on sites where I'm targeting Google, and isolate any PHPbay sites I do to a Yahoo / Bing strategy.

    Great food for thought, thanks!

    Hello,

Jezz I was in Hervey Bay for a week we went to fraser island...very nice It was in Hervey Bay that some plank robbed my trainers...lol

    Back on Topic.

I have not noticed my sites get de indexed in fact mine are moving up the search engines. I have old domains new domains ect ect and well with my drupal and phpbay combination I have not seen the effect.

I like the most interesting post thing but that will drop youe EPC if I read their guidlines right the only reall clicks you want know is the buying clicks!!

Well I have until october to rinse the old ebay pricing structure then when the new one jumps in We shall see but I am always will to change and often speak to their affiliate manager about things ect so I am confident that the money will continue to rise.

As far as google is concearned I will just keep build good sites thats all I can do
