Hello there.

I bought a domain through godaddy, the question is, is it possible to build a wordpress website without buying an expensive hosting ?

You must host your domain somewhere.

Right now Hostgator has a single web site promotion (their "hatchling" plan with unmetered bandwidth) for $2.78/month. I wouldn't call that expensive by any means and it will get your started.

There are lots of promotions all over the Internet. Web site hosting is a cutthroat market.

Right, GoDaddy, Hostgator, iPage, and a plethora of cheap hosts are available. But.....you get what you pay for.

For a few bucks more, why not get better support (this can make a huge difference), faster ssd drives, free ssl (if needed), caching/cdn, and more. Siteground is a good example: https://www.siteground.com/web-hosting.htm

I Think HostGator is Fine Web Hosting Platform and It's not expensive ($3.95/month Hatchling Plan)

I'll bey you $3.95 that $3.95 is $3.90 more than the OP is looking to spend.

If you could only take few minutes out and google "Godaddy discount coupans" , you will brace yourself with the cheapest WordPress hosting ever (cheaper than the hostgator, I bet!). Good luck!

Some good cheap hosting companies are a2hosting and mddhosting.

If you're looking for something a little more WordPress specific, you could check out WPengine but it is more expensive.

Hostgator and Interserver also offer first month for only $0.01 so that you can try their hosting.

We get asked this question all the time, so you can find 6 hosting coupons here:

Free hosting options are terrible. 000webhost.com is often suggested as the best free hosting, our client tried to use it and it was a nightmare. Files were suddenly disappearing etc.

Yes, possible. You can use free hosting services like Bytehost. But of course, the quality is not good.

I think hosting is not so expensive and you should buy 1

  • As others have mentioned here, there are two types of host, budget and premium.

For a smaller scale site (ie. not much traffic, or intense database calls) then shared or a budget host does well. If you are looking at Ecommerce or any situation where you have a massive amounts of simultaneous connections and users domestic and overseas, then choose a premium host.

While you may be able to scale up at a later date - migration issues aside, you may have to consider other issues like PHP version, Maria DB vs another database etc.

I prefer hosting service with robust technical support which answers quickly and helps to solve issues - any problems with your hosting means problems with your business and your customers, Now hosting companies consolidate in just a few big players with multiple affiliates - it is hard to recommend one in particular.
