Howdy warriors,

I mean I troll for ideas... everyone does.

Do you ask for critiques of your optin on the WF?

What do you think about it this concern?

Thanks for you help!

There's always going to be someone who has the same idea as you do. It's not about stealing someone idea so much as to how much you put your own effort into it. So if we're working on the same thing, how can you do better?

Please note: I'm not talking about someone blatantly ripping off your product or completely copying word for word. That is stealing ofcourse. I'm merely talking about people working on the same types of ideas/projects.

    Good luck.

    Teresa

I completely agree with the comments above. There is nothing to be scared about while discussing your idea. Even if it is a good idea, the fact remains that there are countless good ideas out there. And who knows, one comment or feedback from the crowd might just be what you needed to make that good idea great.

And even otherwise, I find it a good idea to think aloud as it helps me structure and formulate my ideas better ... As for anyone 'stealing' that idea, if that does happen don't get hung up on it for the same reason mentioned earlier. Also, if the idea is truly good, then there's surely place for a lot more than one competitor!

I don't bother asking for 'critiques' on the forum, and here's why:

    1) What people SAY, and and what they actually RESPOND TO, are rarely the same.

    2) If you want opinions from the consumer's view point, get REAL opinions - ie, drive some real traffic to the site and start testing.

    3) If you want feedback from the marketer's view point, be careful: you will get a lot of people responding who don't really have the experience to back them up. Of course there are exceptions, but it can hard to figure out one from the other. More then 1 'respected warrior' has turned out to be "less than successfull".

It would depend on what one seeks by asking for critiques. If one expects a holy grail or the universal truth by asking for critique/opinion then what you say holds true.

However, if this is done with the notion of 'hearing' others' perspectives then it can do wonders. More often than not, at least for me, this has shed light on facets of the ideas I never knew existed. And this has led to a richer testing process to validate the idea.

Most ideas have already been conceived by someone so, in a way, we a re all borrowing from somebody. However, it is whether, to what degree, and how these ideas are implemented that truly makes the difference. I would not be concerned about sharing your general idea on this forum because you are going to get a lot of great responses, tips, and ideas from fellow warriors.

I would, however, keep some of the specifics of your implementation and your unique selling proposition to yourself if you feel uncomfortable in sharing.

Additionally, one thing I have learned from decades in business is that people who steal ideas tend to lack creativity and integrity and they seem to always crash and burn - usually sooner rather than later
