How to make an ebook from a physical book?

Hi there,
does any body know how to turn my physical book into an ebook. I know I can scan the whole book but then the size of the file gets to big.

Antbody any ideas

One way is to find someone on Elance (or some college kid in your area who could use a few extra bucks) to transcribe it into Word.

Or, read the book into a voice to text editor.

  Most good scanners include OCR, but I am quite curious about what you mean to do when you are scanning in the contents of a book. Copyright laws are more than a small hurdle in what you are suggesting. Maybe I am missing something in your post though.
