Get someone's attention

Imagine that you're presenting your product/service to someone and you notice at the end of your presentation that he was'nt even listening to you. If you don't have your prospect's atttention right at the begening of your presentation, you can keep speaking the whole day, he won't buy anything from you. It's important to quickly get your prospect's attention at the begening of your presentation/advertisement. Today I will reveal 4 technics to get someone's attention.

  • ATTENTION!
If you're writing your advertisement, you can simply write "attention" in red to quickly get someone's attention. If you're talking to your audiance, you can say Attention a bit louder (without yelling). This technic will get you 100% of your prospect's attention but only for a few seconds or a few minutes.

  • Create a suspense
This is one of the best ways to get attention. You have to make people wanna know something and get their answer only if they click on your ad, buy your product/service or something else. That technique is used by trailers, commercials and TV Shows to make viwers come back after commercial break...
  • Ask a questions
When you ask a question to your audience,you make them think (even if they don't want to). Ask a question that is really intersting for them, not some random stuff. Lets say you're presenting your Internet services, at the begining of your presentation you can ask: «Do you know how much are you really supposed to pay for for Internet services?»
This will make your prospect be focused on what you're sayin until he gets his answer. With that technic, you can ask them a question and answer at the end of the presentation (then, your presentation must not be longer than 30 min)
  • Create doubt
This point can be linked with the previous points. You can create a doubt by asking a question about your competitors (or about something else). If you're selling insurance services, you can say: Are you sure you are fully protected with your current insurance compagny? You can also say: Click here and see what's wrong with your current insurance compagny.
  • Misc

- Don't do what everyone does and people will see you (your ad, your products/service...)

- Changing your tone of voice (Without exaggeration, stay natural) every seconds will keep your audiance focuced on what you're saying. (if you're presenting your product/service face to face)

- Make some gestures can also help you getting attention (Again --> Without exaggeration)

- Peoples are attracted to what's beautiful. Dress up like an entrepreneur if you're presenting face to face, and make a really good design if you're presenting your product via Internet (or Flyers).

- Create suspense by talking a bit slower (Not too slow! You're not trying to annoy people)

    Thanks for the share. I like your thoughts on getting someone's attention. In the offline world away from IM I do the same thing to get attention. When I see someone in the afternoon or at night I tell them "Good Morning". Most people aren't paying attention and will repeat Good Morning and when someone is paying attention the say "Hey, it isn't morning" My reply is "It is morning somewhere in this world".

    Another attention grabber that I like to employ is this. Go to a store that has the automatic doors that open when you stand in front of it...I see a lady about to enter the store and I hurry up ahead of her and say, "Let me get that door for you". I usually get a chuckle out of it and/or a thanks.

    Just cutting up here, but in my offline world, just like your online world...In order to get someones attention you MUST stand out. There is too much me too and copycat everyone is doing the same thing that it is nice to see someone that preaches a new gospel of "Stand Out, Do Something Different, Don't Bore Me With Details Everyone Else Is Preaching....Be DiFfErEnT!"

    It will also make them turn away when they realize it's just a "technic." Words like "attention" are used for dramatic, important messages, not for regular messages/ads.

    Proof Reader

    All of the typos, misspellings and serious grammar/flow problems are distracting. It's hard to get your message across if it's difficult to read.
