5 out of 20 visitors click through to the product sales page. Good or Bad?

Hi everyone.

I have a presell page where I basically presell a product on clickbank. The product has a gravity of 52, Refd 89%, Solves a need and looks solid.

I set up a ppc campaign to test the product and my presell page. I have found that for every 20 clicks i get to my presell page 5 will click through to the sales page. So far have 24 people clicked through to the sales page but no sales yet.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

First off, you're dealing with a fairly small sample yet. You might get 3-4 sales in a row. Statistics are nice but they only ever run in perfect order in examples in math text books.

If the trend continues, look for a mismatch between your presell page and the actual sales page. If your presell is all about 'less filling' and the sales page is about 'tastes great' you get a mismatch.

Thanks John, I understand that the statistics isn't much yet but I was just wondering if so far it is decent or bad as far as people clicking through to the sales page from my presell page 5 out of 20?

PPC might be too expensive for this as I have already spend $50 to get to this point. If I can get 100 clickthroughs and then determine I made 2 or 3 sales which will be at 3% then I will probably start spending the time to get free traffic to the site etc.

      Cheers

        Update:

Spend around 60 bucks to get 100 clicks from adwords. From that 100 clicks, 26 clicked through to the product sales page. 7 order form impressions, no sales.

Anybody care to help me figure out whether to drop or keep this site and niche? I will drive some more ppc traffic to it over the next 3 days and see if I can at least make 1 sale.

        Cheers

I am willing to spend money on testing a niche and presell page to know if it works before I spend hours on writing articles, making videos, building backlinks etc.

So far no sales and it is a bit worrying I must say.

          Hi,

If you are selling some products of Clickbank then, I suggest you to be more specific about your product and also mention the price of your product, as for example, If you are selling mobile phone of 5 mega pixel then mention price which is affordable to a visitor.

Also, go for choosing less competitive keywords, which will be more effective.

          Thanks

26% click through from the presell to the sales page. 27% click through to the order form. 0% finish the order. You are spending $1.67 per click.

It appears from the small sample that the order form is the bottleneck. Unless you can influence that bottleneck to free it up, you may be looking at a money pit. It's still too early to tell for sure, but if it were me, I would be massaging the account to get the cost per click way down.

Remember, the more you sink into the campaign, the more sales you have to make to get back to breakeven.

John, Again thanks for your input. I get everything you are saying except the part about influencing the order form. Could you clarify for me pls?

Jan, you are getting people from your PPC ads to your presell page.

You are getting people from your presell page to the sales page.

The seller is getting people from the sales page to the order form.

That's where things end for you.

If it was your own product, you'd be able to tweak the order form to test for a page that would get completed orders. That's what I meant by influencing the order form. Since it's a Clickbank product, and it has decent gravity and referral percent, that might be tough.

One thing you might try is contacting the product owner to see if they will reveal what other affiliates are doing so you can see their process. The worst the owner can do is say no...

Your offer may simply need much more traffic before you can make an accurate statistical prediction ... of course that may mean spending more on PPC which may not seem desirable, especially not knowing what your return might be.

This is the same challenge I kept facing until one of my products finally reached profitability. You may want to try a different source of traffic such as advertising on niche blogs instead of PPC ... sometimes PPC can drain your funds.
