Promote higher priced and targeted products combined with a pre-sell page...

(which can include a review and bonuses)

Anyone of those changes can drastically improve an affiliate promo.

Great points already stated. Having your own list is crucial for long term benefits. Also, understand the niche and product just as well as the creator of the product.

Always and I mean ALWAYS have a Pipeline of high quality Products in your Arsenal that you are totally comfortable in Promoting.

People take down their products or just discontinue them so you need to always be on the lookout for new promising products to promote

    Don't be complacent with this

First and foremost, always always ALWAYS check the product out and make sure it is worthy of your list.

Do NOT assume that because the product seller is well known that it's a good product.

You only need to promote one crap product to put a major ding in your reputation with your list.

By promoting only GREAT products, your list learns to trust your judgment - and pretty soon they're buying whatever you promote.

    Which is priceless.

      So true, Dawn !!
But I will say this. On occasions there are a few Vendors that I have so much Trust in and they have Proven to me over time that they consistently Create excellent Products...well I have Promoted their product without even Reviewing

I do not advise this for most Affiliates. But over time you will build strong relationships like this and feel comfortable doing it

The most important thing is to choose a right product for your promotion. I highly suggest to test the product yourself first and than promote it according to you. It will also help you to write a killer review about the product. Always mention the pros and cons of product. It will generate trust among your users.

The 3 biggest lessons I have learned in the past few years as an affiliate marketer are:

    1. CPA and ONE TIME commission products makes you feel great when you earn them. It makes you feel good inside that you are earning some money. Short term, it is great but if you plan to be here for a LONG TIME, go with residual type programs.

    2. If you want real results and FAST, paid ads is the way to go.

    3. The money is in the list. This is VERY true. I have some people who are on my list and subscribed LAST YEAR and decided to buy what ever I am promoting. So always build a list on a daily basis. Get new leads everyday that is and always give your readers VALUE and don't just sell, sell, and sell.

The cost of driving traffic to an offer is the same regardless of the product your promoting. This means if you are promoting Clickbank and Amazon which pay small amounts on the front end purchase, it becomes very difficult to make money.

With most affiliate programs, the affiliate markets a front offer—something priced at $97 or $197 or whatever—and earn a commission on that product. Let’s say it’s 50 percent, so affiliates in those programs make between $50 and $100 on a sale.

At that point, the company has the customer’s contact information and they can then market their more expensive back-end products to the customer and keep 100 percent of the sale. The affiliate—the person who got them the customer in the first place—won’t ever know about any further sales and won’t make so much as a dime on them.

If you want to make $50,000 per year and your earning $50 per sale that means you have to sell close to 3 EVERY SINGLE day year.

If your getting a 2 percent conversion on your clicks and those clicks are costing you $1 each then you need 150 clicks costing $150 to make $150.

Can you see why people struggle to make money in affiliate marketing?

The 3 lessons I have learnt as an affiliate marketer are:

    1. Choose a suitable product to promote. (The most ideal case would be you have tried out the product before and it works. It is so much easier to convince your subscribers to check out the product if you have experienced the benefits of the product yourself.)

    2. Focus on driving traffic. (There are many methods to drive traffic, some are more effective than others. My suggestion would be to focus on at most 2 methods and constantly test them before you scale up.)

    3. Lastly, be patient. (It takes time to build an online business that makes consistent positive ROI. Build a list and build a long term relationship with your subscribers.)

Pick products that are proven to help, convert and have a low refund rate. Something with decent earnings per clicks. I personally buy everything prior to marketing it so one I know if its good or not and 2nd I understand and can market the product that much better. I also have found that building a list can take my conversions on sales from 3, 6 percent to like 9 to 15 percent and alot of these people will buy multiple products over time.
