e-Book Landing Page Resources

Hi, I'm wondering what are some of the resources for publishing your website for your book. I was thinking of going with a landing page from either Instapage.com or a Wordpress theme. The Wordpress theme will be a nice layout but would require it to be maintained regularly as apposed to Instapage or Leadpages.

My question is,.. Would you pay for a service such as (Instapage/ Leadpages) or run a book off a (Wordpress theme). Would love to hear some of the ways self publishers here went on about this.

Also affiliate links. Can I add an affiliate link to drive in sign ups to build email list.

Thanks!

The platform you use is irrelevant. Just pick one and go for it. WordPress is fine with the right plugins.

Don't over think it. Get your buy buttons out!

If you take action this week Convertri is a fabulous page and funnel building platform and you can get in on a one time fee.

I reviewed it on my blog

Personally, I would just use WordPress. There are plenty of nice book selling themes and you can easily add your own landing page.

You said: "The Wordpress theme will be a nice layout but would require it to be maintained regularly as apposed to Instapage or Leadpages."

Let me ask you, what's wrong with regularly maintaining your site? If you just want to set something up and forget it the chances are pretty good that you won't sell many of your books.

Internet marketing requires that you actively maintain all the various parts of your selling system. WordPress would allow you to have a blog where you can post and distribute daily content aimed at gathering subscribers and promoting your book.

Thank you and everyone else for chiming in!

Well I wanted to run a small blog to offer more value. This will work great on a Wordpress theme. Leadpages and Instapage does not seem to have this option. I'm using my social media platforms in conjunction with the book to have more to offer. This will be laid out nicely on my website.

I wouldn't mind maintaining it but I'm just not sure of essential plugins. I know a Mailchimp will synch up nicely. I also wanted to try having the book sold via free download using an affiliate link. I hear this was not allowed but common practice.

I want to start building and working on my site now while my book is being properly formatted to build my email list.

The essential plugins is something you may google your way to. What is essential very much depends on your plan for the blog. Otherwise you leave me with some questions - what does "a Mailchimp" synch up nicely? I do not quite get what you would do with "a free download using an affiliate link". Where is that not allowed?

If you want affiliates to sell your book it may be an option to sell it as a WSO or enter it into JVZoo marketplace.

The book will be in the Kindle Market place. I also have an affiliate website and thought about customizing the books link through my affiliate program and taking the link for the books landing page.

I'm still not sure what exactly you are hoping to do here. Could you elaborate? Not sure, but I don't think you can use your own amazon affiliate link for your own Kindle book. And even if you could. Why would you want to do that? Just link to your book on amazon.

Or, are you talking about putting up your ebook put on JVZoo, and using that affiliate link? If so, I'd rename the book so you don't run afoul of the Kindle marketplace rules.

I would recommend that you move to a managed theme as soon as you can...something like Elegant Themes or Woo Themes where they manage how their themes and pages handle frequent Wordpress updates and also handle a subset of approved plugins as well as providing support when you run into questions or conflicts with plugins. Many of these themes look very professional and come with modules or entire pages that are designed for you, you just customize. It will run you anywhere from $80-$250 and then an annual support fee (optional - you can still use the theme - just stop getting the updates) which is well worth it for any serious on-line business.

Without a managed package, you will find that eventually you will be spending time or hiring someone on the side to fix problems caused by a Wordpress update or a plugin that no longer functions correctly.

I ended up purchasing a managed theme for wordpress. Looks really good and comes with nice theme options so I'm working on it now.

Well the thing is I run an amazon affiliate site that has nothing to do with this book. But I thought maybe I can use my affiliate program and this book as a link for a "click here" or "Download free book" to funnel email sign ups and click throughs to get paid for the book and via amazon affiliate.

You may want to ensure you complete your author profile page on Amazon as well if you haven't already done so. Another way I have heard to get traffic to your book is to review other peoples books in the same genre and put a link to your author profile. May be useful.

Just go with Wordpress. It's the easiest platform for beginners. And, for advanced users, the customization goes very far

Just get in there and start selling. Get in front of your targeted prospects and start collecting leads. I would go with the Wordpress theme since it's simple, and then follow the instruction that you've learned in the internet marketing courses that you've read.
