INTERNET MARKETING

I just found a domain name to purchase (aged domain) that will suit an event that happens in 2 years time. The event will bring enough traffic to justify the time investment.

anyone with experience building sites towards future trends? (example: future events)?

I have thought about it lately. I can foresee some trends in my niche and I have been researching it and am about to go ahead and buy 5-10 domains for future websites.
Good to see I am not the only one.

Well, there are lots of sites on the upcoming Office, so yes, it does make sense.

I've purchased a few domains regarding an upcoming movie that's due out in 2010...I plan to monetize the heck out of them...

Start working on design and seo implementation ideas and have a look on Google Insights. If the event is recurring, e.g. the Olympics, look up previous years events to monitor when the traffic spike will hit and prepare your site in time for that.

Assess your competition (even if there isn't any yet, I can guarantee you there will be big sites chipping in with their two cents). How do they rank? How strong is their domain? What's their link profile like?

Good luck with hitting the right wave

I have several domains for that event...not built yet....however, my flagship will be L2012.com for the London Olympics.

Still no clue how I am going to do it...

LOL. No. But I will love to get a site that will pay me enough to take me and my 2 kids to the world cup... and stop link building for 1 month (it will be lovely to have a break).

I think the issue of future trends is a good idea, I don't know exactly how to balance the time invested = the REAL potential of monetizing a future trend... anyway thanks for the feedback guys

  Thanks
