Eating Healthy Blog - where should I start?

Hello fellow warriors,
I lost more than 40lb in the last year being more food conscious, eating healthier and watching the carbs. It's food only, no exercise except riding to my work and back (18KM). I feel great.

So I was thinking lately I should maybe start a blog, a weekly journal basically in regards of what I eat, why I choose what I choose, new findings, etc. I'm sure there are already thousands of blogs in this niche but I thought since I have this new passion why not.

I am thinking maybe I can even make some money on the side through affiliates and other ways of advertising, recommending healthy food / vitamins / minerals or natural products to my readers.

I already have the domain and the hosting. I can get a free blog theme setup in a jiffy. I can do then keywords research and start writing.

Now the monetizing part hell. Here I need your help...

Affiliates or no?
How do I get affiliates?
Is there a website where you can chose them based on how much commission they pay and see other details?
Are there affiliates that pay based on referral click even if there is no order?

Google Adwords or no?
I know how to get Google ads setup but is it worth?

Other ways to monetize?

Does any of you have experience with this niche? How hard is to get a decent ranking? Do you think is realistic to start getting 500 unique visitors from organic search per day in 6 months from lunch? Will PPC be worthwhile? Will building an email list help me? I would be happy with 5th page in Google search even. Can anyone guide me please?

Thanks
S

Launching a blog and likely a corresponding Facebook and Instagram pages are a good idea for your space.

You want to start with daily posts that talk about your before and after.

How you felt about yourself before, how you feel about yourself and how your life has changed after (I would actually work out a series of blog posts on impact on your life - this feeds directly into people's desire and emotional state)

Next, come up with a series of blog posts on what you tried but did NOT work and why

Then, come up with a series of blog posts around what DID work, including the challenges you had, why it worked, what critical things did you have to do to make it work and what pitfalls you think others may run into.

You can easily blog daily about this based on your experience (and perhaps throwing in the experience of others you know that may have taken a slightly different path) for months...that will get some traffic flowing and begin to get you a loyal following.

Mix in images, videos, etc..if you can - before and after is highly effective.

As far as monetization, here are a few recommendations:

    1. Go with what you know works first...if you used certain techniques or ebooks then promote from Clickbank directory. If you found certain membership sites helpful, promote those. If you found certain nutritionals, herbs or supplements to be effective, then promote those (could be from Amazon, Commission Junction, Sharesale, etc...)

    2. I would plan the blog posts (as outlined above) with the INTENT of packaging them after 1-2 months into an ebook or training program that you can then turn into a product. This is a common technique for popular bloggers who inevitably launch a product based on their blog content - works extremely well and then you have your own product to sell - a great source of monetization

    3. After these two methods and after some time blogging you will no doubt be asked about personal help through coaching, training, consulting - you can then either launch a coaching program or some sort of subscription or membership type program for the top 20% of your market who will pay you for extra information, help and motivation.

Don't expect quick fixes do things properly! As for seo this will take a lot of time and there is a lot to learn but you can do it!
