Landing Pages That Work

I get told different advice by different people that basically say one thing against the other.

I was told by people to offer free gifts and then i was told by other people that offering gifts just doesn't work anymore. I mean, what should i do, who should i listen to!?

To use certain images, colours, how i word it etc.

I mean, what is the best way to approach a landing page in todays market?

Different markets respond to different things, but just in my experience, delivering value upfront (freebie) + premium option, will always be a winner.

If i want to send them to an affiliate link that promotes "IM". What sort of free gift do i offer?

I don't want to give them a free course, have them doing that course and ignoring my affiliate link. Why would they buy if they already have a free course that i have already given that promises them $$?

If it doesn't work out for them, why would they come back and purchase from me?

      Thanks
      Michael

Put one up, send traffic to it, and see what happens. If the response isn't satisfactory (or even if it is) you can start testing different elements and improving from there.

But until you get one up and start using it and learning hands on, none of all the differing advice is going to make much sense.

    Picture it like this...

Dude wants to go from A - Z.. whatever that might be.

Your job is to help the dude to get from A - B, for free.

If he wants to go the rest of the way, well cool, here's the thing that will help him to that.. oh, and it costs X amount.

Personally, I believe the best you can do is offer something that is in great demand and where the value is strikingly obvious right from the outset.

If the offer is very compelling, you will get opt-ins.

As far as using images, color, etc . . .

Find someone that is a very respected and successful IMer and see what he/she is doing. You can adapt their style to your landing page without copying what they are doing.

I think you will find in most cases that the best landing pages keep things simple, straightforward, and intuitive. Give the prospect one choice only (of what to do next) and lead him by the hand to making that choice.

Test several variables and optimize your landing page over time.

    The best to you,

    Steve

      Thanks Steve,

I personally have bought into a course and got an OTO which has given me plugins to create landing pages. I was basically told to copy the headline from their sales page and slap it as the title of my squeeze page (this isn't offering them a freebie or anything) but when i do that, it just looks like a lot of text, boring and personally wouldn't click on it myself.

I try to think of it as if it was me looking at the squeeze page, would it interest me? I think it should just stand out, offer me something that i would think "I gota get this, it's free what do i have to lose" but would i follow up on the affiliate link? Probably not as i would try my free option that offers me a free way to make money! but i would be on their list and would possibly have a look at something in one of their emails down the line and if it caught my eye i would certainly have a look at it.

Should i just go to a PLR website, purchase a nice ebook or video course and offer them it as a free gift and then send them an email or is it perfectly fine to take the title of a warrior plus product, slap it on my squeeze page, they subscribe and then email them with the affiliate link attached?

Am i crazy to think like that? does everybody else think like that? do i understand how it works...

If you're not interested in giving away too much free material, consider holding contests to give out a grand prize. While you'll be giving away one free course, you will in return receive 100+ emails to add into your funnel and attempt converting them into customers.

Incentives such as white papers or free trials can also help you get more email signups. Since you're worried that potential customers trying the free trial won't buy the whole course, you need to ensure you are providing enough value in the trial that will make them go, "This is so informative, I have to buy the entire course!"

Remember to create call to actions that appear at opportune times and A/B test elements within them such as colors, fonts, layout, messaging etc, to see what has the highest conversion rate.

Get Response offers a ton of really attractive landing pages that definitely convert. I have used a variety of them while advertising within the Udimi solo ads network.

A landing page is simply any entry point into a website. I believe we're talking here specifically about a squeeze page.

In any case, the first question to tackle is where the traffic is coming from. Is it from a direct ad, such as on Adwords? From a banner ad? If so, from which site(s)? From solo ads? Or is the traffic being sent from a recommendation by a trusted expert in the niche?

There's no point guessing how your visitors are going to respond to your squeeze page, unless you have a reasonably good idea of why they clicked through to the page in the first place. If they've already been warmed up to your offer, you need just provide little more than a link. But if the traffic is cold, you'll have to do a bit more work on them. And if they're being sent via a well-thumbed solo ad list, you'll have to offer an incentive that nobody else has done to get any kind of worthwhile response at all.

In other words, the degree to which your traffic is already qualified should determine the nature of your squeeze page. Otherwise, you're just second-guessing their motives and wasting your time, as well as any traffic you manage to attract.

it all depends on the market and what you're promoting.

Why not try a simple A/B split test? Create on squeeze page with a free giveaway. And one without. You should still make sure all text and your freebie are congruent with your traffic. See which wins.

Then YOU KNOW and aren't listening to people who give blanket answers to situations that are unique. TEST, then test again. Stop asking, do! Then you KNOW! And you'll be 50 steps ahead of most others on WF.

    hey there

Who ever said to offer a paid product or whatever on a landing page is sometimes wrong.

You see most people don't buy things straight away we need to be exposed to something at least 6 or 7 times!

You create good landing pages by giving value!

A free gift doesn't have to be a report or video series anymore. It could simply be a video or paragraph of text on a bridge page between your landing page and offer. It just increases the trust between yourself a your new subscriber rather than trying to go for the sale right away.

Having said that, people are still making a killing with landing page > offer + followups.
