I am not sure of that thread but know my journey has been many little breakthroughs one after the other.

One shift: moving from predominantly trying to make money to predominantly trying to help people. I wrote more long form posts, linked in, linked out, wrote more guest posts, more thorough blog comments, and my list grew steadily from that point on.

Shift your intent - by doing some difficult inner work - to see neater results with your IM business.

This ain't pretty at times; lots of stuff may arise around fear of going broke, fear of success, fear of failure. But when you make the shift from trying to game a system to intending to help folks, and to have fun with the process, you will enter into a new stage of your career.

    Happy IMing.

Great stuff. Also for me was learning and being aware that everyday will NOT be a walk in the park. That Successful people don't wake up everyday with this boundless energy ready to conquer the World. There are some day where a person is disinterested o had self doubt or just plain unmotivated.

These are the exact times that a Champion shines. The Champion knows this will happen and even though it happens he learns to rise above it and work through these lulls.

To me that is ONE main reason that separates the Winners form the Losers

This is 100% true. My business has grown immensely since just trying to help people grow their own businesses. Usually people think you're up to something at first, but then they see you really working for them and it takes off.

I would say that very important is to focus on one thing and stick to it. People are trying in the beginning almost every day some new way of earning money and it just doesn't work like that. Another important thing is finding time to work on it. Regular time.

    hey good thread!

For me my breakthrough was a combination of these things:

    • I put customer satisfaction and value FIRST before money.
    • I brought the products I was promoting first to see their actually worthwhile and then I could market better.
    • I learned what worked and what didn't.
    • I was unique and ACTUALLY WANTED TO HELP PPL.
    • I stayed organised and was consistent in my work!

  • If I'm being honest, for me I don't think there ever really was a "breakthrough" moment. I just did stuff that didn't work long enough to start doing stuff that does. It's a cumulative effect of small daily disciplines over time that creates what looks like a breakthrough in most cases. If you've never read "the slight edge" I that's one of the best books ever written on the subject of how to actually make real changes in your life.

I have to agree with moving from the mindset of taking or making money, to giving value to potential customers.

Once that clicked, the whole thing just started to jive.

when i sold my first 7 diaper cakes back in the day...

i knew then and there that if 100 to 120 site visitors saw that diaper cake page then one was being sold..

    BAM!

my mission was simple, get as many people to that page as possible!

... of course that brought a new kind of hell with it... customer service!

I was drop shipping then.. but I digress..

yea, my conversion rate... that was the big break through..

    MAXIMIZE your EFFORT

Once you create something, maximize its promotion and derivative uses.

    Here's an example

The last thing you want to do is to keep spinning and spinning your wheels

Using my method of CREATE ONCE / PROMOTE MANY TIMES, you can build an efficient income model

keep it up for a long enough period of time and it becomes a passive system

I think my greatest breakthrough moment was finally understanding what I was truly good at and putting a value on this. As well as this, once I established myself enough, I was able to lock in ongoing work through clients which allowed me to stabilise my income and provide a bare minimum that I would be earning each month. This in itself allowed me to be less stressed about making ends meet and focusing more on my clients and what they needed. I think if you focus less on generating income and channel your energy toward doing something that you would almost do for free, then the work and the income will come.

My break through moment was when I just relaxed more and gave more of what I could, i.e. lots of free content, helped as many people possible, induced a welcoming and friendly environment, and just had fun doing it all. From there, a natural progression of new products to create and people to market to was set in place.

Great advice. I have been a plumber for over 20 years and I remember when I was an youg apprentice that I worked my butt off all day, came home and read about plumbing. I am guessing that you are stating the same thing:

      One NIche
One method of selling (affilaite, product creator, or seller (AMazon, ebay.)
One platform (autoresponers, blogging, html sites.)

Or am I not following this properly?

Advice for newbies is to always be alerted about trends in the marketplace and keep on building on your skills.

I started as an article writer. I though that was the only thing I can do but for writer where English is just a second language, there is always a ceiling to rates you can charge. About three years ago, jobs for social media started trending. Despite not having an advertising and graphic design background, I started just reading what people wanted from a social media marketing assistant. Despite not having any experience, as long as I believed I could do the requirements they specified on the project, I applied for those jobs and won some contracts.

What is psenjani81 talking about? Was that rubbish even written by a human being?

Going back to break throughs (that don't have sales pages)... nobody ever really forgets their first sale. Once something you are doing in the virtual world becomes tangible in the form of a sale then a lightbulb SHOULD go off in that persons head as it all becomes real.

My break through came when I realised that in order to make reliable and consistent income that wasn't at the mercy of what, for instance, Google decided to do that day, I would need to have assets that I controlled. The obvious one for an internet marketer is and has always been their list.

Even if you have a niche website and don't think of yourself as an 'internet marketer' you can stabilise and grow your income when you build a list (even if you're initially relying on free/organic traffic). Too many people skip this step and lose a lot of traffic and money as a result.

Take a breakthrough as a journey, not destination. Try out as many things as you can and settle for what works for you. IM is not a one-shoe-fits all kinda thing. Once you find what works for you focus and grow it.
