I am trying to advertise and market two websites. One is an Adult toy store website and the other is a collectibles website. I am not getting the traffic or sales from either website that I would like and that I need and I am wondering as to what I am doing wrong and as to what kinds of things I may not be considering.

The best place that I have at the moment that I have thought of for generating the traffic that might lead to sales is Facebook, but as I understand it that could be very expensive and I can't be sure if it will generate the traffic and the sales that I need.

What forms of advertising and marketing am I not considering and what places am I not considering? At the moment the only places that I can think of to even remotely advertise either website is Facebook and Craigslist.

I am hoping that someone here might have some good ideas that I might not be thinking of or considering and might have some suggestions as to where else I could advertise and market at. I am counting on these sites to make money and do not have a whole lot of money to spend on advertising and marketing.

I am looking at all options and am trying to figure out how to get that exposure to these websites that I need. I am looking at both online advertising methods and places and offline methods and places.

Backwards marketing - Build a site and then try to find some traffic for it.

Frontwards marketing - Identify a traffic source and then find a way to monetize.

what do the product descriptions look like? Are they unique and optimized? Or are they cut/copy/paste straight from the manufacturer's sites?

Here is the link to the Adult toy store website. This website was created by a company that I signed up with a few years ago. I am trying to advertise it and promote it in an attempt to get traffic to the site and get some sales from it. If I sell products from the website, then the company will pay me a commission for those sales and at my present financial situation I need those sales.

This is the link for the other website that I am trying to advertise and promote. Both of these websites were professionally created by someone else. All I am trying to do get people to the websites and actually buying the products.

    hey there

Before you had even spent time setting up those sites you should have had a plan of attack!

You seem like your trying to figure out 20 things at once and that won't work!

Not trying to sound harsh, but you lack focus and a blueprint!

WL adult toy stores, assuming it's a WL site, are tough if you don't have an existing traffic source or niche site you can market targeted products to. Try creating a separate blog and review a new product each day. If you can create your own promo codes run a daily special by offering the promo code with the review. Even with large traffic sources, such as having your own tube, you really need to analyze the viewer patterns to see what your traffic watches and then try targeting products based on that.

You could try to get into social networks like Tumblr or Pinterest, they are very popular and you can grow an audience there, make traffic and sales from it.

I am trying to get these websites in front of as many people as I can. The idea is to create exposure. The more people that I can get to be aware of the websites and the kinds of products that I am trying to sell through both websites, then the greater my chances are success. The problem is (as I see it) that I am just not reaching enough people.

In 2006, I was introduced to some of these marketing concepts. At that time I bought into a turn key adult entertainment business. They had all of the websites and content and all I was supposed to do was just advertise and market the websites. The idea was good back then, but I just never really was able to make it work. Around the same time, I was introduced to Google Adwords as a way of making money, but I never quite figured that out. I have since read a lot of books on sales and marketing (or at least tried to) and they all come to the same idea, know who your customer is.

Since I am trying to sell to both men and women, it should be easy. The problem that I have with social media is that I do not have enough friends in my list that can help me spread the word about the websites and that is what I am trying to do.

Right now finances are tight, so I have to use what I can. If I can get people to start buying the products from the Adult toy store, then that will give me the money that I need to advertise in other places and to try more things.

It all comes down to positioning and branding. Facebook is good, but from what I have seen with Facebook unless you have a lot of money to advertise on Facebook you are limited to the people that you have in your friends list.

Craigslist is ok, but from what I noticed about them is that they can be sticklers about what you can advertise on their website and it is usually located to just your local area.

What I want to do is get people from all over the United States buying from both websites. The suppliers with both of them will ship to anyone in the United States without a problem. I just need to get them both in front of a lot more people in every state. I'm sure that if I can do that, then my traffic will increase and my chances of actually getting some sales from them both will increase as well.

I know that not everyone is going to want to buy from me and I am alright with that. I just want to get them both in front of the people that are likely to buy from me. It's that age old 80/20 rule or as some like to call it 'The Pareto Principle'.

assuming people want what you have...

And you want the most bang for your buck...

then try PPV to build two lists.. one in the adult toy market and the other in the collectibles market.

you're going to need a test and tracking system in place.. you want to use prosper..

make sure you have your squeeze pages on a rotator and find the target that yields the most leads.

    Best of luck,

Forum Marketing is a good way to get traffic to your sites. Join a few sex forums, and engage in the community. Build your credibility and then promote your sites through your forum signature. The traffic here will be targeted. Lok into this.

This is also a free method, it will require your time but you don't need to spend money you are trying to earn

There are other ways, so start with one and build your profile then you can explore the rest.

    Cheers

You have not content on the sites, they are just product listings. You need content.

You could write product reviews. They have to be long enough though - at least 800 words, preferably 1000 words and more.

You don't need any software as their are free source that like Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools that can help you.

You just need to optimize your website both on page and off page then do social media marketing.

I have been using Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools and that is my concern. I have looked at the bounce rate and it is way too high. It is near 100% and I want to change that so that the bounce rate is as close to zero as I can make it and the conversion rate is near 100%.

So far I have had no luck in making that happen.

Anything that I can do (that actually works) to make both of these websites as attractive to potential customers and to make them want to buy from me is what I am going to do. As to what is going to work and what won't (I don't know) as it is a volatile market and customers wants, needs, desires, perceptions, and tastes can and will change. My desire is to trip that buy switch in the minds of people (both men and women) so that they will want to buy what I am trying to sell. I don't condone the sex toy website, products, or industry, but sex does or is supposed to sell and I am hoping to tap into that market and get both men and women buying those products from that website (ideally in massive volume) as the more products that I sell from that website, then the more that I will make off that website and that will help my overall financial situation greatly. That is the one that I am focusing on first and foremost. Both sites are important to me and the more that I can make from both websites then the better off I will be financially. It's tricky work, but I believe that it can be done.

With Craigslist you have to be careful with how you advertise there. I hear there are agents there that keep an eye on the ads posted and if you arouse their suspicion you could get a ban. I've heard they do not allow affiliate marketing there.

If you have budget for PPC (Pay per Click) that will work for you, but you need expert in that otherwise your should lose your ROI. If you want more sale you can make amazon store or ebay but there terms and condition must have to meet.

it sounds like you went into this heads first without having an actual plan. now there are two strategies you can choose from, that is first build the site and find traffic for it or first seek traffic source and then exploit it
